Lincoln frowned. “Fuck no! Ipledgedone hundred thousand. But, I would…for you.”

Donna could not believe what she was hearing. She couldn’t believe that Bobby Lee would trust a pledge. Then, she understood.

“The video,” she realized aloud.

Lincoln nodded. “Yep. Every man invited has something to lose if they’re discovered paying for church pussy.”

Donna laughed. Lincoln had the greatest sense of humor. Even though they hadn’t spent a whole lot of time together, the little time they had was spent laughing.

“I’m gonna kill your brother,” she teased.

He turned to her with a raised brow. “Why? If it wasn’t for me, you’d be the first lady by now, Kateri Khal,” he joked.

“Shee-iid! The lies you tell!” She pulled the corded tassel from her bra and tossed it on the floor. “I was gonna choke his ass out, send him to meet the real Messiah.”

Donna watched Lincoln while he laughed quietly. He had perfect, white teeth and a beautiful smile. She’d never been a big fan of men with beards, but Lincoln’s made him the picture of masculinity. It was perfectly trimmed and accentuated his rugged good looks. She narrowed her eyes, remembered that there was something she wanted to ask him. He was truly a distraction. She couldn’t think straight when Lincoln was around.

“How did you know about the wedding? I found out minutes before you mentioned it.”

“Some guy named Harry. He talks a lot. Apparently, Khal has Indian girl fetish and he’s gets turned on by your tattoos.”

“How did you know about the girls?”

“Sweetheart, I’m exactly what they’re looking for—a rich, white man. I’ve been invited before.”

Donna narrowed her eyes at him. “You’ve been here before?”

“No. But, I know men who have. They talk.”

“Wow.”

Lincoln reached over and grabbed her hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed her sweetly. “Why do you disappear every time we sleep together. Is the sex that bad?”

He donned a smirk that said he knew better. He knew exactly what he did to her by her body’s reaction.

“As far as me disappearing, this job keeps me in the wind. And, as far as the sex being bad, I don’t remember. It’s been a while,” she joked with a cheeky grin.

“I see.”

He stood, pulling her up with him. He gripped her waist and turned her around. When he pressed his palm to her belly and pulled her close, she could feel his hard body against her back.

He lowered himself enough to whisper into her ear. “I’m going try to remind you how good we are together.”

When his tongue grazed her ear, her belly fluttered. With his other hand, he reached up and caressed her throat. He placed sensual kisses along her neck. Donna’s breathing became intense. Her head fell weakly against him. She’d been in relationships with both men and women, but his lips on her skin and his hands on her body were like no other. She melted under his touch.

Donna felt instantly cold when Lincoln took a step back. He clasped her zipper and slowly eased it down. He peeled the dress from her body and allowed it to fall to the floor. Without moving, she stood there in a black, lace strapless bra and a tiny lace thong. Even the undergarments Clara had picked out said she was for sale. Or, at least, for rent.

She could feel Lincoln fumbling with the clasp of the necklace Bobby Lee gave her. When he got it off, he walked around until he was in front of her and held the necklace up.

“Khal?” he asked.

She nodded. “It’s a loaner.”

He inspected the glittery piece of jewelry for a few seconds. “Gawdy,” he muttered under his breath before tossing it on the settee.

Donna chuckled and stepped out of her dress that had pooled on the floor. She walked across the room and stood at the foot of the bed. Lincoln moved to stand in front of her. His eyes roamed her semi-nakedness with appreciation.

“My, God, you are stunning,” he praised in a deep, breathy voice. “Absolutely beautiful.”
