EJ popped us outside and the most intoxicating smell of strawberries covered in sugar I'd ever smelt reached me in seconds. I tilted my head asking, “Do you smell that?” EJ answered, “I do.” Oden linked, “Alexander, that’s….” I growled finishing, “MATE!”
I heard a whimper of pain, and it gutted my very soul because I knew it was my wife. EJ groaned, “Oh fuck me! Is Melanie inheat?” I popped to my mate. Egres was fighting along with my Guard, Zane, Tank, KJ, Chason, and Fowler.
I roared, “WHO THE FUCK’S PACK IS THIS?! AND WHO THE GODDAMN HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?!” I didn’t recognize them. That probably meant there were more packs out looking for the white wolf. We were in Blue Moon territory, and these were not their people.
I heard someone singing, “I HAVE COME TO SAVE THE DAY!” I growled, “DYLAN!” He shifted into Fang and started fighting. I linked my family, “Get to me NOW!” Angela linked, “It’s fine, we will handle everything and Melanie’s fine. Pop her away. We handle this and we catch you up before the New Year.”
I turned as someone reached Melanie. I was about to stop him when he was thrown back with a great force because my mate had electrocuted him. I grabbed my wife and she clung to me. Melanie whimpered, “It hurts.” I promised her, “I’ll make it stop.” I popped us away, forgetting all about her point and the argument. She was all that mattered to me. Which meant taking care of her was the priority.
One Normal Thing
Melanie felt her body on fire as Xander kissed her. Freya purred, “Oden is coming out. So, can I play with him?” I told her, “Go for it.” Freya purred with happiness, but she didn’t block me out. So, I knew she and Oden were… inventive together.
Honestly, I took notes and learned a few things. It was handy to have someone literally show you how some positions work. I wouldn’t have to figure it out later or read the Karma Sutra book… which I was not opposed to doing.
When Freya pushed me back forward my body was exhausted. I was asleep before I knew it. I woke up outside a castle. I groaned, “Oh come on!” Freya told me, “It’s a vision.” I sighed “I know that… why else would be outside a castle where people are blurry to us?”
I couldn’t see anyone’s faces nor any landmarks. Which told me with them, I’d know exactly where this dang place was. A big group of people surrounded someone tied to a chair. Did one of my people get caught?
There was a massive group around this person, but no one was fighting anyone. Pops filled the room. What? Was this… Did one of my people get taken by the Ring? Fury filled me. I knew there were Fairies in the inner circle. Music started blaring before I was thrown back.
I sighed because I didn’t get to hear the song. I told Freya, “This is ridiculous. I didn’t get enough information.” I did know what the music meant though… even if I didn’t hear the beat. It meant that I was coming, and it likely meant…. the Resistance was going to storm the place. Who got taken? I hadn’t sent anyone anywhere yet, so obviously… I couldn’t answer that question. It annoyed me.
We could’ve set a trap though. Which means the person didn’t actually get caught. They let the Ring think they did... and that would mean…. it was me. Freya snickered, “Which means more claiming sex for sure.” My wolf wasn’t wrong.
The fact came down it to being me there… because the only person I would send into a trap was myself. So, it was very likely the person sitting in that chair was yours truly. Which would definitely upset my mate if he knew about the plan.
I sighed and was about to get up and go dance. Xander pinned me to the bed though. Freya snickered, “I might have nudged Oden awake who made Xander aware. We took your guys’ time last night. You two should have some fun too.” I replied, “You’re the best wolf ever.” Freya laughed, “Well, we are a good match.”
My wolf we right, we were. Xander wore me out more than dancing and running ever had. More than he did in my head when I’d imagined us together. That articles and the studies I’d read had not fully prepared me for my mate’s sexual charisma.
I guess it’s one thing to read it and another to experience it. I did actually know that… but I thought I was more prepared given… I’d read all about it. Freya snickered, “Don’t worry, we will get used to it.” I faded back to sleep.
When I woke up, Xander was gone. I walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower. I walked downstairs and cooked myself breakfast. When I finished, I turned to see a group of determined looking women and my friends who looked amused.
I greeted, “Hi, guys.” Elise, Buttercup, Valentina, Olivia, Jane, Abigail and Sierra exchanged looks. I asked, “What’s up?” Elise said, “We need to talk.” I furrowed my eyebrows, “Isn’t that what we are doing now? Talking.”
Elise laughed, “Yes, we are. God, I love that you never changed. That etiquette coach stuff was bullshit. Anyway, let’sgo outside where we can talk Ladybug.” I shrugged, “Ok… but again… we were just talking.” We walked outside together.
I was about to sit in the grass when I caught a flash of someone. I smiled, turned and scanned the tree line. I called, “Was that Ray I just saw?” Ray stepped out from behind a tree. I laughed, walked over, and gave him a hug.
I whispered, “It’s been a while, Ray.” He smiled at me agreeing, “It has been and I’m very sorry about that. I’ve always thought it was weird you didn't come home but…” I held my hands up stopping his apology, “You were Elise’s guard, Ray. I was never your responsibility.” Ray sighed, “Still I….”
I cut him off, “Still nothing. I’d like to meet your Nora.” Ray laughed, “Of course you know about that.” I did know all about her and him. Nora had been targeted once by the Ring. Other than Ray meaning a lot to Elise I couldn’t see why that had happened.
Ray’s eyes narrowed, “How do you know about her?” I smiled answering, “I know a lot of things, Ray. It’s kind of my thing… and it always was… when you think about it.” Ray chuckled, “I missed you, Ladybug.” I admitted, “I missed you too. I’m glad you were here to watch out for Elise though.” Ray tussled my hair like he did when I was little. I ducked my head.
Tank called, “Hey, Ladybug!” He jogged over to us with Zane. Zane laughed, “Oh this reunion spells trouble.” He turned and caught Elise’s eye and groaned, “I thought this was going to fun, but clearly I was wrong.” Tank said, “Nope, we gotta go Zane. We will be late, and I want nothing to do with this.” Huh?
Elise cleared her throat after they left. Ray rubbed his face. Elise told me, “We need to talk about Charles.” Ray asked, “Who is Charles? You leave to do Christmas early with your mate’s side of the family, and you miss things. What happened?”
I answered, “Charles is a mentor of mine.” Elise added, “He’s a Vampire.” Ray’s lip twitched. I frowned, “It’s not reallyrelevant that he’s a Vampire… when you think about it.” Elise sighed, “Yes, it is actually. Werewolves and Vampires don’t typically get along.”
I pointed out, “That’s a ridiculous prejudice that exists in the first place… and mostly revolves around some people either being catty or… around someone who smelled like Trevor. Vampires claimed the scent hurt their nose… I used to think they were being petty.”
“Then I met Trevor… and if those early wolves smelled like that… you can hardly blame them for saying we smelled bad. Trevor still smells like a dirty wet dog. Anyway, the knowledge older Vampires could bring to packs to help us not repeat mistakes would be invaluable.”
“Just because we aren’t supposed to get along with someone doesn’t mean we shouldn’t. Besides, this pack likes Vampires just fine. Princess Breanna is a half Vampire, and they adore her… plus everyone likes Arthur’s line… all of them… and I’ll try to get over the fact Robert the Vampire shares a name with Robert the betraying Werewolf.”
