“Mom, Mom!” I call as I storm inside the sitting room.
“What is it?”
“Why did you forget to inform me that you shared my contact with all the single men at Jasmine’s wedding?” I question her, arms akimbo.
“Hey, relax, the only man I shared your contact with is Simon. And I don’t see the problem with that,” she shrugs. “Oh, I think I gave it to one other man too. Was it Jason?”
I watch my mom as she squints her eyes, trying to remember the name of the other man she shared my contact with. To her, she is doing the right thing, but I have never been angrier in my life. I’m fuming; why would she even think of giving my number out to strange men without asking me.
“These men are great, I checked them. So, you don’t have to worry. If you don’t like one, you try the second one, I’m sure you will find a great man. Rose, you will thank me.”
“Mom, asides Simon and Jason; who else did you share my contact with?” I raise my eyebrows. My mom pulls a guilty look, and I slam my hands across my face angrily.
This woman is doing the most. I don’t need her help finding the right man; I have a man I like already.

Dominic
The weekend felt longer than usual. I could not wait for Monday; I’m glad it’s finally here. I’ve called Rose, and she informed me that she’s at the cabin already. I miss her; I can’t wait to see her. I spent all night constructing what I would say to her. It feels like she’s everywhere in my head, but it’s a great feeling. I like it. The café would be closed today since I choose to spend some quality time with Rose. I have informed most of my customers.
I pull up my truck to the cabin slowly, looking around. Two cars are parked, and I recognize the first one as Rose’s, but the second one is whose? I step out of my car gently after opening the door. As I approach the cabin, I see a man there with Rose. My face breaks into a small frown. He isn’t just standing beside her; he has his hand around her neck. And Rose does not make any attempt to lift his hand off from her neck. Who is this man?
Rose turns her head, and she sights me as I walk towards them. “Hey, Dominic.”
“Hi, how are you?” I manage to pull a smile.
“I’m fine, erm, this is Simon, he’s a lawyer, and he’s here to help me out with the BnB and everything,” she points towards the man that’s now standing in front of us, grinning.
“Oh, Dominic,” I stretch out my hands to shake him.
“Nice to meet you, Dominic,” Simon smiles back. “Is he your friend that you spoke about?” he directs his question to Rose.
“Yeah, he is.” Rose nods.
“Thanks for helping her.”
“The pleasure’s all mine,” I feign another broad smile.
Simon walks back to continue what he was going as Rose turns to face me. “Thanks for stopping by,” she expresses.
The urge to tell her I did not just stop by has left me. I did not know I was going to see another man here with her. I wanted to tell her I took a week off work to assist her with the cabin, but it seems she does not need my help anymore. That man I just met looks like he can do anything I offer to help with.
“Yeah, I’m glad you got someone to help you,” I respond, trying to hide the sadness in my voice.
“Thank you. Erm,” Rose presses her palm together.
As I make a move to say something, Simon calls out to her. “Hey, Rose, I think this is what your mom talked about!”
“Oh, have you seen it?”
“Yeah, I think I have. Your mom was right…”
I watch them as they have their conversation. He knows her mom? Wow, a lot is probably going on between them. I don’t want to be the fifth wheel, so I’m just going to go back and open my café.
“Erm, Rose, I should go. I need to open the café for my morning customers.”
“Oh, all right, Dom,” she pulls me into a small hug.
