CHAPTER 19
VICTORIA
Victoria entered the house, leaving Luca out front to sort things out with his men. She tossed her purse on a table in the foyer and followed the voices to the family room. Tammy was pacing back and forth in the middle of the room, Beverly was frowning on the sofa, and Tracy was on the floor playing with Jack Jr.
“Where’s Jack?” Victoria asked no one in particular.
“He’s upstairs putting Jasmine to bed,” Tracy offered. “He said to tell you to come up when you got here.”
“Shi-id, I ain't going up there. Jack must think I’m crazy,” Victoria grumbled as she walked over to her son.
“I see my little man ain't thinking about sleeping any time soon.”
“Naw, he is wide awake.”
Victoria looked over at Tammy and saw that she seemed thoroughly irritated.
“You good, Tammy?”
“Good? No. But I’m alive,” Tammy said as she flopped down on the sofa.
Before Victoria could comment, Luca stormed into the room. He was wearing a scowl that intimidated even her, and that was no easy feat.
“Thank God you're okay,” Beverly sighed, jumping to her feet.
Tammy looked at Victoria, giving her the, ‘Is this bitch serious?’ look. A couple of hours ago, Luca was nothing more than a thug. Her entire demeanor had changed in his presence.
Victoria only shrugged. She had no intentions on saying anything else to Tammy’s mother because she wouldn't tolerate someone speaking less than respectful to her own mother. And even though Beverly had run out on Tammy and her dad, the woman was still her mother.
Victoria laughed inwardly as Luca glared at Beverly like she’d lost her mind. He rushed past her and walked over to where Tammy was sitting. He lowered to his knees and placed his hands on her thighs.
“How are you?”
“How am I?” Tammy questioned, placing her hand on his cheek. “Luca, you were shot.”
“It’s a scratch,” he dismissed with the shake of his head.
Victoria turned to Tracy and asked, “When did you get here?”
“About forty-five minutes ago. Lorenzo hustled me out of the house just as I was about to take a bath. Ugh! The Russians again? Why don't they just die?”
“I know, right?” Victoria agreed. “It’s like we just can't shake their ass. Luca, how is Francis?”
“Indestructible.”
He muttered his response, but Victoria could hear the pride in his voice.
The Savellis were a close knit family. They possessed a unique Sicilian pride and a deadly loyalty to each other.
“Victoria!” she heard coming from the doorway of the family room.
Fuck!
