Charles said, “I could never pin that man down. He’s annoyingly intelligent. I do know for a fact that Slade does remember Melanie. She was just a test subject to him though.” Mom snorted sarcastically commenting, “Too bad he never met my damn Uncle.”
Charles casually offered, “He did.” Uncle Aiden scoffed, “You’ve got to be joking.” Charles answered, “I don’t really do jokes.” Oden snorted, “I could’ve told them that.” Yeah, I probably could’ve too. That was going to be a conversation with the three of them. I could already tell.
Melanie’s surprise and elation hit me when she glanced at the fireplace. I asked, “What is that?” Hastein answered, “The world’s most useless weapon.” Charles commented, “Useless and expensive. The Missouri King acquired it from Europe fifty years ago. It cost him millions. It’s said only the one worthy can make it work. It’s just a silly story though.”
I disagreed, “I don’t think it is because my mate is quite excited about it.” Dylan snorted, “MelAshley gets a cool sword too?! Werebengal friends, where were you at with that one?”Irfan frowned, “I have never heard of the White Wolf having a sword.”
I reasoned, “Legends miss some things. Whatever it is, my mate knows about it and wants it.” Charles said, “Then I hope Melanie is the worthy one because that sword injures whoever touches it.” I growled, “Great.” Gage groaned, “There was so much sarcasm in that comment.” Oden was growling in my head.
Melanie goaded the Vampire King which had me wanting to send her all my annoyance in the bond. I snarled when my wife was slapped. Dad asked Dylan, “Does having Beta blood have anything to do with the goading you all do?”
Dylan answered with a smile, “Of course. We all hold that power, I’ve just perfected the balance. I make you mad enough you want to spit nails, but you don’t hit me.” Dad dryly said, “I have, in fact, hit you before.”
Dylan replied, “Not in the face. It’s all about the balance. MelAshley’s tipping the scales because she wants them to be mad.” Valentina sighed, “Mel’s going to keep talking, which will annoy them because it’s her goal.” Of course she was. Oden grumbled, “If only we were INSIDE to stop her via kiss.” I smiled at that thought.
I was going to bite that lip of Melanie’s when this battle over. Tristan groaned, “Did my sister just insult a Vampire for his slapping technique?” Charles laughed, “To be fair, it was a weak slap. It is sad he’s that old and cannot deliver a slap.”
The Vampires around us agreed with him. I linked Dalton, “Does Paige know her brother is in there?” Dalton answered, “Look at my feet. Paige is on my other side in some sort of trance. I can’t talk to her when she’s like this.”
I stepped back and looked at Paige, in her salt circle chanting away, oblivious to everything around her. I told him, “You’re going to need to talk fast when she comes out of that.” Daltonretorted, “No shit, Sherlock. Her brother will definitely get over here as fast as he can.” I smirked at him and winked.
Dad snarled at the name Sherman. Uncle Arthur sped over to Charles saying, “I was afraid of that.” Charles agreed, “It was the only explanation. King Damon’s Lieutenant was the only Vampire that could compel other Supernaturals.”
I asked dad, “Was Sherman identified at the battle to bring mom home?” Mom asked, “How the fuck do you identify a pile of goo?” I somewhat asked, “A driver’s license?” Dad answered, “Sherman’s things were found among the goo piles as your mom says.”
Dylan said, “Which was a decoy, as MelAshley has locked eyes on the man himself. If he gets away, we can get a sketch of the man.” Mom muttered, “I could give you a damn sketch now. I remember him.” Dad pulled her into him.
I searched out her feelings in the bond and found my mom was pretty angry. That was more than fair. I focused back on Melanie. Dylan asked, “Do we thinking MMSGAP caught that?” Drake growled, “Dylan.”
Dylan said, “Now Drake, I know you and your boys did. I’m wondering about MMSGAP.” I asked, “Notice what?” Dylan threw popcorn in his mouth, “Your mate just saidsomeVampires could tell the King how her blood tasted. Not one, some.”
