Their mother, Emily, taught history at an elementary school and having an educator as a mom left no room for shenanigans. Education was no joke in their house, and furthering their education wasnot an optionin Emily’s eyes.
“You will get that piece of paper,” she would often say.
So, Joseph and Jonathan had no choice but to take their studies seriously. And since Jonathan had opted to go to school in Massachusetts, Joseph felt he needed to stay close to home. Someone needed to stay with their mom. Besides, as far as law schools went, the University of Chicago ranked in the top ten. Studying there was not only convenient but advantageous.
“Hey, Joe,” Cynthia purred as he passed her.
“Hi,” Joseph responded dryly. Not many people called him Joe.
He wasn’t trying to be rude, and it wasn’t that he was altogether uninterested. Cynthia was a pretty blonde with big tits who the guys at school highly coveted, but he didn’t have time for highly coveted, big titty blondes. He needed to finish school and pay off his mom’s loans for his and his brother’s education.
Cynthia turned and caught his arm. “Are you going to Nate’s party tonight?” she asked.
“Maybe. If I get my homework done, I might.”
She smiled and pushed her breasts against his arm. “You’re always so serious, Joe. Live a little.”
Joseph smiled, pulled his arm from her grasp, and continued down the hall. “I’ll try,” he said over his shoulder.
Because of his schedule, he didn’t have many friends. Nate was one of very few, and he’d promised to show up to Nate’s birthday party. He considered himself a man of his word, so he intended to make an appearance.
“Shit!”
Joseph attempted to ignore the dark-haired woman banging on the vending machine, but her beauty wouldn’t allow him to move on. The debutante, Katherine Chase, was nothing short of breathtaking. Still, he would never approach her. She was a legacy and, in his mind, a spoiled trust fund baby. Katherine was brilliant, but she didn’t really have to be. No matter how good or bad she did in school, she would be fine. She was a Chase. Surely, there was no hustle, no struggle inside her. But hustle or not, Katherine was exquisite with her beautiful blue eyes and a body ripe for sin.
Joseph grabbed the vending machine and shook it until her candy bar fell to the bottom. Katherine looked up at him with a wide-eyed, hypnotizing gaze.
“Thanks,” she said, batting long, dark lashes at him.
He pulled the candy bar from the bottom of the machine and frowned. “You shouldn’t be eating this shit.”
Katherine sighed. “I missed breakfast.”
Joseph moved closer. She wasbeautiful. He wanted to cup her face in his hands and press his lips to hers. Unfortunately, those actions could get him kicked out of school.
Instead, he handed her the candy and continued down the hall.
“Thanks again,” she said at his back.
“You’re welcome,” he told her without turning around.
Katherine had the face of an angel with the most beautiful blue eyes and plump, kissable lips. On more than one occasion, he’d found himself visualizing her full lips wrapped around his cock. Yet, no matter how smart and beautiful she was, he couldn’t get distracted by the spoiled rich girls at his school.
As far as riches went, Katherine’s family had an abundance of wealth. Her dad, Robert Chase, was a descendant of the super-wealthy Durst family, and his wife’s family made millions in media. According to Forbes Magazine, the Chases were worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and if Joseph wanted to make even a fraction of that, he needed to stay focused.
Chapter Two
KATHERINE
Katherine entered the parlor and frowned at the lot of folks she didn’t want to be spending her Friday night with.
“You look beautiful, Pumpkin.”
She cringed at the sound of her dad’s voice.
As her parents approached, her mother narrowed her eyes and handed her a glass of champagne. “It wouldn’t hurt you to smile,” she commented.
Katherine graced her mother with the fakest sugary smile. “There, you happy?”
