There was a hen party there who were too wrapped up in themselves to realise the people they were with were me and Luc, until one of them vomited and it made Luc jump. Theknife slipped and he cut his finger. The sight of the blood and the smell of the sick made him pass out. Mimi had the hen party sign an NDA afterwards so that wouldn’t be the way my relationship came to be public knowledge.

‘Me too,’ I admit quietly.
‘I really thought you were it for me, Sienna,’ he smiles. ‘That was the happiest I’d ever been.’
After our time is up, Luc and I both go to the sink to wash our hands. In the silence, Luc’s breath brushes over my ear. I breathe heavily, the thought of pressing my lips against Luc’s. The feeling of his lips caressing mine lingered like a bruise after the movie premiere. Shivers. I shake the inappropriate feeling away. It’s only natural for it to be there when our friendship started as a relationship.
‘Was Mimi not worried this isn’t public enough?’ I whisper, the running tap drowning out my voice from eavesdropping ears. His fingers brush against mine under the warm water and I fight an overwhelming urge to grab onto them.
‘Yeah, these people will all run to the papers no doubt.’
Everyone at the tables is pretending we aren’t there a little too hard.
‘And we’re going to post on Instagram,’ Luc says.
‘Oh,’ I grin. ‘The hard launch.’
Luc lowers his voice even further, both in base and volume. ‘I think it will seem more sincere coming from us.’
My phone vibrates a few times in my pocket, and I dry my hands before pulling it out and seeing a couple of messages from Mimi.

I turn my phone around, angling it for Luc’s eyes. ‘We’ll discuss it when we’re back,’ he whispers, drying his hands on a piece of kitchen roll next to the sink.
