“You know I’ll help you pay for the lawyer.”

I would have gladly helped her with anything, but her stubbornness prevented me from lending a hand. Just like the prideful demeanor of many women we had known since childhood, she insisted on handling things independently, without my assistance. While she didn’t mind accepting small gifts or complimentary bottles from me, her ego prevented her from allowing her best friend to support her entire lifestyle.

She pouted with a sigh. As she gazed up at me, I saw the fear in her cat-like orbs. “Thank you, My—” Her phone started to ring in her hand, taking her attention. Seeing the number, her eyes widened. “Th–Thank you, Mythic,” she stuttered as she looked at the phone.

“Everything okay?”

“Y–Yeah,” she said, prying her eyes off her phone. “I just…I have to go. I have to go take care of something,” she rushed.

Furrowing my brows tightly, I nodded. I watched her now hurried demeanor as she shoved her phone into her pocket and started to back away. “I’ll call you later.”

I nodded as she rushed away. “Yeah. Do that.”

MIA GREEN

My phone was ringing again as I entered the stairwell of Enchant. Finally out of Mythic’s sight, I took it out of my pocket andanswered Damar’s call. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve been calling you all day!”

“You expect me to answer while I’m with Avi? She’s a wreck! Why would you accuse her of snitching on you?”

“Who else did? That jealous bitch told on me.”

“Calm down,” he gritted. “Meet me at the spot.”

“I’m on my way.”

As I paced the living room of the condo, my mind raced with fury and frustration. I was filled with rage and felt so betrayed. And every second that Damar sat on the couch appearing unmoved and unfazed made my frustration grow wildly.

I had done all of this for him, but now he had nothing to say. Watching him casually scroll through his phone was offensive. Walking up to him, I snatched it out of his hand and threw it on the couch. “Damar, do you even hear me? I know Aviana snitched to the twins.” Fuming, I started pacing again. “There’s no other explanation. She’s the one who blew my cover. I should have known she was a hating ass bitch. She didn’t get that position, so she got me fired.”

I stopped pacing and spun to face him. My eyes blazed when I realized that he had retrieved his phone and was sitting there casually responding to a text message. “I’m facing federal charges, and you’re just sitting there like you don’t give a damn? I had everything lined up for us, and now it’s all falling apart because ofher. I’m done playing nice. I’m going to make sure she pays for this. I’ll make her life a living fucking hell.”

Damar remained silent with his expression indifferent. His continued lack of response only fueled my anger. I threw my handsup in exasperation. “Do you even care? I was the one who followed your damn advice, who risked everything based on what you said. You taught me how to steal that money. You helped me spend this fucking money, and now you act like it’s nothing?”

Damar shook his head slowly with raised brows. “I told youhowto do it. That’s all I did.”

My shoulders slumped seeing his own fear of possibly being wrapped up in this.

“Baby, we can run away,” I offered desperately. “You have some of the money. We can run away together—me, you, and the baby.”

His cold eyes watched me as if I were being ridiculous. “Mia, we can’t be on the run like we’re drug lords. It’s the Feds. We’d have to run to Africa to keep them from finding us. You knew the risks when you started doing this shit. I only told you what to do, but I’m not involved in this shit anymore.”

“You think you can just act like you had nothing to do with any of this?” I spat, feeling his betrayal make me physically sick. “I’m the one left facing the charges while you get to sit back and enjoy your life? What about everything we have? You want nothing to do with this now, but you were right there with me when it all started.” My hands started to shake as I nervously ran my fingers through my hair.

Watching Damar’s uncaring attitude was like a dagger to my heart. I thought we were in this together, that we shared something real. We were supposed to save the money, start fresh, and build a life far away from all the lies and deceit. But now that the shit was hitting the fan on oscillate, he was being dismissive and cold, as if I was just a small inconvenience to him.

His lack of concern was intolerable. It felt like every dream I’d ever had with him was shattered in that instant. I had given him everything—my loyalty, my trust, and my love. And now, as Istood there, it hit me with brutal clarity: It had all been a lie. He never cared about me the way I had cared about him. All those whispered promises—the stolen moments of passion—meant nothing to him.

The realization ignited a rage so fierce it felt like a beast clawing its way out from within. I felt tricked. I could feel it swelling in me, making my hands tremble and my heart race. I wanted both of them to pay for this betrayal—DamarandAviana. This wasn’t just about revenge anymore; it was about unleashing the fury that was currently swallowing me whole.

The thought of Damar’s dismissive attitude and the way he had turned his back on me made my blood boil. He would not get away with this. I would make sure that every last person who had contributed to my downfall would face consequences. My rage had become uncontrollable, and it wasn’t going to stop until I had taken everything from everyone who had ever wronged me.

“You didn’t have anything to do with this?” I taunted him with narrowed eyes as I slowly licked my lips, tasting the rage coating them. “You don’t want to leave with me?Cool. I’m telling Aviana everything—how we’ve been sleeping together for the past year, how you’re the one that talked me into embezzling, how you’ve been spending the money with me and fucking me in this condo every chance you get. I’ll make sure she knows exactly who you are and everything you’ve done.”

Damar’s face darkened with a flash of anger. “I wish the fuck you would. You’re not going to say shit.”

I glared at him, my heart pounding with fury and hurt. “What’s wrong with me telling her? I thought you were leaving her. I thought you loved me. I thought she was a fat bitch who couldn’t make your dick hard.”

Damar slowly stood. I should have been scared of the rage that I saw in his eyes, but I was too filled with my own fury to pay it any attention.
