"You cried?" Chloe interrupts.
"Yeah. Not because it hurt, though it definitely did. But because all this emotion just came pouring out. All the fear of not being good enough, of failing, of disappointing people. And Ethan just held space for all of it. He didn't try to fix it or tell me I was being silly. He just let me feel it."
"That's beautiful," Emily says softly.
"It was. And afterward, he took care of me. Ran me a bath, washed my hair, put lotion on my skin. Held me while I processed everything." Tears prick my eyes. "I've never felt so seen in my entire life."
"Did it help?" Maya asks. "With the guilt and the pressure?"
"God, yes. It was like... I don't know how to describe it. Like I'd been carrying this weight, and he gave me permission to set it down. When it was over, I felt lighter. Freer."
Madison leans forward. "Can I ask something potentially invasive?"
"After what I just told you, I think we're past that point."
She grins. "Fair. Did you enjoy it? Like, physically?"
Heat floods my face. "Yes. Not in the way I expected, but yes. There's something about surrendering control to someone you trust completely. About knowing they're not going to hurt you, not really, even when they're being firm. It's... intense."
"Hot," Holly says definitively. "That's hot."
"It's also intimate," I add. "More intimate than sex, honestly. Because I had to be so vulnerable. I had to admit what I needed and trust him to give it to me."
"And did he?" Chloe asks. "Give you what you needed?"
"More than I knew I needed. He pushed me just enough to make me feel it, but never so much that I felt unsafe. And the whole time he was talking to me, asking me questions, making me articulate why this mattered."
"Like what kind of questions?"
"Why we were doing this. Who was going to make sure I took better care of myself. What I deserved." My voice cracks. "He kept telling me I deserved someone who cared enough to help me do better. That I was strong and brave and more than enough."
Emily wipes at her eyes. "Okay, I'm crying now."
"Same," Maya admits.
"So what happens now?" Amber asks. "Is this going to be a regular thing?"
"I think so? We talked about it afterward. He said sometimes I might need a conversation, sometimes just a reminder, andsometimes discipline. But it's always my choice. I can always say no."
"But you won't," Madison observes.
"Probably not. Because it works for me. It helps me." I look around at my friends. "Does that make me weird? Broken?"
"Absolutely not," Holly says firmly. "It makes you self-aware. You know what you need, and you're brave enough to ask for it."
"Exactly," Chloe agrees. "Most people spend their whole lives not knowing what they need, let alone being honest enough to pursue it."
"I kept thinking doing this makes me weak or stupid," I admit. "Like, we’re setting feminism back fifty years with our relationship choices."
"Lily, look at me." Madison's voice is serious. "Feminism is about choice. You choosing to submit to Ethan in this specific context doesn't make you weak. It makes you powerful. Because you're taking ownership of your needs and building a relationship that actually serves you. You get the choice to consent and to withdraw your consent and that is sexy."
"She's right," Emily adds. "As long as it's consensual and healthy and makes you happy, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks."
"Is it healthy?" Maya asks gently. "Like, does it feel balanced? Are you getting what you need?"
I think about the past few days. The way Ethan listens, how he respects my boundaries even while pushing me to explore new ones and makes me feel valued and cherished and safe.
"Yeah," I say. "It's healthy. He never takes without giving or getting consent. And he always, always puts my wellbeing first. He’s selfless in many ways."
