Zodiac nodded.
“Two.”
All the men grimaced. “That’s not enough.”
Juliette hung her head. “Yeah, I need to clean out the rats, but I haven’t had the time yet.”
“Then we need to come up with a different plan,” Zodiac suggested. “One that will free Dillon’s sister and get Scorpio his bike back.”
“That sounds dangerous,” Juliette complained.
Zodiac and Scorpio shared a look before they motioned to the rest of the club. “I’m calling Church,” Zodiac shouted. “Everyone to the meeting room ... NOW!”
All eyes fell on me as I hung my head in defeat. I wish I had a better explanation for them, and I felt strong enough to tell them all about my past, but I just couldn’t, not when all of my skeletons were choking me and holding me prisoner inside my own body.
“Dillon, I’m going to ask you to wait outside the meeting room. Thank you for telling us the truth, but you have to know that what you did was something I don’t think I can forgive,” Scorpio exclaimed.
Shame filled me when I saw the disappointment in Scorpio’s eyes. At one point, he actually seemed to like me. Now he looked at me with nothing but hate.
“Before you go, please watch this video. I know you don’t know my sister, but she risked her neck to get me this.”
I turned on the video and faced it towards Juliette.
Her eyes widened.
On the screen was the rally, and you could clearly see her father in the right side of the frame. On the left, you could see Shotgun pull out his gun, firing a single shot into the sheriff’s chest.
“That’s Shotgun,” I filled them in. “The same man my sister is tied to as an Ol’ Lady. He’s also the man who repeatedly raped her in front of me, along with the rest of his club.”
“Damn, kid, you really have a story to tell, don’t you?” Zodiac asked.
“I do, and I promise to tell you it all if you guys help me get Joey out of there. Please. My sister is all I have, and I know I did you wrong by stealing your bike, Scorpio, but I can’t just let her die. She sent me that video. She’s the only reason you know who shot Juliette’s father or where your bike is.” I motioned to his woman, who was watching the video again with rage and tears in her eyes.
Scorpio nodded, more to his other club members than at what I said.
“Church!” Scorpio bellowed, making every man jump up from the table at the same time. His angry gaze narrowed on me as he pointed a single finger at me. “Don’t you go anywhere, kid, we’re not done.”
“I have no plans to go anywhere, Scorpio. I have no where else to go.”
The club walked away, leaving me and all their women sitting there staring at each other.
Juliette was the first to speak, her eyes slowly moving up from the phone as she tried to paint a smile on her face.
“It’ll be okay, Dillon. If there’s one thing I’ve learned since meeting Duncan, it’s that the Celestial Sons are a group of good men. They won’t hurt you. I can promise you that.”
I stared at my hands that were shaking with fear. Mine and my sister’s life were sitting in the palms of the Celestial Sons' hands. I wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t help me. After what I did, I didn’t deserve their help, but I couldn’t help staring up at the sky and praying for their forgiveness, anyway.
I know what I did was wrong. And I’m doing my best to make up for that, but that didn’t change the fact that my life was hanging in the balance, and my future with the Celestial Sons depended on what they decided behind those closed doors.
Hopefully, they were as merciful as everyone made them out to be. Otherwise, I’m as good as dead.
Chapter Twenty-Four
“Hey, Dillon, how you holding up?” I looked up to find Sienna standing over me as I awaited my fate with the Celestial Sons.
“I’m okay, I guess. They know almost everything, but not everything they should. I plan to tell them the rest later.”
She noticed my crossed fingers and took my hand. “You’re crossing your fingers?”
