Ares waits eagerly, just out of reach. “Ares, get your fat head out the way, you are not eating him.” I hip check my dog out the way, making a bee line to a thick shrub over to the side.

Valak takes a second to catch up with me. “Lennon? What the hell are you doing?”

“Moving the spider so we can go for a walk. Isn’t that what you wanted?”

“You’re carrying a fucking spider, woman!”

“Yeah, I know. I didn’t mean to freak you out. Don’t be embarrassed about having arachnophobia, heaps of people do,” I say, focusing on getting a safe spot for the spider, essentially shoving him into the thickest part of the branch before I shake off his web.

Ares keeps standing on his back two feet in order to see where I put him, and I have to keep shoving my butt in his face to keep him away. With spidey safe, I turn to my dog and hunch down low, getting ready to rumble, when another blast of lightning rattles the windows in the house. Thunder rolls instantly after, and I squeal like a piggy when Ares leaps at me, falling straight down onto my butt.

Valak leaps into action, but I swat his hand away. “I’m good. Ares is sulking because I didn’t let him eat spidey, is all.”

Poor Valak looks lost as he squats down looking at me.

“What’s wrong? Did I do something wrong?”

He pulls back a bit at my question before he shakes his head, mumbling, “No, my bad.” He stands and steps away, waiting for me.

“Nah, you’re not walking away from whatever just happened. Help me understand,” I ask, not bitchy, but not exactly sweetly either. I’m not a fan of leaving things weird. If I did something to upset or offend him, I need to know.

I stand in front of him, one hand on my hip. Okay, maybe I get a little bratty, but I’m not letting this go. We’re meant to be finding out about each other, not avoiding getting to know one another, plus you know that’s how I am, subtle as a sledgehammer sometimes.

He throws his hands up, ignoring the rain that is starting to fall. “The spider. I told you it was there so you didn’t walk into it. Most women would be inside getting a flame thrower. But not you. Oh no, you have to go all Steve Irwin on me and save it like it’s the last of its species. And then your dog, nearly…”

I start laughing. “Valak, haven’t you figured out yet I’m not like most women?”

He doesn’t say anything for a bit, just kind of glares at me. “I’m learning that. Slowly,” he grumbles eventually.

And I nearly pee my pants at how hard it is for him to say it. He is the opposite of Gabe.

“Come on, let’s take your dog for a walk before it gets so hard we can’t find our way back.” He turns and starts walking off, his steps a little stompy, and I’m still laughing. He swings around at the top of the path to see where I am, but he’s taking giant steps, and my socks are mushy. There’s no way I’m letting him notice I’m not wearing shoes, so I hide my feet behind a low bush. He’d freak if he knew. The rain picks up, we probably should have grabbed an umbrella.

“Don’t tell me you’re afraid of a little rain, Len,” he deadpans back at me.

And you know some things are like a red flag at a bull, his half joking, half condescending smirk has me sprinting at him. He sees me though, and takes off like a rocket, yelling over his shoulder. “Come on, keep up.”

Honestly, it’s like Valak’s had a personality transplant. And that sudden thought has me realising Gabriel is playing the biggest practical joke on me. But he just called himself out by calling me Len, there’s no way Valak would do that.

I’ve heard lots of stories involving twins switching, and I wouldn’t put it past him, I mean, it could have been either of them working before. Luckily, I caught on before I made a right dick of myself.

My speed picks up, my legs go a million miles an hour, and as soon as he’s close enough, I leap and shove my hands into his back, making him stumble and fall. He lands on all fours, and before he can climb to his feet or say a word, my hands dig into his pants, making a beeline for the way I know I can identify Gabe. My fingers basically follow the line of his tight ass, and I guess I have him frozen in surprise because he doesn’t do anything. I tap his asshole for fun before I wedge my hand deeper inside his pants to cup his balls while I search for his piercing. It’s that or trying to make him squat, but he wasn’t going to do that. I saw the challenge in his eyes, the laughter he was having on the inside of his head knowing he’d tricked me good.

“Can I ask what you are doing?” he hisses out, although it’s not like a strangled hiss, more of a holy shit do that again hiss.

Cupping his body from behind with mine, I keep fondling his balls before I reach around and run my hand up and down his length a few times, because really, he deserves it after playing me like that. And then I chuckle in his ear as I move back to play with the piercing he told me about. It takes a couple of sweeps of my hand.

“I can’t find it!” I blab out, after a whole lot of finger action.

“Oh no, you found it,” he says as he somehow digs his hands under where my hands are and places them on his dick, which is getting harder and longer by the second.

“Did your piercing fall out?” I ask, nuzzling my face into his back. Holy shit, it’s a complete turn on feeling him up as the rain picks up harder and harder. I’m both hot and cold and the idea of being outside in nature is adding to the whole feeling.

The rain is pelting harder, and yeah, I completely get caught up fondling him.

A voice sounds behind me, the sky blasting alight as another dazzling display of lightning turns night into dark.

“Len, what the fuck are you doing to my brother?”
