Rifstel had to believe somehow, he and Shailagh could recreate the promised siblings. If she died… he obviously couldn’t do that. Rifstel hissed at me, “You’re dead.” Kayda screeched, “You will not harm my pet, Vampire. I will ROAST you.” Freya snickered in my head again.
I heard howls of victory. I smirked saying, “I hope your army is ready because mine just got in.” Rifstel demanded to know, “How do you even have an army?! You were supposed to be in Black Path all alone!”
I replied, “I’m the Voice of the Forgotten.” I heard the snarl of a tiger. I guess someone called the Bengal tigers too. Shailagh choked out, “Help me, Rif. It hurts” He glanced at her while Kingsley gripped my arm. Her eyes were trained on the Vampire behind Rifstel. Sherman.
The crazy man was smiling sinisterly at Kingsley and me. I told her, “Let’s fight our way back to our men. I don’t know if they can pop or portal to us. Time will tell; I guess. Or… we can know… because they aren’t here… and they looked pretty mad earlier.”
Kingsley gripped Ormr and smiled, “Gladly. This is just going to key H right up for sexy fun time.” We turned to face the group I was certain was part of the core to the Ring. They would have tricks up their sleeves, but Kingsley and I were together. That was a serious error on their part.
I announced, “Let the battle begin.” Freya flooded me with anticipation, and I knew we were ready. We were born for this. We had a destiny, and I wasn’t going to let Selene hold us back anymore. Kingsley and I raised our swords, ready for battle, as fighting took place around us. We were focused on our enemy, poised and ready to strike.
Heart to Heart
Alexander studied Melanie once I popped back to the hospital. I could feel in our bond she was agitated. Was this about the Hunter royalty she knew about or something else? I decided to ask. It was about some diary she wanted to read.
Oden told me, “That is easy enough to fix.” I knew that, since I could conjure it for her. It’s not like we were doing anything but waiting around as it was. Melanie was reading intently when Phil walked over with Sierra.
Sierra sighed, “Ugh. Really, Alexander? You just had to conjure Mel that book. We’ll lose her for the rest of the day now.” I reasoned, “All we are doing is waiting.” Phil said, “You have a meeting, well you and EJ do; however, I’m assuming EJ is not going.” I closed my eyes. Gage snorted, “He’s definitely not going, Phil.”
I asked, “What meeting?” Phil answered, “Someone who has information on Trevor.” I growled, “WHAT?!” Phil explained, “EJ was keeping that detail to himself, but obviously for reasons you now need to know.”
I declared, “I’ll go to the meeting, don’t cancel it.” Gage mockingly said, “I’m shocked.” Abigail giggled in his arms. Phil told me, “I wouldn’t dream of it. I would’ve gone myself, but I know that you need to do this.”
Sierra waved her arms saying, “Um, hello! I grew up with Trevor. What do you want to know? I can tell you.” Abigail shivered, “I wish I knew less about that man.” I answered, “I’m looking for all his associates, and you can’t tell me where they are.”
Sierra frowned, then handed me a piece of paper with printed names. I asked, “What is this?” Sierra explained, “Well, youwanted a list of people who hurt Melanie. It took me and the girls a while, but I’m pretty sure we got everyone. We were going to add you to our document but this seemed better.” I glanced at the list.
Oden growled, “ALEXANDER!” I growled out loud saying, “There are one hundred names on here.” Sierra nodded, “Those are the one who are alive. On the back you have the dead ones.” I snarled, “Some of these are Alpha’s of other packs.”
Sierra said, “Yup. You asked, I’m just giving them to you.” Phil groaned, “Uhh Melanie, feel free to chime in.” Sierra chuckled, “Mel’s not even remotely listening. You’ve lost her to her research. You could run an elephant through here and she wouldn’t notice. Heck you could dye her hair red, and she wouldn’t notice.”
I asked, “Why do I feel like that happened?” Sierra said, “It did. We did it once to see if we could. One time we gave her highlights, she didn’t notice until twenty-four hours later.” I frowned, “I like her hair how it is.” Sierra rolled her eyes saying, “Every so often a girl needs a change.” I shrugged.
Eventually I said, “Thank you, for the list.” I could go through it myself or ask my cousins for some help. Oden snarled, “We will kill them all.” I agreed, “Obviously.” I asked Sierra, “Whose diary is that?” Sierra answered, “Some Fairy. I don’t know more though.” Abigail admitted, “Me either.”
I wondered why Melanie was so interested in it. Sierra and Phil left to go and confirm the meeting. After a few hours, EJ came out smiling. My brother announced, “My sons are here.” I hugged him whispering, “Congratulations, big brother. How’s Elise?” EJ smiled, “She did a great job. Come in and see them.” Everyone filed in.
I noticed Melanie was still sitting down, chewing on her lip, studying the book. I tapped her leg, but she didn’t notice. Finally, I pushed on her shoulder while Valentina teased her. I eventually got her to follow me into the hospital room.
When EJ announced my nephews names, tears filled my eyes. I linked, “Alex?” EJ smirked at me. He replied, “I love you, brother.” I gave him a hug and held my namesake. I watched Melanie with both boys. She looked damn good holding a pup. Oden purred in my head.
I informed EJ I’d take the meeting. My big brother linked me, “About that meeting, you don’t have all the information.” I replied, “Phil clued me in. I know why you kept it on the down low. I’ll take our brothers with me. It will be fine.” I kissed Melanie and then left.
I popped outside and waited for Wesley and Max to show up. They would’ve heard me tell EJ they were coming. Oden linked, “I don’t like mate’s feelings right now.” I sighed admitting, “Neither do I. It seemed like she felt like an outsider.”
I told Oden, “We will take care of it when we get back.” I linked dad, “Can you watch Mel?” Dad replied, “Already on that.” I sighed in relief, but I should’ve known. Wesley and Max came outside. I asked, “Are you guys ready?”
Max answered, “Always. What exactly are we doing? What meeting?” I said, “It has something to do with Trevor. Someone is giving us information.” Wesley said, “I don’t like that. It seems odd. We already have Trevor.”
I told him, “Yes, but I don’t just want him. I want all his associates and his friends. They all knew Melanie wasn’t his. Those people tried to help him take her away from me, and I cannot let them live for that reason alone.”
Max said, “I get it.” Wesley sighed, “I do too. Let’s go.” I popped them both to an SUV. Phil texted me the meeting location and I put in the GPS. Gage linked, “Be careful.” I snorted, “They should be scared of me, not the other wayaround.” Gage sighed, “Just be careful, for god’s sake.” I chuckled back.
Wesley said, “That address is in no man land. I’m liking this less and less.” I said, “If they try to cross us, little brother, we will show them why that’s a mistake.” Max cheered, “Hell yes we will!” I couldn’t stop my smile. We made great time to the spot we were meeting.
I told them both, “Thank you for coming with me.” Wesley said, “We’ve always got your back, big bro.” Max agreed, “Yep.” I grinned, grateful for their support. A man walked up to us with his hood up. Max muttered, “That’s not suspicious.” I linked him, “I don’t sense anyone else around us.” Max answered, “Neither do I.”
I called out to the man, “What do you have for us?” The man sighed, “Myself. I’m tired of being hunted.” I snarled and grabbed him by the collar which made his hood fall down. Max stated, “That’s Mark, Trevor’s friend.”
