Angelique smiled at them warning, “Prepare to be flabbergasted. You’ve been Melanie’d, and yes it’s a verb. We took a vote and it passed with no votes against it.” Phil frowned while Gage looked very nervous.
The McAlister’s came into the room. Tristan’s gaze was locked onto me, studying. What did I do? Angelique hissed at them, but that didn’t distract Tristan’s eyes lock on me. Valentina gently said, “Angelique, it was a misunderstanding.” Angelique shrugged, “So I read, but I still don’t think I like them. Time will tell. Anyway, back to Melanie’s Xander.”
I asked, “What did I do?” Tristan muttered, “Yeah, I need that answer.” He knew I’d done something? Oden said, “Apollo said they just figured that out because mate was avoiding them. They found out that was because she doesn’t feel normal but it’s also about some secret involving us.” What the fuck?
Angelique crossed her arms announcing, “You forgot something.” Now, I was confused. I looked at Phil. My cousin shouted, “I knew it! I knew I was forgetting something. I’ve got too many things going on, but I couldn't find anything telling me I forgot something. I thought I’d gone crazy. What is it? I can’t take it anymore! I’m losing sleep!”
Gage threw out, “Me too. We’ve literally been up late trying to figure it out.” Angelique looked at me, simply waiting. I admitted, “I’m confused. It’s not her birthday.” Angelique snorted, “Typical man thinking over anniversary and birthday dates. You forgot your honeymoon.” Holy fucking shit. I did.
Angelique continued, “You told Melanie you’d be taking one after your mating ceremony. She packed her suitcase with sexy things.” My mind went blank. Tristan groaned, “That was not a necessary detail.” Angelique created a fireball in her hand and stared at him until Gabe kissed her.
Guilt hit me hard because my mate’s friend was right. I’d completely forgotten about our honeymoon. Mom said, “Well now that I didn’t fucking say it.” She popped and punched me in the arm. Mom huffed, “I did not raise you to forget shit like that. Neither did your dad. So, don’t pull that shit or I WILL go fairy hijinks on you.” Words wouldn’t form.
Phil shouted, “She HACKED ME!” Gage snorted, “Oddly, I was included. Normally, I’d be the one catching that because I was forgotten. Hmm. I have mixed feelings here.” Angelique snorted, “You really should’ve seen that coming, Beta man. Mel hacks everyone. Yes, I said everyone Gamma man.”
Phil groaned, “I will get a physical calendar. Alexander, I’m so sorry man it…” I interrupted him, “It’s not your fault, Phil. Not even close. Gage, don’t apologize if you were about to because this wasn’t your fault either.” It was mine.
I asked Angelique, “Why didn’t my wife tell me?” Angelique glared at the McAlister’s then turned back to me saying, “Mel has issues believing she deserves nice things. I blame them,” She pointed at the McAlister’s, “and Black Path.”
I argued, “It’s not the McAlister’s fault.” Angelique shrugged, “That remains to be seen by me. I’m not as forgiving as the rest of the group. I wasn’t really raised around social protocols. I have my own code that I live by.”
“Melanie gave me everything I have. She met me at a time when I was nothing more than existing and gave me an actual life. Mel has done more for me than anyone else ever thought of doing when she had no reason to. Mel came and saved me and then gave me everything. I will always fight for her and be on her side.”
“Melanie is a tough cookie to understand. She deleted the calendar invite when she realized her Xander forgot. She’s used to putting herself last. Melanie thinks it’s ok because you were busy, but it’s not ok. DON’T let it happen again. Agreed?” I nodded, “It won’t.”
Phil snorted, “No it won’t. I’ve already ordered my physical calendar for the next five years. I can’t believe their honeymoon is what I forgot.” I clapped him on the back knowing it had been driving him crazy. Gage grumbled, “I’m finally included, and it feels like it was for evil purposes. I also ordered a physical calendar.”
