I’m on autopilot as I take another step, drawn to his power and presence. He feels different to Kai, although I’m hard pressed to explain how he feels, the little voice in my head focussed on getting closer.
The music literally hurts my ears, it’s that loud, and he is in his own world. On some signal his hand hits on the treadmill stop button, but he’s still moving like his ass is on fire. His eyes are downcast when he jumps off the treadmill and smacks straight into me. Like smack bang.
It’s like hitting a wall. I bounce off him as my feet skate out from under me. Screaming, I flail backwards, my breath whoops out as I get winded by hitting the mat before he literally squashes me flat. I should be gasping for air, but of course it’s even more mortifying, I’m going cross-eyed as he all but breathes life back into my squished lungs. His super yummy scent is like sucking on happy gas, making me giddier with each inhale.
His eyes are a different green to Kai’s. Although anyone trying to explain the differences would be hard pressed. It would be like listing the differences between an Afghan and a Columbian emerald—both are vibrant bluish green with a vividness and a transparency that makes them not too dark, but shimmery. So, fucking pretty.
“Hmmm,” he purrs again.
My legs pop open at the noise. I try to close them, but he wiggles his weight on me, and since he’s all warm and sweaty, it’s dirty but decadent at the same time.
“Now that you can’t run away, perhaps I should introduce myself?” he murmurs, blowing his delicious chai latte scent into my face with every punctuated word he speaks. “Although, I kind of like this predicament we’re in.”
His voice is all rumbly, but he’s also dangerously close. So close I could lift up and press my lips to his without trying too hard. I swear to god, I think he’s got the same thought going on. I also think he’s going to pin my hands above my head… I twist slightly to catch a less spicy breath of air, and to get a hold of the fantasies in my head.
“Scent drunk is a dead-set side effect of meeting your match,” he smirks as he shuffles forward, “so is being so fucking turned on you can’t see straight.”
“I came down here to apologise,” I stutter, getting very lost in all the signals he’s giving off.
“I’m more of an action man.”
“I never would have guessed,” I offer, blinking innocently.
“Kai told me he barely kissed you before he was dropping into a rut.”
“He did?” I gasp, completely shocked. Most Alphas would never share something like that.
“We were raised,” he says, grinding his hips slowly against mine, “to accept nothing less than mind blowing from our mate. Who wants to be with someone where you can’t let go and be yourself with?”
And that is most definitely the point. I plant my feet on either side of his waist and try to lift my ass up an inch. You know, in support of the way our bodies are talking, testing theories and the like.
He stills, and his eyebrows pitch way high, and his emerald-green eyes sparkle even more. “Yeah, I’d roll you over onto your stomach and drive my cock right inside you, but Ramses is already freaking the fuck out that we ruined this, so I’m being a good brother and taking a rain check.”
He goes from lying flat on me, to straddling my waist, and I’m left gaping at the ripple of his muscles. I swear I’ve got something wrong with my eyes, I also miss when he nabs my hand and presses it over the front of his tented training shorts. “Stop feeling me up you feisty, delicious scenting slut.”
“God, really?” I blurt out a laugh.
“Darius works,” he winks.
“Is that your attempt at introducing yourself?”
“You won’t forget. I bet my name will be falling from your pretty lips soon enough. If you get it wrong, we’ll just keep going until you get it right.”
He’s a blur of movement and goes from stripper straddling to standing, and I go from flat on my back to cradled in his arms.
“I can walk,” I offer when I realise where I am.
“Not in my lifetime will I see you walk. I told you we only eat at one altar, and that is yours. You got no fucking idea all the ways I’m going to worship you, plus if Kai sees how happy I am, he’ll lose his shit.”
With one of his hands, he pushes my cheek to his sweaty but spicy chest before he shuffles his hand under my ass so he can hold me against his hard-on as we walk up the stairs.
“No shame?”
“It’s all about perception, little moon,” he chuckles, blowing even more of his scent in my direction, adding another spin to my dizzy, fuddled head.
“Little moon?” I ask bemused.
“Crashing into my world like you just did, you just changed my gravity. From this point on you’ve realigned yourself as my guiding light in the dark,” he’s talking seriously, like we’re discussing world politics. And then he winks, a smirk pulling up his lips making them too kissable. “I thought star was a bit over the top, plus you’ve got the best ass I’ve ever seen—so moon it was.”