I growled and glared at Charles. I asked, “There is more than one?” Charles answered, “Yes.” Oden snarled. Gage demanded, “Say so many more words Vampire who makes me hate him.” I was about to ask for names my way when Melanie said she was already someone’s pet.
Fury and irritation lit through me. I grabbed Charles by his shirt and yanked him in front of my face. The Vampire had the audacity to smile. Gage warned, “Again, more words would begood here Charles.” I snarled, “WHO THE FUCK IS MY WIFE SAYING IS HER OWNER?!”
Drake said, “She better be joking.” Charles chuckled, “Young wolf, I would’ve never let any Vampire own Melanie. Nor would she.” I let him go. Hastein commented, “I know the answer.” Then I remembered. Kingsley’s Dragon had called Melanie her Werewolf pet. I relaxed right as Melanie said the same thing.
Dylan said, “CPCNA, we do not do this whole thing where we only share half thoughts here. Tell the class who Kayda is.” Hastein answered, “My mate’s other half.” Dylan yelled, “NEW GOAL! I must be the second pet of CPCNA’s mate!”
Several people snorted and several others outright laughed. Booker and Melanie traded jabs until Slade came forward. I was practically salivating with how badly Melanie wanted to kill him. Tristan growled, “If I get my hands on that guy….” he trailed off as several people laughed.
Valentina warned Tristan, “You won’t. Melanie has wanted to kill him since the night she was taken. She’s going to kill him, and she deserves to.” Melanie’s voice sounded like pure venom and hatred when she spoke to Slade. Not that I could blame her. I had no nice feelings for the man either. Oden snorted, “Less than nice.”
Gage asked, “How ya doing?” I retorted, “How do you think?” Gage winced. I linked Mason, “Play the song. I want my wife out of there.” The next moment the remix began to play. Wesley chuckled, “If Melanie kills the Vampire King when the beat drops then….”
Dylan interrupted squealing, “Of course the plan will kick off when the beat drops. Beta blood people. Say it with me! BETA BLOOD! Also, MelAshley is a dancer. It’s all about the beat.” My mate did in fact use the leg of the chair to kill the Vampire King of Missouri.
Mom scoffed, “What fucking Vampire has wooden chairs?! That’s insane.” Charles and Arthur spoke simultaneously, “Agreed.” Charles hummed, “Stupidity does kill.” Mom snorted, “Complacency kills. He was centuries old.” Arthur inclined his head.
Dylan said, “Don’t worry Vampires that we love, I got your back. Dylan is now on the lookout for complacency that kills.” Dad dryly chimed in, “Thank god. Now he will annoy you all.” Dylan gasped, “You wound me, but I know you love me. I’ll make time for you always LGSAP, don’t you worry. You hold a special place in my heart.”
Dylan pointed at the screen saying, “Oh look MelAshley gave up going after Slade for the special, nonfunctioning sword. NO ONE TALK OR TOUCH ME! I MUST SEE THIS MOMENT!” Everyone actually held their breath as Melanie went for said weapon.
My wife shot and sliced her way through a lot of people. Eventually, the Vampires stopped going for her. They seemed to want to see her with the sword. Melanie launched onto the fireplace, then I felt her pain. I snarled in anger.
Dylan said, “Ugh. Why does MelAshley still want the useless weapon?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!” Several people were laughing as my mate’s hand burned inside that house. Jason growled, “What the hell is Ladybug doing?” Drake said, “She’ll have a reason for getting it.”
Melanie screamed for Kingsley. I locked eyes with Hastein. My cousin realized, “This is what your mate wanted to talk to K about.” I nodded. Dylan said, “Wow. MelAshley loves your mate on a deep familial level to give up Slade to get her a weapon. I AM BACK TO BEING EXCITED!” We watched in collective awe as Kingsley caught the sword. Dylan shrieked in excitement when the blade appeared.
