“I told you the last time I saw you that I had friends that could help get you out of here.”

She looked at me nervously. “Yeah, I remember…”

“Well, I’ve been working for the Celestial Sons MC in their strip club, and I think they could help you, Joey.”

“Help me how?”

“Help you get away from the Hell’s Artillery. Help you from getting raped and beaten by its members.”

She looked at the ground, ashamed of her current circumstances.

“It’s not that bad.”

“Joey, that’s crazy talk. We both know how bad it is, otherwise, you wouldn’t have flashed me our sign for danger.”

“There’s no saving me, Dillon. I don’t know how I can get that through your head, but there isn’t. Especially now.”

“Why do you say that?”

She turned around, showing me the leather jacket on her back again. “See? It says, ‘Property of Shotgun’. He made me his Ol’ Lady, which means there is no leaving the Artillery, not unless Shotgun gets killed or I’m in a body bag.”

“I’ll kill him myself,” I growled, angry that the big ape actually laid his claim on my sister. “Then you’ll be free.”

She crossed her arms, continuing to keep her distance from me.

“Dillon, I can’t keep having this conversation with you. I need to get back. So why don’t you tell me what you need before you get us both killed.”

“I need information. I did something to try to save you from the Hell’s Artillery.”

“What do you mean?”

“I stole a bike for Beretta, hoping he’d let you go. What I didn’t realize was that the bike belonged to the Celestial Sons specifically to their VP. After everything they’ve done for me, the only right thing I can do is get it back for Scorpio and right the wrong I committed. I also want to help them figure out who shot the sheriff. I know if I can get them that information, it might make up for everything I did—for betraying them without knowing.”

Joey was looking at me like I had lost my damn mind. And maybe I had. What I wanted to do seemed impossible. How do you steal a bike back from a group of bikers who already tried to kill you once?

“And how do you think I can help?”

“I need to know the location of the bike and see if you can flush out who shot the sheriff. If you do that, I know the Celestial Sons will help me get you out of there. They’ll protect you, Joey. I know they will.”

“I can’t do that, Dillon. Fishing for information like that will get me killed.”

“You’re the only one that can help me, Joey.”

She glared at me. “Haven’t you learned by now, Dillon? You can’t trust anyone in this world. You can’t trust the Celestial Sons, either. The second you tell them you stole the bike, you’ll lose their protection, and then what happens, Dillon? You’ll be back out on the streets. Just do us both a favor and stay quiet.”

“I can’t do that, Joey. Please. Just find out where the bike is for me. If you don’t have information about the shooting, that’s fine, but I need to get the bike back. It’s pretty noticeable. If Beretta still has it, you’d know it. It’s painted like the stars in the galaxy.”

Her eyes widened.

“You’ve seen it, haven’t you?”

She bit her bottom lip. “Yeah, I’ve seen it.”

I took a step forward, gripping my sister’s arms. “Please, Joey. Tell me where I can find it.”

She sighed, moving out of my grasp. “It’s in the same place we last saw each other, Dillon.”

“At the compound?”
