Keaton said, “Odette just turned seventeen.” Dad deflated, “Oh. Right. I knew that. Well, that’s a little better, but I repeat: what the fuck, dad?! How could you not tell us we had a sister? We would’ve had her here! She would be safe right now.”
Grandpa Nathan explained, “I didn’t know. Now that I've seen her picture Herb and I know that’s our pup. I had no idea. I thought it was your mother. I…” Grandpa trailed off then whispered brokenly, “I was so drunk and I thought I imagined it. I didn’t know it was real. The woman looked just like your mother. I just missed how we used to be so much and…” He broke down crying.
I linked Phil, “Call our allies.” EJ asked, “How did no one who met Odette fail to realize she’s somehow my aunt if Melanie did?” Sierra whispered, “As soon as Mel said it, it felt like glass breaking in my head. It was so obvious.”
I asked Sierra, “Where is Melanie?” Sierra said, “As I said, I don’t know. Mel went after Odette.” I asked, “How fucking long could it take to track down a girl who was scared she saw a Werewolf shift?” Sierra winced, “Odette was kidnapped.” Oh for the love of god.
Mom snorted, “Of fucking course she was.” She popped and then was thrown back. I cringed feeling mom’s pain. She’d been burned. Grandpa Nathan whispered, “Haley.” Mom said, “I’d go to hell itself for you Nathan. I had to try.”
Grandpa cried, “She knew and she didn’t let me know I needed to help my little girl. Or that I had one.” My parents fury laced into me. Phil linked, “So this is what Cassandra knew.Great. That’s great. What a good secret to keep. Please NOTE MY SARCASM!” I did.
Elise said, “She wouldn’t. Cassandra had no way to tell you even if she knew.” Mom scoffed, “Of fucking course she did. Arion goes to see her all the damn time. Cassandra could’ve told him.” I asked “Mom, does Uncle Arion know where they are?”
Mom answered, “I don’t think so. He’s here at the moment. Arion, please go find Melanie. If she’s not back, I’d doubt she’s gotten to Odette yet. I’d imagine my daughter in law was trying to beat us home so my son would not be upset.” Oden scoffed, “It didn’t work. I’m upset!” I knew that.
The wind flew at my back. I knew it was a sign from my dead Fairy uncle. Jayden popped in with Finn who promptly walked over to his dad. Dylan said, “My god, Finn. THE DRAMA. Nathan’s secret love pup has been revealed to the room and himself.”
“I missed how MelAshley dropped that bomb on good old Nathan. Don’t you just know it was fantastic? His daughter’s name is a bit like a MelAshley situation, but what it boils down to is her name is Odette....”
Finn interrupted, “Shut the hell up! Her name is Odette?!” Keaton growled, “It’s a beautiful name!” Finn said, “Sure, maybe Odette’s other half is a swan. How cool would that be? I’m quite close with a certain Beta cousin of my Alpha’s. His Alpha is looking for his long lost sister. Care to guess what her name is?”
I muttered, “I already said it and NO ONE commented on it!” Everyone shot me weird looks, but I was right. I already said Odette was Lux’s sister. Dylan squealed, “THREE PACKS! One girl is going to bring together three packs. God, of course she is. That’s the power of the Conners blood right there.”
Dad said, “No way.” Maverick asked, “Who is looking for their sister?” I answered, “Lux. Can any of you hear me when I speak?!” Uncle Jackson said, “No, my ears are ringing and I canfeel my heartbeat in my face.” Ok, fine. My family was having a whole ass moment so I could forgive them.
I ordered, “Phil, call Lux. I’m going to call Melanie.” I took out my phone and dialed. I heard the phone ring and looked up at Sierra. I growled, “I’ve been talking to you this whole time!” Sierra said, “Uh yes. Melanie dropped her phone when she ran out to go help Yellow Hills when their Warrior told us about the attack on their pack.”
Gandpa Nathan said, “Alexander, I tried to follow Melanie but she’s really fast. We found her SUV and Odette’s crash site. They just disappeared. I’ve been trying to find them, I really have. I’ve been out every day searching. I was only popped back ten minutes ago because Angela said you were coming back.” Dad felt like he was in shock in the bond.
