That he has something better now.

Leverage.

I could tell him that the closer Logan gets—

The easier it will be to use him.

To break him.

To get to me.

I could tell him that I won’t let that happen.

Instead—

I gently pull my wrist free.

Not rejecting.

Not abrupt.

Just… removing the contact.

“It’s nothing,” I repeat.

That’s when it happens.

The shift.

Small.

Sharp.

He feels it.

I see it in his eyes.

The moment he understands—
