Archer nodded. “We’ve got people out looking for her, Dillon, but I’m afraid they’ve taken her underground, along with the rest of the club. For right now, the Hell’s Artillery has completely disappeared from Rising Star.”
“Does that mean they’re gone?”
“No,” he stated, shaking his head. “It means they’re smart and have chosen to hide over getting caught. Juliette’s got a bunch of law enforcement out looking for them, but she’s not sure who she can trust currently. After her father’s best friend turned on her, the only people she trusts are us.”
“I can see why. You’re the only people I trust, too.”
Archer grinned. “I knew we’d rub off on you eventually, kid.”
“Great, now you’re calling me kid, too.”
He ruffled my hair. “I’m just giving you a hard time, Dillon. You should know that Sienna has been here every day since I brought you here.”
My gaze moved over to where Sienna was standing. She hadn’t let go of my hand since she pulled away from our hug.
“Is that true?” I asked, smiling brightly.
“Yeah, I was afraid you wouldn’t make it, and Archer had club business to take care of, so when he couldn’t be here, I was.”
“Where exactly am I?” I asked, unfamiliar with my surroundings.
“You’re at my place,” Archer exclaimed, walking over to the window. “I figured this was the safest place I could care for you. The clubhouse is kind of crowded right now, and the strip club really isn’t the best place for you to stay while you’re recovering. I hope that’s okay.”
“It’s fine. You have a beautiful home.”
“Thanks. It brings me a lot of peace and serenity. I hope it will do the same for you, Dillon.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’d like to open my home to you. I know you’ve had a rough life and have moved from home to home, but I’d like to offer you a place to stay. It’s up to you how long you want to stay here.”
My heart warmed a little over the thought. I liked Archer a lot, and he had a really nice looking home—nicer than any house I’d ever been in. “You’re asking me to live with you?”
“Yeah, Dillon. My home is your home now. And when we find your sister, my door is open to her as well.”
“Wow, I don’t know what to say.”
“It’s okay to say yes and thank you, Dillon. Trust me, it’s going to make you feel better if you do.”
I nodded because he was right. My entire life had been lived jumping from home to home, never feeling safe, and always being on guard. Having a place to stay that was not only comfortable but made me feel safe would be a welcomed change.
“Okay, but only if you let me pay you rent or something.”
Archer stroked his chin, and the corners of his mouth ticked up. “We’ll talk about the logistics later. Anyway, I’m gonna call Zodiac and Scorpio to let them know you woke up. They want to meet with you as soon as possible.”
“Meet with me? Why?”
Archer frowned. “Because you still have to face them for stealing the bike, Dillon.”
“Oh…”
Sienna squeezed my hand as Archer exited the room. I was too beat up to run, so I just sagged against the bed in defeat. “You know, it would be just my luck that I would survive death multiple times, just to die at the hands of a bunch of passive bikers.”
Sienna giggled. “They’re not going to kill you, Dillon.”
“Says the girl who didn’t steal their bike.”
The bed dipped beside me as she climbed onto it, making sure to snuggle up to the side of my body that wasn’t currently in a cast.