Alpha Theo, Lux, Anne, Beta James, and Harrison were popped in by my cousin Gerard. Lux asked, “Is it really Odette?” Sierra held out Melanie’s phone. Lux snatched it away from her. My friend whispered, “Odette.”
Lux looked up and growled at Keaton, “And my little sister is mated to you? How? She’s only seventeen.” Alpha Theo gently said, “It must be her and your other half that can tell.” Keaton nodded. Lux lunged and I popped in front of him to stop him.
Oden sighed, “Come on! We don’t have time for this.” We did not. Lux yelled, “HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN TO HER!” Keaton growled, “I wasn’t even here! I was at the SAME DAMN EVENT YOU WERE!”
Lux growled, “You should’ve protected her!” Keaton growled, “You mean like you should’ve! Odette’s been looking for you! You just left her and never came back! My mate has serious abandonment issues because of you! I didn’t know it was you or I would’ve come to your territory to kick your ass!” Emmett got between them with me to hold Keaton back.
Oden said, “So, Channing is pissed and I’m not entirely sure he’s not going to rip out of Keaton.” For god’s sake. Lux yelled, “I didn’t abandon my little sister! I left her a letter. I even tried to see her, but my mom refused while the custody hearing was going on.”
Lux snarled, “Once it was over they were gone before I could see her. There was nothing left behind. My dad and I have been looking for her ever since.” Lux scoffed and continued, “Abandoned her. I practically raised her! No, not practically, I DID!”
“I was the one up doing the middle of the night feeds. I was telling my dad I needed some money for shoes that I didn’t buy because Odette needed formula. Don’t you EVER say I abandoned my baby sister! I was a pup too, but I did everything I could for her. Every dime my dad was giving in child support that I could get away from my mom went to Odette once she had her. I love her! She’s my baby sister.”
Grandpa Nathan snarled, “That woman didn’t even take care of my pup?!” Lux whirled, “Your what?! HOLY SHIT! IT’S YOU?!” Alpha Theo sighed, “Morgana didn’t tell you. Did she, Nathan?” Grandpa said, “I had no idea. I never would’ve….” He trailed off then whispered, “I would’ve been there for my pup. I would’ve bought anything she needed. I would’ve been her dad.”
Keaton sighed, “You still can be. Odette suspects because of a friend, who I now guess is Melanie, that her dad doesn’t know about her. My mate wants to meet you.” Mom said, “Hold the fuck up. So, we have the pills she was taking here? Odette doesn’t have them?”
Grandpa Nathan confirmed, “Yes, we have them. They were in her purse that was in the car.” Mom asked, “How soon will Odette’s wolf start talking to her then? Because that has to be what has been keeping her wolf weak and silent. How long has Odette been taking them? Do we have those answers?”
Sierra answered, “Odette told us since she’s been on them since she was fourteen.” Lux asked, “What damn pills?” Alpha Theo said, “Oh god. This is all my fault.” Lux asked, “Dad?” Alpha Theo looked and sounded horrified, “Morgana found a way to keep Odette’s wolf quiet because I took you. You turned sixteen and I took you. So, she hid Odette’s wolf from her. Son of a bitch!”
Mom shouted, “Exfuckingcuse me?! Morgana, which that name just screams evil bitch by the way,” Anne muttered, “Afreakingmen.” Mom didn’t hear her and continued, “Is the one to blame for this. I have other thoughts on that name too. Did Odette ever mention being committed?”
I linked EJ, “What about the name Morgana?” EJ admitted, “I have no idea.” Dad growled, “You think Odette’s unstable?” Mom said, “No, I think she’s a teenager who basically raised herself since she was five years old and her bitch of a mother took her away from the big brother, and only family, she knew.”
“Odette was probably alone a lot. She probably didn’t take her medicine at some point. She’s a child and teenagers are stubborn sometimes. What would Odette hear if she did that? A fucking voice in her head. Humans immediately go to a mental disorder when people start hearing a voice in their head.”
The room was filled with growls. EJ linked me, “This is fucked up.” I knew that. Oden growled, “LINK MATE! Freya isn’t answering me.” I linked my mate, “Melanie Jane Conners, did we not just have a conversation about this?” I literally felt my link get blocked. I asked Oden, “What the hell?”
