I hop back inside my truck and drive off too. A part of me tells me that I won’t come back to this supermarket to shop. But the more decisive part of me knows I’d come back, again and again. To shop and because I want to see the beautiful lady whose name I don’t even know.

My younger brother is so annoying. He wakes me up this morning with his whole, “Let’s go shopping!” I need to rest, but he’s not even having any of my explanations.
Yesterday night was so stressful for me. I was on the Friday night shift, and Friday nights in the hospital where I work are usually stressful. Stressful sounds like a milder adjective to qualify it. I could not even sit throughout the night. I was up and everywhere. I even sprained my arm while assisting one paramedic in getting a patient inside the emergency room. It was crazy, and I have not even slept for up to three hours. This boy is everywhere in my face yelling, “We should shop!”
I groan as he pulls me up from my bed. Although he’s right, I should go shopping because I’m running out of a lot of things; my shampoo, body soap, body cream, toiletries, etc. But I’m usually too busy, and the little free time I get, I don’t ever shop. Instead, what I do is procrastinate.
“Lucas, let me sleep for just thirty minutes more, and after that, we will be on our way,” I beg him in an attempt to make him leave my room.
My plan is that once he leaves, I’d lock my door and sleep throughout the day. I’ll shop next week. I will manage the shampoo that I have left; it can come next week.
“No way! You can’t use that on me anymore, it won’t work. Last week Saturday, that was the same thing your lazy ass said. You locked the door and slept throughout the day. No way.” He drags me out of my bed.
“Lucas, you are so disrespectful,” I groan, making a move to crawl back to my bed and continue my sweet sleep.
“I swear I’m going to carry you to the bathroom if you go back to that bed!” my younger brother threatens me.
I’m three years older than Lucas, but no one is ever going to believe that. He is two times taller than I am, and three times bigger. I still don’t understand how he grew to become such a huge man. I remember how small and nasty he used to be back then. But now I can’t even call him small anymore, plus he’s a gym instructor. Lucas spends most of his time at the gym, working out. So, he has the biceps and triceps, is that what it’s called? Maybe if I were a fan of working out, I would look more grown than I look right now. But I hate working out with a passion. It makes me exhausted and sleepy.
Long nights of sleep are the only thing that I am a huge fan of.
“Urgh! You are so impossible!” I kick him before standing up.
“You better hurry up!” he smirks and finally walks out of my room.
I walk inside the bathroom lazily, and I realize it’s worse than I think. I don’t have any hair shampoo left, and my body wash is remaining just a little amount that won’t even be enough for me to have a good bathe. Lucas has a point; we have to go to the supermarket today.
Lucas and I sit in the car as we contemplate what supermarket to go to. That’s what we do all the time, there’s a supermarket that Lucas loves going because he has a crush on one of the sales representatives. But their products are usually too expensive, I hate that. My shampoo is fifteen dollars at any supermarket except that one. It is eighteen dollars there, and it is the same product.
“Sis, please,” Lucas pleads to me.
“Lucas, we can’t keep wasting money. Are we that rich?” I counter him. “Let’s go to a cheap supermarket today, and next time we can go to your girlfriend’s. Huh?” I tap his shoulder.
Lucas blushes lightly. “She’s not my girlfriend. Aargh!” he complains, but I can see it on his face that he loved it when I called her his girlfriend.
“Whatever, drive!” I laugh.
I will forever be grateful to have Lucas as my brother. Our dad left us when we were little, and some years later, mom passed away. We grew up with my mom’s older sister. And while she treated us nicely, it was still nothing like growing up with our own parents.
Yet, we grew up nicely, and we have done so well for ourselves. My younger brother is my only family and best friend. I can’t count how much stress he has helped me through. Sometimes it feels like I’m the younger one, and he’s the older one. All in all, I love him so much. If there’s anything I’m happy to have – it’s Lucas.
…
The drive to the supermarket is faster than usual. It is probably because I slept throughout the whole drive.
“Are we there?” I rasp a question as I pull my eyelids open.
“You sleepy head!” Lucas scoffs before getting down from the car.
“Try doing a six to six shift at an emergency room and see if you are not going to sleep like this too. You dummy head!” I walk after him.
We walk inside the supermarket together, Lucas loves shopping grocery, so I let him do it while I walk to shop my feminine items.
Oh, God, I’m so dizzy. It feels like I’m dozing while walking.
