I was about to slam Lucrezia’s head against the door again when Ciro spoke up from behind the wheel.

“Boss – look!” he said as he passed back a pair of binoculars.

I put them to my eyes and saw the prettiest thing I’d seen in days:

All the cop cars in front of the hospital were pulling out of the parking lot.

I laughed maniacally. “IT WORKED! Ciccio, keep it up!”

He didn’t even have time to reply before I hung up on him.

“So,” Lucrezia said in a fake saccharine voice, “I guess you’re going after Dario Rosolini now.”

“Fuckin’ right I am,” I said as I reached for the car door handle.

“What about Romeo?” she demanded. “He’s supposed to stay here withme.”

FUCK.

After all of Lucrezia’s bullshit, I wanted to tell her to suck my dick –

But I was still fucking pissed at Romeo for what he did at the farm.

Ishould’vemade him walk in front of us when we got inside the hospital – he could be the cannon fodder –

But I knew that was fucking stupid. Romeo was one of my best guys.

Still… he hadput his hands on me… so he had to be punished.

Act like a bitch, get slapped like a bitch.

Even if it made Lucrezia happy, unfortunately.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Romeo.

He answered immediately.“Yes?”

“Get the fuck over here,” I snapped, then hung up.

A second later, he jumped out of the rear SUV and jogged towards ours at the front.

He reached us just as the cop cars from the hospital raced past us on the main road, their sirens screaming.

Have fun getting shot, fuckin’ pigs.

Romeo opened the passenger front door and slid inside. “Yes?”

“You’re staying here with Lucrezia,” I ordered him.

“You don’t want me to go with you?” Romeo asked in surprise.

“Did I fuckingstutter?”

“No,” he replied quietly.

I glared at him, then looked over at Ciro in the driver’s seat.

I hated what I was about to do – I could’ve used him inside the hospital – but I didn’t trust my sister as far as I could throw her. And I certainly didn’t trust Romeo to stand up to her once I was gone.
