“I’m sorry I don’t remember his name,” I replied, leaning against Odem’s chest as my dragon prodded at our link again, this time sending just a single word.

“Daigle,” I whispered, making Odem tense.

“What did you say!” Ionus barked, startling me into burrowing against Odem.

“Daigle,” I repeated. “I didn’t remember, but my dragon reminded me.”

“That is a name I have not heard in centuries,” Ionus growled. “And none of it was good, even then. Now I must speak to Emerson!”

I heard his footsteps echoing through the garage as he stalked away and hoped Emerson wasn’t in the middle of something, because a giant interruption was on its way.

“Think that will keep him busy long enough for you to feed me?” I asked, stomach growling as the need to pee hit again.

Slushy cup was empty, so the bladder was full.

“Let’s hope so,” Odem said, opening the door so I could scurry to the bathroom.

Something told me I was going to be spending a great deal of time in there in the upcoming weeks.

Chapter Fifteen

Odem

Ronan’s memories, courtesy of his dragon, were increasing in frequency and I hoped like hell they weren’t upsetting the girls. He’d done pretty well at masking his fear when sharing, but I felt it through our connection, and my fear was the girls did too. We’d feel it too though, right? If the girls were bothered? I added it to the list to speak to Emerson about and answered an incoming text.

Donovan: The dressing room is done and ready for the big reveal.

Odem: Awesome, my mate could use some good news. Thanks, man. Send me the bill and I’ll get ya paid.

Donovan: Will do.

“Hey babe, come with me.” He’d just finished the massive seafood platter I’d put together for him. Man did he ever love seafood. “I’ve got a surprise for you.”

Ronan burped. “Shoot, sorry. Definitely better going down the first time.” He struggled to stand, these last couple of weeks the eggs were growing at an alarming rate. “I love surprises.”

He eyed the top of the stairs as we approached them like they’d personally offended him. “I’ll carry you, my queen.”

“Smart ass, but I will take that free lift, dear dragon.”

I scooped him up and headed toward the main bedroom, which he’d slept in every night since my first patrol. Now he’d get to officially move in. He wobbled a bit as I stood him up, bracing him from behind. My poor mate looked like he’d swallowed the biggest beachball in history.

“Open the door.” He turned the handle and the occupancy sensor kicked in. The gorgeous chandelier illuminated, raining prisms across the massive marble top dresser island in the center. Each section of the shelves that lined the walls lit up too.

“Oh. My. God. Odem!”

“Yeah, you’ve screamed that a time or two,” I teased. “Do you like it?” Fucking hell, I hoped I didn’t get this wrong.

“Like it?” He squeaked. “It’s fucking amazing. When can we move my clothes in?”

“I’ll do that now. Grab that remote,” I pointed to the countertop. “Go ahead, push the buttons.” The shoe racks moved forward and rotated, Ronan’s eyes widened comically. “It’ll hold three hundred and fifty pairs of shoes in total.”

“Holy shit!”

“Yes, you now have a special place for your horde, though if you’d prefer, I could have Donovan install the same racks in the main horde room.”

“N-no, this is. Oh, Odem,” tears welled in his eyes. “I don’t deserve this. I’ve been so mean to you.”

“Sweetheart, I get it, I really do. You’ve been to hell and back, then I come along, knock you up, and turn the life you were building for yourself upside down. I’m sorry it went down that way but I’m not sorry that you’re my mate or that you’re having our babies. I love you, Ronan and all I want if for you and the girls to be safe and happy. Are you happy?” Please say yes.
