The woman pointed toward another hall. “He’s in bedroom.”
Taylor waved her pistol toward the piano. “Sit down! Play!”
As instructed, she sat at the piano and began to play. Eyes that were once cold and dark filled with tears. She was crying for her man. Taylor narrowed her eyes and moved closer to the killer. “I’m gonna go give you something to cry about,” she whispered before turning on her heels and stalking toward the room.
Bella and Donna moved closer with guns trained on the assassin while Lincoln and Lucas accompanied Taylor down the hall. The song played by the hit woman could’ve been any song at the ending of a sad movie.
They crept down the hall until they came to a door. The door was open, and Taylor could hear running water. Either her target was in the shower or he wanted her to think he was in the shower. Either way, she entered the room. It was a bedroom, a large white bedroom that looked to have never been occupied by a speck of dust. Taylor, with Lincoln and Lucas nearby, walked along the wall. She peeked into the walk-in closet. It was clear, so she continued to a door that was surely the bathroom. She reached for the knob, but the door opened before she could grab it.
Taylor’s eyes widened at the sight of the Yakuza boss still wet with a towel wrapped around his waist. She didn't know what trouble killing someone so connected would bring them, but she didn’t care. He had murdered her daddy without a fear in the world that she would come looking for his ass.
POP! POP!
Taylor put two in his stomach. Not his head. Not his heart. A quick death would be too good for him. Her daddy hadn’t died fast or without suffering. Nothing about chest compressions was quick and painless. Tears fell from her eyes.
His eyes grew wide with disbelief as he fell to the floor. He looked around as if he didn’t know if they were real or some horrible nightmare. To clear it up for him, Taylor shot him in the knee. The man howled out in pain but quickly corrected himself.
“You motherfuckah!!” Taylor screamed. “You must have thought you were untouchable.” She moved closer to him. “Didn't you know I would come for you?”
The Yakuza boss chucked his chin in the air. “Y-you came all this way. Do what you came to do.”
Taylor wiped the moisture from her eyes and nodded. He was right. There was nothing else to say. So, she filled his tattooed chest full of bullets until her pistol went into slide lock. The sight of his lifeless body bleeding on that bitch’s clean white floor gave her a feeling of satisfaction she hadn’t expected.
Taylor stood over the body of Youko Kon. If she had more bullets, she would shoot him again. But there was no need. He was dead… confirmed.
Taylor felt a hand on her back. It was Lucas. “Let’s go.”
She followed them back to Bella and Donna. Even though the woman was sobbing with her head against the piano, they were still aiming their weapons her way. After all, she was a trained assassin.
Taylor walked over to Sloane Vidal. “Am I gonna have to come back for you?”
The woman looked up with swollen red eyes. “No, Madam First Lady. You will never see or hear from me again.”
Taylor turned and walked toward the hall. With her target eliminated, she and her family left exactly the way they had come in.
CHAPTER 43
TAYLOR
“I, Victor Creed the second, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States. And will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
“So, help you God?” asked the Chief Justice of United States.
“So, help me God,” Victor vowed with his hand on the Bible.
“Congratulations, Mr. President.”
Taylor's applause was drowned out by the clapping of a jovial, enthusiastic crowd. For the first time since her father had died, her smile was genuine. She was extremely proud. Victor had worked so hard just to put himself in a position where he could help others. With a pure heart and good intentions, surely, he was going to leave the United States in a better place from whence he’d started.
Victor shook the hand of the chief justice then turned to Taylor with a smile that warmed her heart.
“Congratulations, my love,” she told him.
Victor cupped her jaw and kissed her lips and then the top of Vicky’s covered head. “Thank you, sweetheart. Thank you for everything.”
“I love you,” Taylor mouthed.
“I love you.”
