“Shut your mouth!” Raney hisses. “They’ll be doing the rounds soon, and if we get busted, she’ll confiscate what we have left.”

Except I’m pretty sure if Omega Katherine walked in on us tonight, she’d get to kiss my lily-white ass instead of getting an apology. Honestly, the Omega Mothers here really should bypass our side of the accommodation building. They should also stop trying to get us to see the error in our ways and admit they might have failed in schooling us in how to be cordial, softly spoken Omegas.

“Suck a dick!” Tristan screams out suddenly. For no other reason than to give Raney shit really. And to make a point she didn’t know she was making.

I laugh before taking another sip and get ready for Raney to lose her mind.

“Fuck off, Tris. And no, I didn’t get to the liquor store today, I’ll go tomorrow. Scorned honour,” Raney says as she leans over and nabs the rapidly diminishing vodka off the table to refill us all. “Okay, let’s go back to Kairo and try to keep your volume low, Tris, so I get the whole story please.”

“Oh, you should see him,” Simona says all dreamily. But the bitch laughs innocently when I glare at her.

“How’s he look?” Raney asks as she swings around to pin me with one of her stares.

“The green-eyed hottie looks like he wants to devour our bestie.” Tristan says hurriedly. Although Raney apparently has already been updated on my night because when I look to her she has her glass ready for us to clink our glasses together.

“Heidi Ho brings all the boys to her yard,” Simona starts singing under her breath.

I reach over Raney to squeeze Sim’s tit, singing the next line back at her. “Damn right, they’re better than yours.”

The four of us are tight. We’ve got enough bestie material to last a lifetime, big revelations need bigger memories. And we have shared some huge secrets between us. They know about Ayden, but I’m not sure if I want them to know about Kairo being my scent match.

“Don’t mention how we signed her up for the auction,” Simona fake whispers to Raney.

“Yeah well, I’m sure the Board will squash the auction outcome tomorrow, so it doesn’t matter,” I add. Out of everything that happened tonight, that seems the least of my worries, and I know my girls were trying to help in their own way.

“You didn’t have a Board Meeting for another couple of weeks,” Tristan says, sitting up and getting instantly serious.

“It’s been a night, Tris.” Placing my drink on the floor, I settle back in my snuggly seat. “Some parts were pretty awesome; more parts were so craptacular it makes my head spin.”

“What happened?” she asks again.

“Ayden was a prick all night. And I mean all night. I even got a free character assessment on the side of the road before I kicked him out of my car,” I tell them honestly.

“What the fuck?” Raney snarls.

“My sentiments exactly. Anyway, I’ve dealt with him the best I can,” I say, deliberately not sharing how offensive Ayden was being. Raney would have King or Koz taking him out, and while I’ve seriously considered it, I’m not going to do that. “Any chance he got he was there ramming home that I was an idiot or making everything overly difficult with Kairo.”

“And Kairo?” Tristan says, turning around to face me more.

“He wasn’t antagonistic, but at the same time, he wasn’t wasting energy being subtle. At times he was pretty blunt.”

Simona leans forward on her seat. “Standing up for you?”

“Yeah, he was.”

There’s a small pause before Raney pushes. “We will need a little more than that, Ho.”

“Yeah, I know, I’m just trying to figure out how it all works together.”

“He was good to you?” Raney pushes again, getting protective.

“Real good. Lots of little kisses, sadly without tongue. Dirty talking, hand holding, piggy backs and he made me feel special, you know…”

“What?” Raney gasps.

Because while I’m a serial dater, I don’t often have good things to say afterwards. Not that I’m hard to impress, I think it’s more I see straight through the posturing and nine times out of ten, it’s not me the date wants, it’s the benefits of being with me.

I laugh before taking another sip of my drink. “I know, right? I like him a lot. He was super direct with Bradley, handed over his ID without any fuss but also laid some ground rules straight up.”
