Eric kissed Cassie on the forehead and shook Cayden’s hand. Haley blessed the babies in Fealish along with Lucinda since Aiden already had. I linked Angela, “You might have mentioned your sister was in labor.”
Angela winked before answering, “I could see that it was perfectly fine. You were there and if I’d given you the full picture Cayden would’ve insisted my sister go to the hospital. Cassie was happier on this path.” I smiled and nodded.
Honestly… that was fair enough. It was about Cassie and not me. But the logic of the men wasn’t there really… they could pop or portal if something went wrong. I’d just have to make sure that kits were ready to go. I could equip ILYX with a birthing kit now… since I did not have one in the watches at this moment.
Cassie and Cayden decided to bring the pups back inside the castle to be announced before they portaled to the Hackura realm to announce them there. I was walking away when I heard a pop practically on top of me. Instinct had me putting out my arms.
I snorted, “Well hello, Nicholas. I claim favorite Aunt rights… since… I did catch you. You were the cutest slimy pup ball ever… so you do have that going for you.” My brand new nephew giggled at me and popped back to Cayden. Cayden snorted, “Oh you think you’re funny, little man?” Aiden smiled, “They were born under the Sky and outside in the Earth. That will have their Fairy sides coming forward.”
Freya pushed through, “They also have wolves already too, just like their mom.” I took back over while everyone looked back at the pups. Eric said, “Not that it’s a surprise, but Freya is right.” I snickered because those were mischievous wolf pups. They hadn’t talked to anyone yet.
Freya linked, “No one should doubt me.” I reasoned, “I don’t they did. You’re a goddess. It was already unlikely you were wrong… about well… anything… but especially about a wolf. So,everyone definitely knew you were right.” Freya chuckled in my head.
We went back inside. I’d been walking but Xander grabbed my hand to pop us there. The room went crazy when Aiden announced, “My niece, Duchess Cassie, has two new little ones. My niece gave birth outside our castle in the Queen’s private garden.” The room went absolutely insane.
Cassie and Cayden showed off the pups with Cassie’s Guard on high alert. I caught Ghiza’s eyes and nudged my head to a man… who was just too close to Cassie for my liking. Ghiza knocked him out in a swift move.
Ok… I meant talk to him… but that worked too. Ghiza smirked and nodded his head in my direction. Cayden had easily caught it and tapped his middle finger to his thumb. Aaron Cambridge faded in to take the Fairy through a portal. Ok then… handled.
Everyone hugged Cassie and Cayden before they left. Cayden linked me as he gave me a hug, “Thank you for being there for Cass and getting me there in time for my daughter’s birth.” I replied, “Of course. Again… I’m sorry I didn’t give you details… it got slimy… and I had to catch a pup…. Then Cassie was starting to sneeze again and….”
Cayden laughed and pushed me at Xander who kissed me. Cayden said, “Of course you ramble in link too, Melanie.” Cassie gave me a big hug before whispering, “Thank you.” I smiled, “Anytime… sister in law of mine. I’ll just be…way more prepared next time… should this happen.” Cassie smiled.
Cayden said, “Yeah, no. Next time she’s near her due date I will not assume she’s anywhere.” Ghiza said, “One of us will be in the bathroom with her in case she pops out.” Cassie rolled her eyes at them but they were serious.
Cassie linked me, “Angela told me that if you hadn’t been there, I was rushed to the hospital and didn’t even get to a bedbefore the twins were born. I’d much rather be outside giving birth than have them born on a sterile floor or something.”
I told her, “I’m glad it went how you wanted then… and I will seriously be more prepared next time… I could totally come up with a plan to get you outside… where you want…and so that no one panics about it.” Cassie replied, “Go on with your miracle worker self then, Melanie. Make that plan.” I was going to… even if she had said it wasn’t necessary.
Cassie hugged me tightly again and then walked through the portal Cayden opened. Cayden’s brother faded in to walk through with them. Well… one of them. Aaron had already left. We heard gasps and cheering on their end.
I teased Xander, “I’m sure that will start an orgy.” Xander snorted, “It definitely will if one wasn’t already happening. Their Commander, who is also a Duke, and their Duchess's pups were born.” Xander kissed me hard out of nowhere.
Freya snorted, “You feel his lust.” I replied, “He always feels that way.” Freya boasted, “Because we are hot.” Ok… so that was obviously how our mate felt. Xander pulled back to say, “Thank you for being with Cassie.”
I snorted, “It was just kind of luck. I just wanted to go for a walk and then I heard and scented her... then it got… slimy REAL fast.” Xander laughed, “I’m sure it did. I think you’ve got a serious fan in our nephew. You’ll be his favorite aunt.”
I snorted, “Umm I get favorite aunt status for life. I caught both their slimy cute selves coming out of their mom. I’m cemented as their favorite aunt. It’s only fair and they have Fairy blood… that’s totally working in my favor.”
Xander howled with laughter… but I was dead serious. Why did people think I was joking tonight? I linked Tristan, “Does everyone think I got better at jokes? I don’t think I did… I could ask Si.” Tristan replied, “Happy New Year’s Eve, Ladybug. I gota memo about what you’ve been doing. No, you didn’t get better at joking.”
I hummed, “Right… Happy New Year’s Eve… and ummm, everyone keeps laughing when I say stuff I’m serious about… they clearly think I’m joking… but I’m not. I caught my niece and nephew’s slimy pup selves… I’m the favorite Aunt… forever. I’m so serious.” Tristan replied, “Sounds fair.” I shouted, “SEE?!” Tristan laughed back. Again, with the laughing.
Being those two pup’s favorite aunt was mine. I had a lot of stiff competition, but this had to give me a serious edge. Freya agreed, “The pups agree. We are their favorite Aunt, and they do have Fairy blood. It’s a done deal.” Good.
Xander led me to the dance floor, and he led us in a dance. We captivated the room, but that wasn’t new to me. We danced for a few songs before we went to the edge of the dance floor. Freya began to feel edgy. I asked, “What’s wrong?” Freya told me, “Something isn’t right.”
Xander walked over to EJ, and I looked around the room. When I spotted Angela frowning my senses went into overdrive. Freya was clearly right. I linked Angela, “What’s wrong?” My sister in law answered, “Things just got blurry.” I closed my eyes in frustration.
I asked, “Freya… can we sense when something isn’t right? Is that a power we have?” Haley also looked pretty alert and so did Eric. That meant Haley had a bad feeling. COME ON! I can’t even have fun on New Years Eve?! Christmas was taken from me, now this. Rude!
Freya snickered, “It is rude, but of course we can sense when things aren’t right.” My wolf took over and smelled the air. I walked closer to Aiylee and Exsis. Exsis stared at me as I walked past them and stopped by a statue.
The fact he went on alert didn’t surprise me. Exsis was a very skilled fighter and strategist. I studied the statue in front ofme then looked around. There were five statues like this one. I linked Haley, “Why would Lucinda decorate with goblin statues? I know for a fact… that Fairies don’t like goblins.”
Haley answered, “She wouldn’t.” I asked, “Do my shoes have a knife in them?” Haley replied, “Of fucking course. Why? Do you have a bad feeling too? Because mine are confusing. It was all consuming then you started walking around. Oh my god. You made the bad feeling dwindle because you’re going to handle it like a fucking badass.” For sure… that was exactly it.
I turned around and noticed a statue had gotten closer to Aiylee. I yelled, “AIYLEE, LOOK OUT!” Exsis immediately pulled his wife into him. I pulled the dagger and threw it as the statue came to life and went for Aiylee.
