“That’s great. So, what’s the problem?”
Renee’s forced smile warned of bad news.
“What is it, Renee?”
Renee took a deep breath and covered his hand with hers. “It’s your sex tape. Umm… the video, Governor. It resurfaced.”
Victor frowned. “What? What sex tape? I don’t have a sex tape.”
Renee dropped her head. “You do, sir. Well, the video of you and Mrs. Creed in your office.”
“Whaaat?!” Victor roared.
Hate and anger bubbled to the surface at the thought of images that would compromise his wife’s dignity.
“Get Jaysen on the phone!”
NIYAH
Niyah stepped off the elevator, wondering if Xander was inside. The last time she’d seen him, he was in the restaurant hugged up with a Megan Fox look-alike in a tight pencil dress that pushed her tits up to her chin. Niyah had tried to pretend like it didn’t bother her seeing Xander with that girl. But, of course, Leo had called her out and laughed in her face.
“So much for no white boys,” he’d teased.
Niyah punched the code and walked inside. She dropped her bag by the door and kicked off her heels. The heavenly aroma coming from the kitchen drew her in like the Pied Piper. She hadn’t eaten at the restaurant. Thoughts of the danger she was in because of her sister’s actions had destroyed her appetite.
Niyah walked down the short hall and entered the kitchen. Xander was at the stove, stirring something in a pot. The white T-shirt he was wearing showed off the muscles in his sleek torso and sturdy arms.
“Didn’t you just eat?” Niyah asked, moving further into the kitchen.
Xander shook his head. “Didn't get a chance to.”
Niyah frowned. “Too busy with your dark-haired lady friend?” She couldn’t stand the jealousy in her tone.
Xander turned around with confusion etched on his face. “What are you talking about?”
Niyah walked over to the cabinet that housed her wineglasses.
“I already poured you one,” Xander informed her, pointing to a glass of wine on a counter by the fridge.
Niyah walked over and retrieved the glass. She sighed before taking a sip. “Thanks. It’s been a day.”
Xander wiped his hands with a towel and leaned against the counter. “Didn’t look like you were having a hard day.”
On the contrary, his accusatory tone left no questions.
“What does that mean?”
Xander stalked closer. “I mean you appeared to be enjoying dinner with your handsome friend.”
“Um, no,” Niyah scoffed. She waved off the accusation. “That’s exactly what Leo is… afriend.”
Xander narrowed his eyes and moved his face close to hers. “Judging by the looks he was getting, a very handsome friend,” he noted. “And I’ve been told that you prefer black men.”
Niyah couldn’t stop the smirk that grew. “Who would tell you that?”
Xander shook his head and slid his fingers around her throat. “Now, does that really matter?”
“No, but--”
