Both of us would happily kick off our shoes, undress and sleep next to her, but will not for the simple fact Simona hasn’t outlined the ground rules to her nest yet. There’s no chance we’re invading her space. Until we know we can.
Which is pretty much the mantra for our life—no decisions until Sin has had the opportunity to make them on her own, without our influence. The tower of board games currently sitting on the dining room table and the stack of movies near the television are proof of our ethos. Same with the food we ordered—pretty much the entire menu so she can decide what she wants. She won’t ever go without.
Hendrix goes into his bedroom, leaving his door open. The shower in his bathroom starts up. The invitation is there for me to join. Like always. If Dominic was home, I’d be in with Hendrix, washing his back and sucking his cock, but tonight I want to make sure Dominic is okay and I don’t want Sin waking up without one of us around.
Setting the stereo on low and playing some new tracks I’ve been working on is as effective as a glass of wine, settling my own nerves.
I get a bottle of Dominic’s favourite red and his preferred scotch, not sure what he’s going to feel like. Making Hendrix a stiff G&T and myself a JD and Coke, I leave them on the bench and start walking through our home, turning the lights down low and opening the blinds and curtains up so we can see the skyline.
We bought this apartment because of its size, the location and the incredible views it offers. Having the penthouse also available to purchase was a bonus. An expensive bonus, but at the same time investing in property on this side of the city is and always will be a sure bet.
The security when we moved in here was abysmal. Now, thanks to Hendrix, we have it set up so not even a daddy longlegs spider can crawl in our home without us knowing. I thought it was overkill when we got it installed, and now that we have our Omega with us, I get a reminder all we’ve been doing the past few years is getting ready for her arrival.
Triple checking alarm is set in the penthouse and the cameras are online, I wait by the lift for Dominic.
As soon as the doors open, it’s clear he’s left his bitching mood downstairs. His eyes are full of warmth, and he looks more like himself and less like an asshole lawyer.
“Sorry, baby,” he offers, swooping in low for a kiss.
“Don’t be. You’ve been working your ass off night and day. You did amazing today, Alpha. I’m proud of you.”
“Yeah? How proud?” He smirks against my lips as we both move into our home as the lift doors start to shut on us.
“Hen’s in the shower if you want to see how much you impressed him today,” I offer, taking half the bags from him.
“Maybe after. I need a drink first.” He places the rest of the bags in the kitchen before walking off, making a beeline to her nest.
From the kitchen, I see his shadowy figure leaning against the door frame, watching her sleep. I feel his relief rippling through our bond, and after a while, I start to move around in the kitchen to guide him back this way so she can keep sleeping.
Walking him to his favourite chair, I pass him a glass of Scotch while helping him out of his suit. Dominic stays quiet, his soul-deep eyes tracking every movement—watching, claiming, owning me like he always has.
“You see our Omega sleeping peacefully?”
He nods his head, a faint smile lifting his lips. I carefully hang his jacket on one of our dining chairs and then return to undo his belt before opening his pants.
I kneel down, lifting one of his legs so he can free his foot before repeating the action on the other side. From this angle, looking up at him in his crisp white shirt and tight boxer shorts, the man is Adonis. I swear it.
I guide him to sit with a small push against his chest, and then we reverse positions when I stand. He takes another swig, finishing off his Scotch before his mood shifts.
A hand snakes around my side, and with a harsh tug, I fall against him. Which is exactly what he wanted.
“What do you need, Dominic?” I murmur, scent marking him.
He’s off kilter still.
“Food and sex,” he says, his voice dipping lower but not in warmth.
“We can do that. Relax for me. We’re safe.”
“Perhaps for a while,” he muses, eyes closed as I keep my face pressed to his. “Today wasn’t the win I wanted.”
“What did you want?”
“Their pain. I want them to look at Simona and feel actual remorse for their actions.”
“They’re not built like that. Your job isn’t to change the world, Dominic, it’s to keep us safe. Maybe you didn’t get our sweet Omega all the apology she deserves, but you got her freedom. They’ve given her nothing but grief and pain. Today proved that when they didn’t have the respect to even show up for the hearing. Our job as her Alphas, and her pack, is to give her closure and to get her to shine bright again.”
He trails his hand up from my hip to the side of my neck, pressing his thumb down so he can feel the steady pulse of my heart.
