Peter groaned before sliding out of bed. He held out a hand toward Quain. “Want to wash myback?”

“I’d bedelighted.”

The pair went to shower. If they were fast enough, they could get in another round of sex beforelunch.

Chapter 9

Anthony woketo an uneasy stomach and rattlednerves.

“What’s wrong?” Silver asked, always sensitive to Anthony’smoods.

“I don’t know. There’s something in the air.” I have a sense offoreboding.

Silver sat up to give Anthony all of his focus. “Do you think your psycho relative is going to cometoday?”

“No. I think it’s still too soon. We should plan a strategy to deal with the wizards. Have you had a chance to callOliver?”

“Yeah, he’s meeting us here today after he talks to his contacts. If there is a ring of wizards capturing shifters, he should be able to findout.”

“Good.” The electricity in the atmosphere didn’t shift. “I might not have the sight, but something will happen today. I knowit.”

“Keep an eye out and don’t go anywhere alone,” Silverwarned.

“Okay.” In general, he would complain over his mate’s overprotective nature, but today, he planned on listening. Their past had had in it enough people trying to kill them for him not to take any threat seriously. Even with his abilities, there were always stronger people out there. A minor god against a powerful demigod might not survive. He hadn’t told Silver that he worried the man coming after him might be the more powerful between them. Silver had enough concerns over pack safety to start fixating overAnthony.

“I’m going to contact Zeus and see if he knows of any of Deimos’ descendants who might hold agrudge.”

“Good idea.” Silver slid his fingers through Anthony’s hair. “I’m going to work in the office for a bit. I’ve got some paperwork todo.”

“Aww, the dreaded paperwork. Pack life isn’t all about running and taking down deer,” Anthonyteased.

“No, sometimes it’s spanking your smart-assmate.”

Anthony laughed and grabbed the last sandwich on the platter that Henry had left for them in the kitchen. Henry had taken the day off to spend it with his mate. Although he often provided lunch, it wasn’t part of Henry’s contract with the pack. He only had to provide breakfast, dinner, and club menu items during the week. It was his good nature that had him leaving lunch for the Alpha and for Anthony when he was home. Anthony moaned as he sank his teeth in the seededbread.

“I love it when he makes fresh bread,” he said after heswallowed.

“I think it was Inno who made this. He left those scones this morning too,” Silversaid.

“Hmm, I adore that kid.” Anthony took another bite of hissandwich.

“Yeah, we really have a talentedpack.”

Anthony hummed his agreement. It wasn’t worth resisting another bite toreply.

After they finished their meal, Silver put their plates in the industrial dishwasher and headed to his office after a quick kiss to Anthony’s forehead. “Enjoy your chat withgranddad.”

“Thanks,” Anthony said dryly. Zeus and Silver didn’t getalong.

“If you leave the pack house, take a bodyguard with you,” Silverdemanded.

“Will do. Enjoy yourpaperwork.”

Silver made a low growl in his throat and gave Anthony a fake scowl. “Meanmate.”

A grin split Anthony’s face as his mate stomped away. It faded as he remembered their morning. It just proved how difficult it was to pinpoint danger. No one had thought the preacher could be a threat, but someone had made him into one. If it was the wizards, then they had found Peter’s shop faster than Anthony hadexpected.

Well, first on the list of things to do was contactZeus.
