Cap stood up, grinning from ear-to-ear. “I got it,” he exclaimed loudly. “What if we call him Pincher? You know, since he pinched your bike, Scorpio, and a crab’s claws are called pinchers.”
Scorpio glared at Cap just before nodding in agreement. “I like that. Pincher it is. From this day forth, Dillon shall be called Pincher in the club. Welcome to the Celestial Sons, Pincher.”
Every man in the club patted me on the back as Zodiac slammed his gavel onto the table.
“Okay, now that Pincher’s officially part of the club, we have to figure out what our next step is. Cap, any ideas?”
“Well, Grief’s Conviction is coming through town in about a month and has personally asked for our club to fill in as bodyguards while they’re here. Bull, they specifically asked for you. Do you think you’re up for it?”
Bull looked conflicted, but nodded his head. “Yeah, I’ll make it work.”
“Are you sure?” Cap asked.
“Yeah, Cap. Just drop it. I’ll get it done.”
It was obvious there was something about this band that Bull didn’t like, but what it was, I had no idea.
Cap nodded his head and looked over at Zodiac. “Then it’s settled. The club’s going to help the band out while they’re here. I’ll set everything up.”
“Okay. Archer, where are we at with the Hell’s Artillery? Any word on where they are at or where they might have Pincher’s sister?”
Even though they were bringing up Joey again, I liked hearing my nickname. It made me feel important, like I meant something to the club and them.
“No. They’re still underground, but Juliette said the second they come up for air, they’ll let us know.”
“Scorpio, is Juliette going to be okay at the sheriff’s office, knowing that half the men there are on Beretta’s payroll?”
Scorpio nodded. “My girl is a strong one, Zodiac. She’s got shit under control.”
“Good. Now, before I call this meeting to an end, do we have any other club business to tend to?”
Every man looked around, but no one said a word.
“All right, let’s get the fuck out of this room and celebrate our newest edition. I’d offer you a drink, Pincher, but you’re a little too young for that.”
I laughed, knowing he was right.
When we exited the room, all the women were waiting for us, including Sienna, who was grinning like a loon.
I immediately hobbled over to her, poking her playfully in the ribs. “You knew this was coming, didn’t you?”
Her smile widened. “A giant birdie might have told me.” She flashed a wink Archer’s way as he walked across the room toward the bar. “Are you mad I didn’t tell you? I wanted it to be a surprise.”
I showed her the leather cut they handed me, and she helped me put it on.
“It looks good on you, Dillon.”
I beamed with pride. It was nice to know I was part of a family for the first time in my life.
“It’s Pincher now.”
She gasped. “They gave you a name?”
I motioned to the little crab patch they placed directly over my heart. Each of them had a similar patch on their cuts, all of them depicting their different signs.
“It’s because I’m a Cancer.”
She grinned. “Well, isn’t that something?”
