Oh how I had missed her.
Tiago and Bruno started fighting over the last of something, causing Maria to move over to them and smack both of them with her wooden spoon. It looked hard too, which only made Frankie and I laugh. Maria shot Frankie a look, which made her immediately stop. I bit down on my laugh, and pushed some food into my mouth to stifle the sound.
“So, what keeps you away for so long?” Maria asked me, as she took a seat next to me. I didn’t know how to answer that.
“Work, and…boys.”
“Ah, yes,” she said, as if she knew exactly what I was talking about. “You and Frankie always did follow each other, even down the road of being in love.”
I looked over at Frankie, who had lowered her eyes to her plate. Had she spoken about Chaos to Maria already? I really was a bad friend, I hadn’t been here for any of it, too wrapped up in my own shit with Reaper.
“You love hard, and that is nothing to be ashamed of.”
“Only when you’re heartbroken, right?”
“Heartbreak comes and it goes, Rowan. It does not define you. So long as you remain true to your heart, you will always find the one who belongs there.”
“I don’t want anyone else to have a piece of my heart.”
“Maybe not today, but you will. Perhaps he made the decision to hurt you now, so you do not hurt later.”
I nodded. “I think so. He was a little older.”
“Age is nothing but a number and an excuse,” she threw her hands up. “Now, eat, enjoy.”
I did just that, my mind on Reaper and the way he could so easily think he was going to be able to replace me with a club girl.
He has no idea who he’s messing with.
Reaper
Three fucking weeks.
That’s how long I’ve been without Rowan. No texts, no calls, no hearing her cry out my name as I bring her to orgasm. It was a cruel fucking thing to have something and need to let it go.
It was killing me.
Everyone was noticing.
I was barking at every fucker who dared to joke about it, or get on the wrong side of me. Trojan copped it the most when he didn’t have anything new to give me. The Ironborne weren’t making a play for Trey at all. There was nothing to fix for him, and he was growing increasingly angry that he wasn’t allowed to leave The Burrow.
Until today.
With no new information, I had made the decision to let him out, and he’d run straight to a club to party. Fucking idiot.
“Prez,” Maverick said, his tone urgent and a little annoyed. I turned to face him, along with Chaos and Shadow. They all looked inside at the party going on at the bar. My eyes grazedover the occupants, looking for my dickhead son before he got himself into more trouble than before.
But that’s not who I saw.
It’s not who the boys saw either.
There she was.
In all her glorious beauty, and in the tiniest dress I’d ever seen. Lush curves on display, her leg tattoo out for all to see. I loved that she was unashamedly confident in her own body. Even after bitches tried to take that from her.
My cock hardened immediately as I looked at her laughing and joking with her friends. Though, Frankie wasn’t with her. These were friends I didn’t know, and that burned something deep in my chest.
Was she in danger?
