With Rebel at my side, I stormed back toward the house. Even though I knew he was thinking something that would piss me off, he knew better than to say it right then.

We found Ripley and the other girls right where we’d left them. Luna was doing her best to get Ripley to drink some water. She was conscious, breathing, and talking. That reassured me, although I knew she was not doing well. She seemed unfocused, on the verge of puking or passing out. Maybe both.

After quickly ordering an Uber on my phone, I scooped Ripley off the couch. She flung her arms around my neck, mumbling something nonsensical.

“I’m taking her home. I’ll catch up with you guys later.”

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

AURYN

Getting Ripley into the Uber was a challenge. Her limbs were limp and rubbery. The driver looked at me like I was doing something wrong.

“She partied too hard,” I explained. “I’m taking her home to sleep it off.” When he continued to stare at me in the rearview mirror, I added, “She’s my girlfriend. I’m not abducting her or something. Chill out.”

I didn’t blame him for thinking this was a shady situation. I’m sure it looked that way to an outsider. It probably didn’t help that I had blood drying on my knuckles.

I had him take us back to my house. I would be able to take care of her there. I knew what an overdose looked like. She didn’t seem to be that far gone, thank God. Yet she wasn’t in good shape either.

Falling against me in the back seat of the car, Ripley mumbled, “You smell so fucking good, Auryn. I could just eat you up.”

She began to mindlessly grope me, running her hands over my body while I did my best to secure them both in one of mine. “That’s nice, baby girl. Let’s wait until we get home, hmm?”

Ripley didn’t seem to be aware of the man in the front seat listening to everything. That was made abundantly clear when she loudly said, “Take out that huge cock of yours. I want you to choke me with it until I pass out.”

Being drunk and high made her stronger than I’d expected. She almost pulled free of my grasp. I couldn’t very well let her take my cock out in the back of the Uber.

“I don’t think our driver would appreciate that. We’ll be home soon. Then we can do whatever you want.” I was willing to promise her anything if she would stop making a scene. Not that I really cared what this guy thought. I simply didn’t want him to think I was taking advantage of her in this state.

We pulled up to the house, and I hurriedly pulled her out of the car with me. Needing to get her inside before this guy called the cops or something, I told him to have a good night before turning my attention to Ripley who was now crawling on her hands and knees toward the front door.

I did my best to block her from his view as he pulled away. Drugs are bad, kids. They make you do shit you would never do otherwise. I’d done my own share of embarrassing shit, so I didn’t judge. I simply scooped her off the ground and into my arms.

“Why does walking feel so hard?” she whined, wrapping her legs around my waist. “All I want to do is lie down.”

Trying to support her weight with one hand, I used the other to awkwardly pull my keys from my pocket. I shoved open the front door, carrying her inside. After closing the door behind me, I put her down on the living room couch.

Ripley flopped over onto her back, slinging one leg up onto the back of the couch. Her eyes fluttered as she tried to make sense of where she was.

“I’m going to get you some water and start some coffee. Don’t move.” I hurried into the kitchen to pour her a glass offiltered water from the jug in the corner before brewing a mug of coffee.

I didn’t think anything was going to bring her down from this other than time and sleep. There was only so much I could do. Thankfully, she didn’t seem to need medical attention. Simply someone to make sure she was safe while she came down.

When I returned to the living room, Ripley was sitting awkwardly against the arm of the couch. She pressed buttons on one of the remote controls, frowning at the blank TV screen.

“Why won’t this stupid thing turn on?” she demanded. “I think your TV is broken.”

I had to chuckle. “Because that’s the remote for the sound system. Here.”

Picking up the other remote from the coffee table, I turned on the TV for her. She immediately lost interest, staring around the house with wide, bloodshot eyes.

“So this is where you live.” Ripley nodded as if something had been confirmed for her.

I took a seat next to her on the couch, holding out the glass of water. “You need to drink this. You should stay hydrated. There’s coffee too.”

She accepted the water, chugging back most of it in a few swallows. Her eyes fluttered again, like she was having a hard time staying awake. “Let’s order food. I could really go for some chicken nuggets right now.”

“Maybe in a bit. Let’s focus on fluids for now. Maybe some sleep.” I’d been down this road before. She wanted nuggets now, but they would come right back up. She had passed out of the safe zone a while ago.
