LINCOLN

Lincoln laughed quietly and shoved her to walk ahead. Since he didn’t know where exactly to go, he needed her to lead the way.

He followed her to her old dormitory. She said Vera would be the easiest target. Well, she would’ve been had she been there. When they arrived, they discovered she wasn’t in their old room, but Donna said she had an idea where to find her.

They crept quietly through a field of grass until they reached a house made of brick. Since her enemies lived on a compound secured by a tall gate with armed guards, Donna must’ve assumed that they felt secure enough to leave their doors unlocked. She was wrong. Lincoln nudged her aside and pulled a knife from the sheath attached to his belt.

“I got it,” he whispered.

He slid the knife in the lock set, jimmied it open, then slowly turned the knob until he heard the click. He gradually eased the door open until it was wide enough for them to step inside. Donna stepped inside and waved him in. As quietly as possible, they tip-toed across the hardwood floor until they reached a hallway with wood paneling. Before they made it to the end of the hall, they could hear raised voices.

Lincoln couldn’t quite make out what they were saying, but the conversation sounded heated. When they reached the door at the end of the hall, they were better able to make out what the voices were saying.

“I tried! He jumped in front of her!” came from a female voice behind the door.

“Then, he clearly loves her more than you love me,” came from a male voice.

Donna readied her weapon and nodded for him to open the door. Lincoln twisted the knob and gently pushed the door. Once he realized nothing was barricading the door, he flung it open and rushed inside, weapon ready, with his angry woman by his side.

To Lincoln’s surprise, he’d just walked into a room with a swimming pool. Khal was lounging naked in the pool. He was leaning back with his elbows resting on the edge. Clara and the other woman were fully clothed standing near the edge.

Khal was the first to notice their presence. When he looked up, there was a smile on his face, but hatred in his eyes.

“Welcome, Judas!” he shouted.

His greeting prompted the women to turn in their direction. Donna moved forward with her gun aimed at him. Lincoln moved to the other side of the pool. In case she was unable to carry out her revenge, he was ready to do it for her. And he had a feeling that he might have to. Donna was tough, but she was no killer. After all, she couldn’t even shoot a deer.

“You here to arrest me, Kateri? Or, should I say…Donatella?” Khal challenged.

For some reason, he was arrogant enough to think that Donatella was there in a police capacity.

“You should say whatever you want because it’ll be the last thing you say,” Donatella seethed.

The hatred in her eyes out measured the hatred in his by light years. The young blonde raised her hands and moved closer to Donatella.

“Please, Kateri, I—”

Donatella put a bullet in her chest before she could finish her plea. Then, she fired another, hitting her before she hit the ground. She quickly turned her rage to the “Messiah’s” righthand woman. Clara looked down at Khal through narrowed eyes. “You and yourfuckingPocahontas fetish! You’re a goddamned idiot!”

She turned to Donatella and raised her arms in defiance. “Fuck you!” she spat, before a 50 caliber round met her head, causing it to explode like a melon. Donatella kept firing as if the woman with no head was still alive. Banking on her being occupied, Khal scrambled out of the pool and made a run toward a door opposite the pool. Lincoln lowered his sights and fired, shooting him in the leg. He hit the floor with a thud and continued to inch toward the door. Since he promised not to kill anyone, he shot him in the other leg.

Khal was on his belly, wailing in agony when Donatella stalked over to him.

“Roll over!” she shouted.

Khal didn’t comply right away, so she kicked his wound until he did. There he lay, wet, naked, and afraid. He was trembling like an abused puppy while pleading for his life. Unfortunately for him, Donatella was not feeling very merciful.

“When you get to Hell, dear Messiah, say hello to yourrealfather.”

“Wait!” he squealed in a high-pitched, almost feminine manner.

Without the slightest hesitation, she opened fire, and she didn’t stop until the slide of her weapon locked to the rear. Her weapon was empty and the Messiah was dead. The woman couldn’t shoot a deer, but she hadn’t hesitated to put very large holes in three human beings.
