Oden was howling with pain. I gritted my teeth, “EJ, get to her!” I heard a pop before I watched as my brother was violently thrown back to us. EJ wasn’t hurt though. Hastein was pissed and it flooded the bond.

My cousin stood up shouting, “WHERE ARE THEY?” Angelique whispered, “Florida.” Hastein questioned, “Where in Florida?” Angelique admitted, “I don’t know. Kingsley knows all the secret backways down there. She lived there for a while.”

Cassie popped to me and put her hand on my back, pushing comfort at me. I tried to pop to Melanie but was thrown back. My teeth clenched as everything in me hurt. I needed to push down her pain, but I just kept taking it from her. A whimper escaped my throat.

Mom was next to me in a second with dad. TJ knelt beside me, throwing all the calm and peace he possibly could at me. I was vaguely aware I could hear someone crying. Charles spoke, “You tried to get to Melanie knowing you could not, young wolf. That was not wise.”

I gritted my teeth, “I love her.” Charles smiled, “Good. She needs that. It was unwise on your part, but noble and proves your feelings to me.” Sierra said, “Charles, you need to see if you can track their watches. Only you could understand the instructions.”

Micah snorted, “Am I not standing right here? I can understand the instructions. Give them to me.” Charles asked, “Why waste time? Melanie will contact you all shortly.” I snarled, “Get her location!” I heard beeping.

Charles said, “Ahhh, there she is.” I didn’t know how my mate was functioning because her pain level was off the charts. Momlinked me, “Alexander, you can still take her pain and push it down.” I argued, “It’s easier to take her pain this way.” Mom replied, “Your dad and I are helping you and so is your Grandpa Titus. Push Melanie’s pain down so we can go get her with you.”

I closed my eyes and pushed her pain down, only to get another jolt of it as it came back. Oden took over to snarl. The McAlister’s looked panicked. Sierra was talking to Melanie and then her voice came through on my watch.

Gage linked, “She’s ok.” I replied, “I need someone to tell me how this damn thing works so I can talk to her.” Oden growled, “Mate’s voice is shaky.” I knew that just as I could hear her pain, and her anger. Someone hurt her and they were dead.

I linked Phil and Gage, “SHE IS NOT SERIOUSLY SENDING US TO KINGSLEY RIGHT NOW!” Someone had kidnapped my cousin’s mate. Hastein punched a hole in the wall. Oden growled, “Mate wants to meet us there, but she needs to be healed.”

I replied, “I know that but she’s not thinking about herself.” In fact, my mate was refusing to let me go to her and I couldn’t fucking pop there. I linked Phil, “Why would she think I gave A SHIT about anything but her right now?” Phil replied, “Her entire network answers that question. Your mate will save anyone to the detriment of herself every single time. Possibly because she doesn’t like me.” I rolled my eyes at him. We knew that wasn’t true.

Valentina said, “If we are dealing with Demons, then Angelique and I should shimmer our group to K.” Angelique nodded, “She’s right. Although apperating would share the shit out of them.” Valentina snorted, “You can’t apparate with people.”

Angelique sighed, “That’s true. I shouldn’t have left them.” Gabe squeezed her tightly. Valentina argued, “They should’ve been fine. To warn the group that hasn’t seen certain peoplein action after things like this, Melanie is going to be pissed.” Mason said, “We will never hear the end of this. They had to have been in a car accident.”

I growled, “They definitely got hit.” Sierra announced, “K’s tracker stopped. Which means the vehicle they were in is stationary.” Angelique laughed, “I bet K got free is wreaking havoc.” Valentina huffed, “She had to have hit her head, or they couldn’t have taken her.”

Hastein ordered, “Someone shimmer me to where my mate is NOW!” Angelique grabbed his hand instantly. I grabbed Julian who was holding onto Valentina. The rest of the family followed. Annoyingly enough, so did Charles.

I surveyed the area and roared. The Demons eyes widened when they saw us. Kingsley was giving them hell. Hastein let loose a battle cry. I announced, “These are the assholes from Spain.” Valentina shimmered out with Julian. Probably to get the partial Demon I’d met in Spain per Melanie’s instructions.

I pushed at the Demons nearest to me and saw the scene of the car crash. These fuckers poured gasoline on it and left my mate to die and burn to death?! I crushed the brain of the one who’d been there, encouraging the other to light the match, to smithereens.

Then, I conjured a broadsword and began to cut my way through the crowd. My mate would go to Kingsley so that’s where I was headed. A car engine roared before the car came flying over the hill. I watched as my mate mowed through a few Demons with the car.

Oden growled, “MATE IS BLEEDING!” I could see that. Melanie got out of the MOVING car, shooting. The scent of my wife’s blood hit me, and I couldn’t stand it. She wanted to kill people, but I needed to snap her clean of blood. I couldn’t see her like this.

My mate didn’t even seem to realize she had multiple broken bones. I linked Phil and Gage, “Is this fucking normal to my mate?! She’s acting like this is nothing!” Gage said, “I want to say no, I really do.” Phil replied, “Sierra actually said the words, it’s not too bad.” What the actual FUCK?!

I saw Rolfin and snarled because he’d thrown the match. I yelled over to Hastein who was in complete agreement. No more words needed to be exchanged. Rolfin would suffer greatly. Melanie finally agreed to let me heal her. I didn’t even care who probably linked her about it. I needed to do this.

When I stepped back my wife’s eyes were still closed. I snapped her clean of blood. Kingsley knelt down and kissed Melanie’s forehead whispering, “I’m sorry. I didn’t see them coming.” I told her, “Melanie won’t see it as your fault, and neither do the rest of us. I’m glad you’re ok. Let me heal your hands.” Kingsley nodded.

I snapped the cuffs off her as Hastein reached us. My cousin touched her shoulder, and I healed Kingsley’s wrists. Oddly, her injuries were very slight compared to Melanie’s. Her head was the only issue other than her wrists being irritated.

What the heck was she that she could withstand the wreckage I saw? The brunt of the damage was on Kingsley’s side of the car. She’d taken the impact, and just barely hurt her head. I stepped back and sat beside Melanie taking her into my arms.

Hastein said, “Thank you, cousin.” I snorted, “You never need to thank me, H.” Hastein disagreed, “When it comes to K, I do.” He kissed Kingsley hard as Melanie’s eyes snapped open. She actually thanked me for healing her.

This woman was so beyond mine. Gage shouted down the link, “PHIL, SHE SAID THANK YOU!” Phil reasoned, “That was very polite.” Gage scoffed, “I know that you know that was literally insane.” I agreed with my Gamma.

I kept my wife in my arms as much as possible. EJ linked me, “She’s ok.” I replied simply, “I saw the car.” EJ admitted, “I know that because I pushed when you did. I saw it too. Those bastards could’ve just left Ladybug there in the car.” They should’ve.

Melanie was rambling about cars and accidents. I was fine if she never got in a car again. Apparently, Resistance things didn’t count. I ordered Phil, “I need you to figure out how to make those car crashes count.” Phil snorted, “Sierra says that’s impossible, but Gage is on figuring out how making sure nothing happens to the car you bought her.” Good.

Hastein was trying not to smile when Melanie refused to let Kingsley be sorry for this turn of events. Rolfin was added to the list of people I was going to make miserable. He even tried to get his ex-mate to take back her rejection.

I linked TJ, “Are you ok?” TJ answered, “I simply give people other emotions, brother.” I argued, “Sometimes that hurts you. It was a lot of pain from me, and then a rejection.” TJ admitted, “Yours was far more intense than the Demon’s. I think she’d already decided and had come to terms with it. So the rejection wasn’t so bad.”
