“You’re entirely too young for me, but lucky for both of us, I’m a selfish bastard,” I said, claiming her lips in a crushing kiss. When she moaned into my mouth, I knew there was no way I was letting her go without slamming back into her. Every revelation about her past aligned with my own. We were both broken, both needing love, and control. The only way to protect her, and keep her safe, was to keep her in the know.

I had to trust and tell her everything so she stayed put until I could put her attackers out of commission.

And boy were they going to hate it when I found them. I had a bat just itching to get used on their useless numbskulls.

Rowan

“I want to go see Trey,” I announced to Reaper once his coffee had been set down in front of him by Cherry. She widened her eyes for a moment before she moved away. Reaper turned to me,an expression I couldn’t read in his eye, before he took a long, slow sip of his coffee.

“Why?”

“He’s my friend.”

“He’s in hiding.”

“That doesn’t stop him from being my friend, and plus, I’m fucking his dad. I kind of don’t want him to find out from someone else.”

He groaned, but I already knew I’d won. “I’ll call ahead so they don’t shoot us on sight. You’re not wearing that though.”

I looked down at my outfit, and frowned. “Why not?”

“Change, Rowan.”

“You afraid your son’s gonna steal me away from you?” I teased, but the growl emanating from his chest had me rearing back. Oh shit, was he scared of that? “Okay, okay.”

I pushed off the barstool and headed upstairs just as I saw Chaos move over to Reaper to talk. I wondered what he did with Frankie once Reaper had taken me upstairs last night. I knew she wasn’t on the clubhouse grounds, or I would have heard her, or seen her.

Once I was upstairs, I grabbed my phone and sent her a text while I got changed. Pulling on jeans and an old band tee, I snatched up my phone when I heard the familiar ding.

FRANKIE

Girl, where the fuck have you been? Are you okay? Cruz will literally not tell me anything.

Frowning, I re-read her message three times before responding.

Who the fuck is Cruz?

FRANKIE

Chaos, duh?

He lets you call him Cruz?

FRANKIE

“Lets” is not a term I would use, but that’s on him for telling me what his real name was.

I chuckled at my best friend. She was like a dog with a bone when she had something on someone.

I’m just messaging to see if you were okay.

FRANKIE

Yeah, I’m at a cousin’s birthday party and it’s the one that doesn’t like T, so it’s boring as shit.

Tiago was loved by so many in his family, except for one side of the cousins who all omitted invitations to their parties. I’d always felt bad for him growing up, but he never let it get to him.

I’m going to see Trey today.