Gabe changed the subject, “Aunt Haley, I’d like to have Thanksgiving in our realm this year. It was a security risk with Melanie here already. Now, I need to kill an Angel and some Bounty Hunters to make sure my mate is safe. I know Fairies would consider the event a success if there was a murder or five, but I’d rather have a nice, murder free, Thanksgiving with Angelique.”
Mom assured, “That’s fine. I can snap dinner done then Melanie, Zoe, and I can make our kick ass cherry pie in your realm like we could here.” Everyone nodded. Oden offered, “I’m sorry, Alexander. Freya said she respected Melanie’s feelings on the matter.”
It wasn’t my wolf or Melanie’s fault I forgot my honeymoon. Oden argued, “I forgot too. So much was thrown at us, but we should always remember mate.” I knew that and vowed something like this would never happening again.
We all walked over to Melanie’s office. Hastein and Melanie were talking about Kingsley, but they didn’t give away what she was. Damn. Phil groaned, “Of course they didn’t say what H’s mate’s Supernatural side is.” I replied, “It must really bother you because I actually want to know.” Phil snorted.
Angelique apparently knew Kingsley too. Seriously? Did the Resistance group have a social media page that connected them all? We should probably look into that. It would be private, but it could be something.
Angelique was excited and I had no doubt those two women would cook up trouble in that realm. Angelique actually seemed really interesting. Dad linked me, “You need to ask Melanie who is coming after Angelique before your cousins and uncle lose their minds.”
Oden hummed, “Dad knows we will get the answer.” We did, it just shocked the room. Angleique’s own aunt was coming for her. That is utterly ridiculous. None of my aunt’s or uncles would ever harm me. I was blessed to be born into a really good family though.
In another family my siblings and I might have been viewed as Angelique was outside of our parents. I knew no matter what my mom would never treat a pup, let alone her child, as Angelique’s mother had. It was unfathomable to me.
When Angelique said her aunt’s name we paused. Laila was Michaels’s daughter. Gabe felt intensely annoyed he couldn’t kill Laila herself, but there were options. People close to her who knew none of Michael’s line could die might give her over to be tortured forever.
Laila had ten sisters that could be Angelique’s mother. Gabe would have no problem torturing Laila. I’m sure when Laila found out who Angelique’s mate was, she would regret being the worst Angel of all time. The woman really didn’t do anythinggood and was incredibly rude. It wasn’t that surprising that Laila would be a blood elitist.
This topic brought the conversation to Raphael. Apparently, Melanie knew him too. I snarled down the link to Phil and Gage, “THAT MOTHERFUCKER! He knew my mate as Ashley?! If he had done an ounce of research, we could’ve had Melanie back.”
Gage said, “Yeah, he is an obnoxious Angel in my opinion.” Phil agreed, “He definitely is and under no circumstances should your mom talk to Lexi about that Angel.” EJ linked me, “Mom talking to Lexi about Raphael is a recipe for disaster.”
I linked my mom, “Uncle Aiden might be the better choice to talk to Raphael.” My mom retorted, “You Alpha males can be so fucking ridiculous but fine.” Gage linked, “Phew. One bullet dodged.” Melanie tried to help Raphael out.
I linked Phil and Gage, “That motherfucker knew the Hackura would help him if mom or Aunt Lexi asked them too.” Phil agreed, “Not only that but the Hood would’ve absolutely helped. Heath might be upset about this too.” That actually made me smile. Pissing off Heath Scott was a bad idea.
Thankfully, Raphael and Charlie Rose were not joining us for Thanksgiving. I liked Charlie Rose, but at the moment Raphael joining us would be bad for his health. Melanie felt sad that Kingsley wasn’t coming to Thanksgiving. Oden demanded, “Make mate happy and get her friend there!” I replied, “H will do that.”
Our Hackura cousins were going to leave but Melanie held Hastein back. The bond told me that my mate wanted to talk to him privately. I gave them a minute and walked to the kitchen. Tristan growled, “Alexander.” I said, “I know I fucked up, it won’t happen again.”
