“The Bitch sent in a contractor when I was overseas for two days.”

“When were you overseas?” I asked him in surprise. “Angel did this?”

“She’s a swear word that starts with a C.” Onyx’s smile was tight.

“Is the office bugged?” I asked him with a laugh.

“It was. Bitch.”

“Maybe you should just bang her and get it over with?”

“More like bang her with a gun in my hand,” he snorted as I laughed.

Watching him, I placed my cup down. “You need to lay off Quinn. She’s not going anywhere.”

“And Ash?”

“Also going nowhere.”

“He loves her too.”

“No. He loved her. Once. Even then, I have my doubts. He cares for her, and that I don’t deny.”

Onyx threw his head back and laughed. “Of course you have your doubts, you’re blinded by her.”

“Believe what you want. I don’t need to justify myself to you about Quinn. Tell me what else you found out from the mutual acquaintance we had.”

“I got three names.” Onyx held his hand up to stop me. “I’m not telling you them, but I can tell you I’m looking into it.” He opened a drawer and handed me a file. “As is dad and our uncle,” he told me. “Third photo.”

I looked at the image of the guy with broad shoulders, buzz cut hair, and angled away from the camera. “Who’s this?”

“Well, that’s the million-dollar question, but from what I can guess, I believe George Lawrence may have recruited his own help.”

“Navy?” I asked in surprise.

“Ex SEALs, I would say, but yeah, there are too many players on my board.”

Closing the file, I let out a frustrated sigh. “What do we do?”

“Wedo nothing. You? You heal your hand and leave this to the adults.”

“So, what are you going to do while that’s happening?” I snarked at him.

Onyx smirked at my dig. “What I do best. I’m feeling like it’s time for some mayhem, my style.”

Ah fuck, I was afraid of that.

Chapter 32: Quinn

I sat in Jett’s bedroom on the couch with Gray beside me, his hand held tightly in mine, and I was grateful for it.

“Okay, so I’ve edited the fuck out of this. There’s nothing that you can see that will cause you distress. We just need you to look at the guys, see if you know them, recognize them?” Ash told me. His voice was low and steady, his look of concern trying to calm me down. I nodded when in reality I wanted to run for the door. The team had a bye week, and this is how they chose to spend their Saturday. I loved how much they cared, to give up their Saturday on this, but at the same time, a part of me would have preferred not to be here.

Which Gray knew, which is why he was holding onto me, and Jett was perched on the arm of the couch to my side, close but not touching, offering support. I knew I was being chicken, but I really didn’t want to look at the laptop Ash balanced on his knee.

The video played, and I forced myself to watch. I didn’t see the table or the girls, and there was no sound, but as I watched, I leaned in closer, trying to identify the men even though their faces were covered.

“Why are their faces covered?” I asked in the silence of the room.
