Cayden and Micah were about to find out, but I would have kept this secret for her if she needed me to. Oden pointed out, “The meeting with her ‘boss’ is at the end of this week though. That’s not a long time to keep it between us and our brothers in law.” True.

For now, I’d just be a worried, proud, and smug mate. I linked Cayden, “Mentally prepare to smack yourself and come on in.” Cayden said, “Ok. This is so strange. You know that, right?” I snorted, “You have no idea.”

I made them both promise to keep Melanie’s secret until she told the larger group. They weren’t Fairies, but they were men of their word. Oden told me, “You made Freya ready to jump up you by doing that.” That wasn’t my goal, but I’d gladly welcome that reaction.

Cayden was excited to get the answer he’d been wanting for quite some time. Oh boy, was he in for a surprise. Cayden’s astonishment was all over his face when Melanie admitted she was the leader of the Resistance.

I linked Cayden, “I think I had that same look on my face, but no one was in here to call me on it.” Cayden admitted, “I never even suspected it was Melanie. If I’d asked that question, she’d probably have given it away. DAMN IT! That’s just….” My brother in law trailed off then said, “I’ve always known she was impressive, but this is just damn.” I replied, “Exactly.”

I linked Micah, “How ya doing?” Micah said, “I’m in shock.” Max linked me, “What the HELL is going on with Micah?” I answered, “He learned some surprising information. He’s perfectly fine and I have eyes on him. I’d never let anything happen to your mate.” Max calmed down, “I know that, big brother.” I replied, “I know you do.”

Cayden wanted to talk more about it, but Melanie wanted to talk to Ezra, so I popped us outside. You could practically cut the tension with a knife. Alpha Theo was not in a good mood. His mate, Anne, was trying to get him to calm down.

Melanie explained she thought they both deserved answers. Ok, so that wasn’t good. Gage linked me, “FUCKKKKKKKKK!” Yeah, I felt the same way. I linked EJ, “Is there anything betweenTheo and Lucas besides the death of his brother, Alpha Aaron?” EJ answered, “Not that I know of.”

I linked Phil, “Is this about Alpha Aaron?” Phil answered, “It has to be. That’s all that was between Lucas and Theo. Not that it was a small thing, but they were friends until then.” Great. Dad felt intrigued and a little worried.

We headed down to the dungeons. I popped away from the group to turn on the cameras and microphones. EJ walked in and observed what I was doing. My brother questioned, “You turned the recording off but kept the cameras on?” I nodded.

EJ prodded, “Are you going to explain that?” I answered him, “Nope.” I wasn’t going to have it recorded that Melanie was the leader of the Resistance if she did in fact blurt it out. Oden agreed, “That’s the right call.”

Gage said, “Weird thoughts are forming, Alexander.” Phil stared at me as if I was puzzle he was putting together. I told them both, “Go ahead and let the weird thoughts form.” Oden snorted, “They were going to do that anyway.” I knew that.

Lucas questioned, “Shouldn’t we record the conversation in case Ezra confesses to something?” Cayden answered, “No.” We locked eyes. He had the same thought as I did. I didn’t want a recording of anything admitting Melanie had a single thing to do with the Resistance, let alone that she was the leader.

Dylan commented, “How interesting and intriguing. Commander boy over there is trying to weasel his way into an interesting Conners mate spot. That’s new. What a fascinating new twist in my show. Normally he’s stoic and gives no craps about nothing!”

Alpha Theo ground out, “Can we just listen to whatever this is silently?” Dylan gasped, “I am offended, Alpha Theo. Have we not met? I am never silent, and I know you find me amusing. Your lips twitch like LSGAP over there when I’m around.”

Alpha Theo growled, “Just this once, let’s be silent.” Lucas interjected, “You’re upset with me, not Dylan. So, don’t take it out on him.” Alpha Theo growled. Anne said, “Theo, I know you trust Melanie. That’s why we are here.”

Alpha Theo inclined his head. Anne touched his shoulder, “Let’s just get some answers. We all know what this is about. Well, we know what this has to be about.” Alpha Theo whispered, “Aaron.” Oden said, “Well, everyone really did know.”

Everyone nodded. Alpha Theo demanded to know, “What could Ezra possibly know about what happened to Aaron? We all know who killed my brother.” Lucas winced. I urged, “Let’s find out. Because Ezra had something to do with it. That’s painfully clear to everyone here.”

Melanie had sat down in front of Ezra. Both traded jabs while Melanie got to the purpose of what she wanted to discuss. My mate was feeding his ego, basically letting him decide to talk about what he wanted after she got what she wanted.

Dylan snorted, “And that my friends is why you are all lost without us Beta’s. That man has NO clue MelAshley’s already won the argument. She’s getting what she wants first, and she could just not talk about whatever he wants after. Amateur. Ye of poor Alpha blood. It’s hard to feel sorry for him though.”

Alpha Theo groaned, “Dylan.” Dylan grinned replying, “Heads up.” Before the man threw a bag of popcorn at Alpha Theo, along with a tiny bottle of whiskey. Dylan winked, “I’ve got you in my buddy Beta James’s absence. Have no fear, the man will be along soon. I sent out the Beta wolf signal.”

I snorted knowing Dylan would’ve said the bat signal if my mom wasn’t in the room. Alpha Theo said, “I told James it was fine if he didn’t come.” Dylan whispered, “Then I told him that you were wrong. My buddy Beta James is going to listen to me because I speak the Alpha language. We all do. I also know thatI know that you know Beta James is coming because he’s your bestie.”

Uncle Aiden popped in as a portal opened and a few of my Hackura cousins, along with a few uncles, walked through to join us. I looked at Cayden with a clear question in my eyes. Cayden linked me to answer, “H and Bjourn need to hear this in case your wife does get mad and spill the beans. Which I honestly just bet she will.” I admitted, “I agree, actually.”

Ezra had been a thorn in my wife’s side for far too long. Now Melanie was safe, and he couldn’t tell anyone anything we told him. For a Beta blood it had to just itch at her to throw it in his face. I’d have done so then killed him. My mate was waiting for the perfect moment.

I didn’t see any logical way that she didn’t throw the truth in his face now. Melanie’s pay off was finally here, and Ezra clearly had no idea how much Melanie was salivating over this moment. The bond told me she was though, and literally no one could blame her.

Oden commented, “The McAlister’s are down here with us.” This was a large group than I wanted here, but her family was going to find out one way or another. I looked at Uncle Aiden, evaluating him. My Fairy Uncle must know because he’d recognize an anagram in a heartbeat.

Melanie went right for the kill asking about Alpha Aaron. Ezra’s reaction gave it away immediately. This reprobate had something to do with what happened back then. Alpha Theo growled. Anne said, “Let’s just see what Melanie finds out before you run out there and rip him to pieces.”

Alpha Theo declared, “If that piece of shit Alpha had ANYTHING to do with what happened to my brother, I want him.” Dad offered, “We’ll see where this goes. I think we’re all getting the idea of what went down. We will figure somethingout so that you’ll have your time with him. No matter how long with him you need. That I promise you, Theo.”

Alpha Theo said, “Ezra always wanted Aaron’s territory. Always.” He was growling. Anne sighed, “That’s true. Ezra has approached Theo for it a lot. Even though my mate has told him everything short of drop dead. Which I did say should be said at a certain point.” Alpha Theo gripped the table.

Beta James walked in and looked around before asking, “What the hell is going on?” Dylan answered, “I already told you what’s going down in the super-secret camera room. LSGAP just had to get on the ground floor of this, but I employed the same people he hired for ours. We all have secret rooms now.”
