“Uh, isn’t the Blisswood winery your brother’s ex in-laws’?”

“There are no hard feelings. So it’s the Dizzy Duck? Dinner or should we just stay the night. Wait…” He holds up a finger. “Scratch that. Keats is there a lot as his sister works there. Too risky.”

My shoulders lift then sag. “Probably anywhere in a 20-mile radius is out of bounds.” I almost frown because I’m not enjoying this obstacle. But being out in the open with all to see is a whole new ballgame.

Oliver’s lips quirk out and then ease into a coy look. “I’ve got it.”

“What?”

“You’ll see.”

I’m curious, but I’ll accept that it’s a surprise. “No pressure or anything but my expectations are high,” I tease him.

He grips my hips and in one swift move shifts us until I’m on my back and he’s hovering over me. “Don’t you worry. Now be a good wife and open those thighs. I’m starving for you.”

Heat prickles all over my body and my arm snakes between us so I can touch him, and he isn’t lying.

I would say he only came over for sex except you show feelings through actions and everything he keeps doing for me erases that thought.

“Oliver, I want hard and fast.” My breath is already heavy and my voice scrapes.

“Whatever you say.”

He kneels with one leg between my thighs. Watching him unbuckle his pants causes my pussy to pulse with need.

His sight stalls on me, and the promise of fast turns into Oliver sliding over me to slowly brush his lips on mine with intention.

“My wife.” His whisper cascades down my neck until he plants a soft kiss on my shoulder and slides down the strap of my tank top before his teeth capture the ring on the chain.

This man is feral most the time, but this time the glint in his eyes is a promise.

OLIVER

Liam stares back at me through the screen on my phone as I stand in the parking lot of the park outside of town. This is the worst possible time for him to video call, but I already let him go to voicemail earlier when I was in the grocery store buying a few items.

“You’re on your honeymoon. Why the hell are you calling me?” I’m slightly bewildered as he stands in kayaking gear and pines are the backdrop. “You should be MIA to anyone you know.”

He has a sheepish grin from that fact. “We only have a few days more before we drive back east. I was wondering if you could maybe tone down my sister.”

I flinch and crane my neck. “Oh? How so?”

“Judging by my call with her earlier and her peppy tone, I’m positive she’s going to decorate my house or some shit like that as our welcome home, but that’s just not us. A simple bouquet of flowers or fruit basket will do. Knowing Hailey, she will probably spread flower petals somewhere and that stuff is a pain in the ass to clean up. She already mentioned she is organizing a birthday party for you since I’m not around to do it. Again, she’s lost her marbles. Like is she on some drug I’m not aware of? Changedher coffee order? Anyhow, you probably know more than me since you see her a lot.”

My stomach sinks and I swallow, trying to figure out what he is implying. “See her a lot? Nah, no more than normal.”

“Really? I mean, you live on the same street.”

I scratch the back of my neck and play it cool, even though guilt cuts through me due to the complexity of the situation or the fact that every time he brings up Hailey my heart jumps. “Opposite ends. Plus, I’m normally at work until late.”

Then screw your sister senseless because she’s my wife.

“Oh, okay, cool.” He seems to buy it, and he looks over his shoulder. “Our instructor is telling us it’s time. I gotta go.”

“Yes! Please. You’re newlyweds and shouldn’t even have left your hotel room, but fine, go kayak.” I smirk. Their idea of a honeymoon is hiking and adventure sports.

I would say that I’m a hypocrite for roasting his ideas of what the newlywed phase should look like, but I now have my own.
