Was it good for you?

The question burned on her tongue, but it made her feel like a nervous teenager, so she held it back. Of course it had been good for him. He’d gotten his dick wet and he’d gotten off. What more could he possibly want?

“You’re thinking too loudly again.” Amusement colored his tone as he pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “What’s wrong, babygirl?”

“Nothing’s wrong. Just enjoying the afterglow.”

“Hmm. And what happens to naughty little girls who lie to their Daddies, Samantha Kay?”

“I’m not lying,” she whined, embarrassment heating her skin as she fought the urge to squirm. It was both fascinating and horrifying how quickly he could reduce her to a pouty Little girl.

“You are. And I’d really hate to ruin this moment by dragging you out of bed to wash those lies out of your mouth so I suggest you start talking, little girl.”

Well, she didn’t want that. But she also didn’t want to tell him how freaking neurotic she was being, either.

Forced to choose between the two, however, she was never, ever going to choose soap. “Just worrying that the fantasy didn’t live up to the reality for you.”

“Oh, baby.” Shifting onto his side, he cupped her cheek in his hand, forcing her to look up at him. “Everythingabout you has far outlived even my wildest fantasies.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. You are everything I’ve ever dreamed of, to the point I’m having a bit of trouble believing you’re actually real and this isn’t just some incredible dream I’m going to wake up from someday.”

Her heart stuttered in her chest. And though she hated herself for the insecurity, the question she’d really wanted to ask finally burst out of her. “What about the other girls?”

“Baby, there are no other girls. There’s only you.”

“No, I mean…” God, she was a mess. “The girls who came before me.”

“Samantha.” His lips twitched with clear amusement. “That’s what I’m trying to tell you. There has never been anyone but you.”

The words hung between them, heaving with meaning that shimmered just out of reach.

“When you saynever, you mean?—”

“I mean I’ve never fucked anyone but you, Sam, and I plan to keep it that way.”

Shoving up in the bed, she stared down at him. “Are you telling me you’re avirgin?”

“Was.” A self-satisfied grin spread across his face. “Not anymore.”

“Oh my god.” Pressure wrapped around her chest, squeezing the air from her lungs as she scrambled out of bed, raking her fingers through the tangled curls she’d put so much time into perfecting for their dinner. “You’re not serious. You’re just fucking with me.”

“Why would I fuck with you about something like that?”

“I don’tknow, Dylan!”

The words were sharp, far sharper than she’d actually intended, and she instinctively froze in place as his expression shifted. Hardened.

“Okay. Enough. I understand you’re feeling some big feelings right now, but that does not give you the right to snap at me, little girl.”

“I’m not a little girl. I’m old enough to be your mother, literally, and I justtook your fucking virginity.”

Rising from the bed in all his gorgeous, naked glory, he moved toward her, once again cupping her face in his hands. “You didn’t take anything. I gave you something I’ve never given anyone else, because I didn’twantto give it to anyone else. You're the only woman I’ve ever wanted, Samantha, and you’re the only woman I’m ever going to want. The sooner you reconcile yourself to that, the happier we’ll both be.”

“I can’t possibly be the only one.”

“You are. Have I been attracted to other people? Sure. But you’re the only one who’s ever been an itch under my skin, a burning in my veins. There is, was, and will only ever be you.”
