I don’t answer that.
Not out loud.
But something in my chest shifts anyway.
Not heavy.
Not sharp.
Just… there.
We stand like that for a while, watching the light stretch across the trees, the world slowly waking up around us.
Normal.
Or something close to it.
“You ever think about what happens when things stay like this?” Logan asks.
I glance at him.
“Quiet?”
“Yeah.”
A pause.
I consider it.
Really consider it.
Not tactically.
Not as an outcome.
As a possibility.
“It won’t stay like this,” I say finally.
Not pessimistic.
Not negative.
Just true.
Logan’s mouth curves slightly.
“Didn’t think so.”
A beat.
“But we’ll get moments like this.”
