“Let’s go for a swim.”
Katherine groaned. “Nah, I’m good. You go.”
Joseph had a picture of them in the ocean and her wet, slippery body sliding up and down his, and he was about to make it happen. He grabbed his beer and stood over her sun-kissed body. Before he could talk himself out of it, he tilted the bottle and poured beer all over her.
Katherine screamed and jumped to her feet.“Joseph!”
Joseph laughed and jumped back when she took a swing at him. “I guess you gotta go rinse off!”
When he took off toward the water, Katherine took off after him. She chased him into the water and jumped on his back. She tried to put him in a headlock, but he was too slippery, so she couldn’t get a grip and fell in the water.
Joseph scooped her out of the water. “Are you okay?” he asked through hysterical laughter.
Katherine wiped her face. She shook the water off like a puppy and bared her fangs. “I’m gonna kill you, Joseph!”
“No, sweetheart. You're gonna give me some luv'n.”
Joseph grabbed her leg and wrapped it around his waist. He gripped the back of her head and pulled her face to his until their lips touched. They kissed with intent. Joseph slid his hand down her back until he reached the string of her bikini. He reached one goal by freeing her tits from the tiny triangle bikini top. Then, he set out to reach another and untied one side of the bottom.
Without breaking the kiss, Katherine reached down and worked his cock out of his swim trunks. She climbed his body and positioned herself for his entry. Joseph gripped her ass and held her with one hand while using the other to guide his cock into her warm pussy.
Katherine exhaled a sharp breath and grabbed his back, pressing her fingers into his flesh. Joseph held her ass and allowed the waves to guide his every stroke. Inside her, he found salvation. With each thrust, her tight canal stripped away at a lifetime of remorse. He needed her. And when they came to an explosive ending together, Joseph realized that he wouldn’t make it without her.
Chapter Twenty-One
KATHERINE
Katherine leaned against the rail and stared out into the sunset. Rays of orange and yellow bounced off the blue water of the sea, creating a vibrant shade of purple. If she’d ever seen anything so beautiful, she didn’t remember it.
She had dinner prepared on her father’s yacht. It had been the most romantic evening of her life. In fact, the entire weekend felt like a dream. She and Joseph ate, slept, and breathed each other under the warmth of the Caribbean sun. But it would all be over soon. It was their last night in the Bahamas. The next day, a luxurious aircraft would be returning them to the hell they’d fled.
Joseph moved behind her and wrapped an arm around her waist. “What’s on your mind, sweetheart?”
Katherine didn’t want to spoil their evening with real world problems. “I was thinking we should take the tender over to the resort. Fiona says they’re having a beach party tonight.”
Joseph pulled her hair out of the way and kissed her neck. “Sounds like fun. But what were you really thinking about?”
“Home.” Katherine sighed. “I was thinking about what’s waiting for me back home.”
Joseph turned her around to face him and caressed her cheek. “I know you’re worried, sweetheart, but you don’t have to be. You survived a nightmare, and it didn’t break you. Katherine, you’re the strongest person I know.”
The love in his eyes made her believe his words.
“Yeah?” she asked.
“Yes, love, and we’re gonna get through this together. I’m with you all the way.”
Katherine smiled and caressed his jaw. “We’re in this together, huh?”
“Yes,” Joseph implored.
Katherine took a sidestep out of his grasp. If he wanted them to be one, it couldn’t be one-sided. “Why do you shut me down every time I mention your dad?”
Joseph knew about her tragic life. He knew what she’d endured as a child growing up in her father’s house. He was privy to the good, the bad, and the ugly. But he’d yet to be forthcoming with the intimacies of his life.
“Whenever I mention your dad, you shut me down, and it’s not just you. Your mom and your brother are just as dismissive. Tell me why?”
Joseph dropped his head and gripped the rails until his knuckles turned white. Katherine reached up and placed her hand on his back and kneaded his tense muscles in hopes of bringing him comfort. She didn’t know anything about his father, mainly because he refused to share his feelings.
