“Lupo, Falco – open it up,” I snapped.
“Boss,” Lupo whimpered. “Please – we don’t know how many are in th– ”
I raised my gun and shot him in the head.
Lupo fell to the ground with the other dead bodies.
Now I only hadsixguys.
At this rate, I wasn’t going to haveanyleft.
“Falco, open the door,” I ordered. “Scartellato, get ready to light it up.”
Falco and Scartellato looked at each other fearfully.
Then Falco grabbed the door handle –
Scartellato held out his assault rifle –
And Falco mouthed,One, two, THREE!
He flung open the door –
And Scartellato fired blindly into the room as a hail of bullets took him down.
There was a high-pitched scream inside –
A woman.
That chick I saw in the wheelchair.
Falco was sweating by the door, afraid to move –
So I grabbed him and used him as a shield as I stepped into the room firing.
Bullets hit Falco – I could feel the impact through his body –
But I managed to kill the lastCosa Nostrastanding.
Another one was splayed out on the floor.
As soon as I was sure they were both dead, I ditched Falco and let him bleed out at my feet.
Four guys left, all of them in the waiting room.
“Stay there,” I ordered Serpente, Guercio, Mangiavatt, and Cinghiale.
They didn’t have to be told twice.
I entered the examination room and looked around.
A silver-haired doctor in a white coat was crouched in the corner, hands over his head –
As a whimpering sound came from behind an examination table.
I looked at the doctor. “Where’s Dario Rosolini?”
The doctor looked up at me. His face twisted in outrage, and he said in a voice like a pissed-off schoolteacher, “Youmurderer – ”
