“Eyes on me, Heidi. They don’t matter,” I insist. Keeping my voice low like a whisper, I don’t bother hiding the added push of my Alpha, ensuring it isn’t a suggestion she hears.
A small rush of her submission settles over the both of us, and she moves her eyes back to mine again. And then with all her focus on me, I let my fingers glide up her arm to pull at the other sleeve of her dress, but I step closer to her so no one in the carpark would see her the way I can. “Arms up.”
One of her arms floats up, while the other presses against her chest to hold her dress up. I let my eyes drift down to the way she’s squeezing her hand to her chest, making her breasts press together and nearly spill out the top of her strapless bra.
“Are you teasing me on purpose?” I growl my question at her, and I watch as a wave of goosebumps race over her skin.
“Me? Get out, I’m cold.” She laughs, faking a shiver.
“No, you’re not.” I chuckle before pulling the hoodie over her head and moving her hair out the neck and then I put my hands back under the hoodie. While her arms shoot through the arm holes, I go straight for the prize. Her breasts fill my hands perfectly; her pert nipples press hard against my palms as I squeeze them, the slide of the silk against her skin feels heavenly. Even when she’s properly wearing my hoodie, I keep playing with her.
Her eyes jump over my shoulder again, and I can’t stop the growl like noise that rumbles out my throat. “What did I say about your eyes on me?”
“We’re in the middle of a carpark, anyone can see,” she says as she shuffles forward, even starting to hook a leg around my hip.
“Yeah, but I wouldn’t let them. All this is mine,” I insist.
Gravel crunches behind me, but I keep doing what I’m doing. To prove a point. To her. And them.
“Heidi, all okay?”
I twist her nipple hard when she goes to look away. Her eyes stay locked on mine despite the presence of someone else coming closer. “Good girl,” I say softly, rewarding her with my finger flickering over her nipple.
Her scent thickens, and her pupils dilate. My hands drop slowly across her stomach, and if it weren’t our first date, I would drop my hands in her panties and finger her until she screamed her release into my mouth. Instead, I take my hands off her body.
“Stay there. Don’t move,” I murmur, as I cup the side of her face. My thumb trails over her scent gland. Letting her know that’s mine too.
And then I spin and face both her security guards.

HEIDI
The only way to read Kairo’s posture as he stands in front of me is protectiveness.
“Is there a threat?” Kairo asks. His directness is aimed like an arrow before they get a chance to take another step.
Ayden laughs, and it’s an awful noise— harsh and condescending. And the way he sizes Kairo up is as rude as I think I’ve ever seen him act. “If you don’t think the way you drove here was putting her at risk, then you’re an idiot.”
“I’m an idiot?”
But Ayden ignores Kairo completely and goes to step past him. “Heidi, let’s go. Fun’s over.” I can feel the way Ayden’s looking at me, and if I stopped watching Kairo, I know I’d find Ayden’s eyes full of disappointment.
Once upon a time that would have hurt. It would have had me scurrying away back to the car in shame. But this is not about safety.
Kairo takes a small step, cutting off Ayden’s ability to stare at me.
“I already gave Bradley my ID and told him what I was doing with Heidi. To be a nice, friendly guy.” He talks loud enough for all of us to hear. And no-one misses the implied connotation that he can easily become an asshole like Ayden is currently acting.
“That was before you put her at risk. Do you realise how many times someone could have taken a shot at her? You’re way out of your depth, bar-boy. I will not have her put in danger, not like you have done already without even knowing,” Ayden snaps, and I pull my attention from Kairo to the anger in Ayden’s voice.
“From my understanding, paid bodyguards are there to provide protection, but so far, buddy, I have to say all you’re doing is being a prick having a temper tantrum.” Kairo rocks back on his heels when his words stop. Everyone picks up on the taunt he’s not so subtly delivering.
Ayden’s mood gets worse.
“I don’t answer to you.” He takes a step, pushing past the point of being polite and nearly ending up standing toe to toe with Kairo. Which not only confirms how tall Kairo is but also how different in temperament they are; he’s relaxed while Ayden is a rigid wall of angry energy.
“You right,” Kairo agrees. “You answer to Heidi and not the other way round. And if she was not feeling safe, I think she would have let me know, and I would have pulled over and put her in your car or talked to you about why she wasn’t feeling safe. Don’t mistake her having some freedom with me being irresponsible. Now excuse me, there is no threat here, and I promised Heidi I was going to feel her up on the beach. And for the sake of clarification, don’t fucking interrupt us again.”
