He twists the screen so we can both watch her, but he also logs on to the computer next to me. The mainframe of our gaming empire fills his screen.

“We need to sell that business,” I grunt while dragging one of the boxes of food he brought up closer.

Rameses has been cooking up a storm. Working off his emotional damage in the kitchen. Dare’s been in the gym doing something similar. Me? I’ve been importing kittens and spending a storm on the best comfort I can for our Omega.

We all have different coping mechanisms.

Darius is quiet as he works. His fingers flying over the keyboard as he drops into the server for our gaming empire. He pulls up a new file I hadn’t seen.

“So, couple of things,” he says. “Basil has been a very naughty boy. But Pack Lowly are also omitting some pretty important updates when they’re talking with our Omega.”

It grates on my nerves how he can be so unemotional when he talks about Pack Lowly. I nearly slap the back of his head, until he turns to me and I see the shimmer of violence in his eye. “Graham called and let little moon know Lowly were going away for the weekend. He neglected to say that old Basil was in hospital unable to swallow and lift a spoon.”

“Are you surprised?”

“Nah.”

“Worried?”

He snorts a derisive laugh, making me roll my eyes. “Also, nah. Once she checks her emails in the morning she’ll see Basil’s hospital admittance, and the doctor’s initial evaluation of his injuries. It will be enough. Our mate already knows Pack Lowly are a bunch of untrusting fuckers, all I’m doing is helping her feel better in that knowledge.

“Sharing is caring.” I shrug.

“Where’d you get the sphinxes. Good move, by the way.” He glares at me. Although it’s not a glare so much as one of those deadpan looks that lets me know how unimpressed my brother is.

“She needs them. They’ll be good for her.”

“At least you got them from a good breeder. Ma would be proud of you, Kai, being so manipulative.”

“It’s not quite like that. But yeah, I did intentionally go for something that would be hard to throw out, but I think they’ll be good for her too, Dare. They’re going to love her.”

“Like you do?”

“Exactly like I do,” I offer back in an instant. I’ve got no bones about telling my brothers I’m smitten and head over heels for Heidi. Jesus, I knew the second I scented her, she was mine, the transition from that blinding connection to feeling what I do for her happened a little slower, but it still happened. I lean in to get a better look at the screen. Kicking Dare’s foot and grinning like an alligator when Heidi wakes up and her hands pat around the blankets until they rest where I can only assume the two kittens are.

“You’re a fucker,” he growls, but I can see his brain ticking as he starts thinking of what he can get for our girl.

Showering her in gifts is happening. Until she lets us back into her life properly, she’s not going to suffer from questioning if we’re interested or not.

“Basil stole the game framework and concept,” Darius says after making an aww noise as he watches our girl for a few more minutes.

“Not that much of a discovery there, Bro. Everyone in the industry knows he did,” I offer, taking another mouthful of the chunky stew that Ramses has been busy making. I groan around the fork, the meat so tender, the spices so well balanced it’s impossible not to think of happier times with our parents.

Ramses unintentionally always seems to get lost in feeding us with food either Ma made or one of our dads. I’m not sure he’s aware, although knowing Ram, everything he does is considered. But when he’s upset, or angry, he’s pulling out the family cookbook.

“Yeah, but I’m not sure Basil wanted me to take everything from his drawer of secrets.”

“What else did you find?” I ask, wiping my mouth and leaning in to see what he’s looking at.

Darius is meticulous in the way he sets up servers. I mean, we all are. But for a hothead, he’s very anal about file names and encrypted filing.

He uses a pen to point out the obvious. “Game thievery, bit of a win because we can provide them to a few people and they can take copyright action. General dodgy shit that Pack Lowly are involved in, nothing too untoward except personally, I’m not a fan of gambling and someone in that pack has a rather large issue, and a long losing streak.”

Dare starts eating, while I click through and have a look for myself. Someone in Pack Lowly does have a problem gambling.

“Open that one,” Darius says, using his fork to direct me.

“Gamma Pharm?” I snort out a laugh at how stupid the name is.
