My eyes catch Lucas’s, and we give each other a saccharine look that melts me every time.

Within minutes, Lucas cuts the cake and he gives me a piece.

He mumbles through his clenched teeth with hopes that Theo doesn’t hear, “Remember, best cake ever.”

I laugh, and when I take a bite of cake that hits my taste buds with an explosion of salt and sugar, I nearly choke on this fact and I’m trying to swallow it. “Wow… that’s uhm… delicious cake,” I pretend and smile to Theo.

When Theo pays no attention to us, I look at Lucas who holds his hands up. “We may have used too much sugar in the icing, and well, might have confused salt and sugar somewhere too.”

“I don’t care. I love it anyways. Just make sure Romeo doesn’t get to it, otherwise he’ll become a patient tomorrow at my clinic.”

Theo comes running to me with a picture he drew. I do my best to translate a four-year-old’s drawing, but I am struggling and look at Lucas for a clue.

“It’s all three of us, plus Romeo and I think a lizard,” Lucas clarifies.

“Ahh so it is. Can I put this on my fridge?” I ask Theo who nods.

“Your gift is later,” Lucas warns me, and it sends goosebumps down my spine.

After clearing the cake, Lucas goes to drop Theo off at Isabella’s. Meanwhile, I clean up the mess that Theo left. I know Lucas is going to get annoyed that I do it, but I also know Lucas would just wait for the cleaner to come tomorrow to clean the kitchen.

A little while later, I feel a pair of strong arms wrap around me as I stand behind the kitchen sink.

“Abby, what have I told you?” Lucas grumbles into my neck, and I can feel his warm breath.

“I know, I know. But what are you going to do? Spank me?” I challenge, and Lucas softly slaps my ass before turning me around, grabbing my hands and guiding me to follow him.

We head upstairs, and when I arrive to his room, I see two beautifully wrapped gifts sitting on his bed. A bag stuffed with perfect tissue paper of gold and purple and a small box of blue paper.

I bite my lip and gently smile as I walk to the bed and Lucas goes to sprawl himself out on top of the duvet by leaning on his side.

“Open them,” he requests gently with a smooth smile.

I decide to open the bag first as I know where it’s from. I have shopped there myself a few times.

“Should I even ask if your mother was involved with this purchase?” I joke as I balance the straps of the bag on my finger, and it makes him laugh and slightly shake his head.

“She did say she wanted to go present shopping with me.” He then holds up a hand. “But I gave her a hard no, so this is 100% me.” He’s now proud.

My hand reaches in the crinkly rough paper, and I feel the soft satin. I pull it out and see that it’s black, satin, and light on coverage. A beautiful nightie with barely there straps. His eyes flash at me and I know this is more for him than me, and it turns me on so much that I already feel drenched.

“I think I’m going to try this on tonight,” I say softly, and it’s sultry.

“Put it on and come back,” he demands.

I nod in agreement and quickly head to the bathroom where I throw on the lingerie. Looking in the mirror, I feel confidently beautiful. The gown falls perfectly on my curves, and the material is light to the touch. The perfect barrier between my skin and hopefully Lucas’s lips. It barely covers my behind and has a low back. The front dips low just in the right spot.

Emerging from the bathroom, I receive a groan of pleasure from the back of his throat, and I see Lucas waiting for me patiently just in his boxers now. He didn’t shave today, so the stubble on his face will tease me extra. Joining him on the bed, I go to kneel next to him and he holds out the next gift.

“What’s this?” It comes out delicate because it feels like a jewelry box and that makes my heart race.

I begin to open the paper as Lucas explains. “I wanted to get you something nice and thought this may do to the trick. I know you can’t wear it when you’re at the clinic, but—”

I shush him as I see the contents. “It’s beautiful. I love it.” I beam as he begins to put the bracelet on my wrist. The silver bracelet has two charms. One of a dog bone, and the other of a stethoscope. It sums up my life perfectly.

Immediately, I grab his face and kiss him deeply. “It’s perfect.” I love that he put thought into it. This gesture swirls a feeling of desire in me.

“Good. I wasn’t sure if it was your style.”
