I knew exactly what I was about to do.

And yeah… it was childish as hell But I didn’t give a damn. I looked deeply into Monty’s eyes, tilted my head back as his hands tightened around my waist. Without having to be told, Monty leaned down and kissed me deeply. Our tongues tangled hungrily, my hands ran up and down the sleeves of his shirt.

Monty grabbed both my ass cheeks and squeezed firmly, pulling me deeper into the kiss. The kiss grew heated fast, the kind that made it easy to forget where you were.

I forced myself to pull away before things escalated into us practically dry humping in the middle of the party. Monty was a damn good kisser. That alone earned him some serious points.

“Loni… I need to holla at you real quick.” King’s deep baritone voice caused goosebumps to spread against my arms as the night air intensified the feeling.

I turned slowly in Monty arms, I wanted to frown when I felt his grip loosen around me. When I faced King, I understood why. His jaw clenched, eyes as dark as knight. King loosened the black tie around his neck aggressively and took a step into my personal space.

“Can it wait, King?” I forced out calmly. “I’m with my date.” I smiled politely and attempted to turn back towards Monty.

That was short lived before I was yanked roughly and dragged away in front of everyone. King didn’t give me or Monty a chance to react. His grip tightened as he forced me to keep up with his long strides.

“King, let go?—”

I gasped, words cut off by him sharply yanking me towards the sliding glass. When I looked over my shoulder, Monty stood frozen where we left him. The disappointment on his face made guilt stab right through my chest. Instead of him heading in our direction to protect me like I expected, he turned on the balls of his feet and walked in the opposite direction. My heart sank.

“Let me go right now, King.” I swallowed down hard, fear crept up my spine as he dragged me to a dark hallway until we reached the nearest bathroom.

He shoved the door open with his shoulder, yanked me inside then slammed and locked the door. Soon as the lights came on, my eyes landed on an angry King. His back was against the door with a stoic look. He smirked sinisterly, dropped his head and shook it from side to side.

“What did I tell you when I fucked you, Layloni?” he asked me in a low, threatening tone.

My stomach tanked as realization finally set in.This nigga is really fucking crazy...I thought.

His eyes bore through my soul. Even with him acting a complete fool, snatching me up and dragging me away from Monty, King looked good as hell and I hated that. I swear I wanted to hate his cocky ass. Every last polished inch of him down to the way he stood in front of me like I belonged to him.

I hated the way his charcoal three-piece suit hugged his broad shoulders like it was stitched directly onto his body by some overpaid designer. His vest sat snug against his chest. Even the tie that he pulled at earler still looked perfect against the deep black silk of his shirt.

“Answer my mu’fuckin question.” He bit his bottom lip.

I tried to roll my eyes, but my gaze betrayed me. My eyes dragged down the sharp line of his lapels, over the thick column of his neck then landing right back on his perfect sculpted face that was the richest shade of chocolate. His skin was smooth and flawless. His waves spiraled around his head in perfect patterns, rolling across his scalp. They framed his forehead just enough that made me want to reach out and test if they felt as smooth as they looked.

I hated that my fingers itched to even find out.

“I hate you.” I whispered looking away from him.

I hated that I noticed everything when it came to King down to the expensive watch peeking from beneath his cuff. He stood in front of me vexed yet still composed with a calm control in his posture like he didn’t just chase me down.

“Say that shit again, Loni.” He sneered, pushing off the door.

His scent reached me before he did, and that’s when my irritation really peaked. The warm amber scent was masculine but smooth. I crossed my arms trying to armor myself before I spoke.

“Look King, what you did is unacceptable, Monty and I are dating and--”

“So, y’all fucking is what you trying to tell me?” His voice dropped lower, he cocked his head to the side daring me to say the wrong answer.

I pushed my fear to the side, dropped my arms and looked him square in the eyes.

“As I said! I’m a grown ass woman and what I do with my…”

“I SAID ARE YOU FUCKING HIM, LAYLONI!!” his voice boomed hard, making me jump. The echo in his voice bounced off the bathroom walls, making my ears ring.

“Look King, you need to calm down.” I nervously nawed at the inside of my cheek. “I don’t have time for this… We ain’t together, you clearly ain’t checking for me on a day to day basis which is why you showed up with a whole other bitch. This is really beyond me.” I sighed.

I was tired of King’s confusing ass. He couldn’t speak how he felt, nor express his emotions worth shit. He made it clear he didn’t want no woman in his life but was standing in front of me looking like he was ready to kill me because he spotted me kissing a man. Not just any man, but a man that took the time to get to know me, called me every single day and dedicated time to me. Monty was a better fit but, after tonight, he could lose my number after he left me high and dry.
