“Oh, thanks.” I adjust my bag before walking to sit on a vacant space. “Hi,” I wave a small ‘hi’ at the other two men.
“Hello,” one of them greets me back before standing up.
I turn my attention away from them and focus on what I’m here for.
“Oh, finally!” I exclaim when my phone’s internet connection resurfaces. Without wasting time, I dial my mom’s contact. I dial it once, twice, and the third time again.
“To leave a voice message…”
I hit the red button, cutting the robotic voice mid-sentence.
“Urgh! Just where is this woman? Why is she not answering her phone?” I lament angrily.
“Hello,” a bass voice joins me.
I tuck my hair at the back of my left ear slowly before looking up. “Hi,” I reply, pulling a tooth revealing smile.
“I’m Dominic, Dominic Miller,” he stretches his hand out for a handshake.
“I’m Rose, Rose Morgan.” I accept the friendly handshake, begging my eyes to stop gazing at his broad chest.
Wow, we don’t have these types of men in the city. He’s hot in a special type of way – the kind of hotness that makes you want to rip off his clothes and throw yourself at him on the spot. And those exceptionally green eyes, he’s drool-worthy.
“Do you need help with something?”
It took my brain thirty seconds to process what help means and understand that help is different from ‘bed.’
“Oh, yeah, help. I do, I’m new here, and I’m kinda lost. I need to get to the lake, but I’m trying to call my mom for an accurate description and—”
“I can take you there if you like,” he offers.
“Oh, I’d appreciate that, but how about your café?” I question.
“It’s only going to take a few minutes, and my friend is here. So…” a small smile edges across his lips.
“Thank you,” I pick my bag before standing up slowly.
We walk out of the café together, and I still find it hard to comprehend. Is it the way they are around here? Is niceness a part of their daily life? Honestly, if you find a man as hot as this in the city, just expect him to have a crappy and rude as fuck personality. But this good-looking man, I turn my head to observe his face again, with a kind personality. It’s a contrast, and he does not give off the ‘I-want-to-sleep-with-you’ vibe. He looks like he’s helping me because he genuinely wants to. If it were another person, I guess this is the same way he’d offer to help also.
Maybe my mom is right. I should definitely set up that mountain cabin and make it into a nice inn. Crystal Mill feels like the place for me.

Dominic
I did not miss that ‘go for it’ tap that Gary gave me before walking out of the cafe. Although I’m scared, she’s probably married or planning to. But I won’t know if I don’t talk to her, right?
“Here, this is the lake,” I say as we stop in front of the lake.
“Thank you. Actually, that is where I’m going,” Rose points towards the cabin that’s a few feet away from where we stood.
“Oh, I see,” I say, nodding.
“Yeah, erm,” she averts her eyes to my direction. “Sorry, I didn’t quite catch your name,” she squints her eyes, and I have to say this is the cutest facial expression I’ve seen in my entire life.
“Dominic,” I remind her.
“Oh, yeah, Dominic,” she pronounces my name again.
