Cassandra’s eyes flashed in anger at the mention of Nathan. Ok. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned he had a second chance mate… or said she’d be better…. if I wanted her help. Freya agreed, “Probably not, but it was amusing.” It was also true. Cassandra was horrible to Nathan and even she knew it.
Cassandra shouted, “I won’t tell you anything.” I sighed. Freya told me, “We can bring other wolves here with us.” I smirked. I told Cassandra, “Well, when I find out whatever it is… I’ll bring your sons and Nathan here with me to deal with you.” Cassandra paled, “What?”
I Explained, “I can bring them with me. So… would you care to change your answer?” My mate’s estranged grandma thought about it then her face hardened. Cassandra yelled, “NO!” I said, “Wow… you sounded liked a petulant pup just now… that’s hardly how you like to be seen.”
Cassandra glared at me. I sighed, “Suit yourself. I don’t know how… but I feel in my heart, as soon as I find out what this is…. I’ll know it’s what you wouldn’t tell me. You had a chance to help Nathan and your family, I’ll make sure he knows that too. Maybe it will be the push he needs to move on from the guilt he feels about your death.” I punched her in the face.
I turned to leave then added, “Oh and by the way, Cassie isn’t named after you.” Cassandra shouted, “Yes, she is!” I laughed, “You missed a Fairy evasion. The name of the woman who got Haley help when she came through the portal in Alabama’s name was Cassie O’Fallon. That’s who Cassie is named after. Suck on them apples!”
Arion laughed, “You are such fun. There are some people you deserve to meet. Oh, and Cassandra, keep in mind, I can bring Haley here too. If whatever you know upsets your son, it will upset my sister. I’ll be delighted to bring my sister here for a chat with you.” I stopped.
I said, “Ignoring the Cassandra comment… you have someone that you think I deserve to meet. Not should or can meet? That doesn’t sound fun.” Arion winked at me and led me through Limbo. There were two despondent wolves sitting there.
They looked up and I noted who they looked like… but I’d never even seen their picture… or met them, so I couldn’t becertain. Their eyes had long lost their sparkle. They looked at me and paled. Arion introduced, “Melanie, meet Betty and Davis Frost. The people who made it possible for your wolf to be suppressed, by being complete and utter morons.”
Freya snarled at them while I sighed. Betty apologized, “We are so sorry.” I replied, “Literally nothing will make up for what you did to me. There is no apology… in all the realms… that will be enough. You couldn’t even accept your own son for who he is… so you definitely can’t apologize appropriately to me.”
Davis said, “We love our pups.” I said, “Well… that’s interesting… because I know you gave them up… when they were adults. I know you missed Travis’s first shift… and you left Dylan right after he took over as the Beta… so… we don’t have the same definition.”
I rubbed my temples and continued, “You may have lit the match on the research… but the person who is to blame for this is Selene. You have no idea the pain you caused me to go through. I spent hours in agony trying to fight off the spell with Freya. They tried to have me forcibly marked.”
They started to talk. I held up my hand, “Your son, the one you deemed not serious enough…. told me that it wouldn’t have worked. That’s not true for any other poor soul who isn’t the white wolf. I hope to god this never happens to another Werewolf, but if it does you can carry that with you.”
I studied them then said, “I see that you do regret what you’ve done… well…. to me. I don’t know why that is. I’m honestly guessing Arion here made you see the error of your ways… somehow. The point is…. I free you from this place.” Oh crap… could I do that?
Freya snickered, “Yes, we can. They would probably rather stay here. Their place is meant in Hell.” I reasoned, “Well… they shouldn’t be here and they’ve held off Iblis long enough.Though… I clearly need to look more into them to see what deserved them going to Hell.”
I told the Frost’s, “You’ve been here long enough… thwarting your true afterlife… so move on.” Betty cried, “Our sons, they hate us.” I shook my head, “Ok… staying in Limbo doesn’t change that. You hurt them and tried to hurt their pups.”
I pointed out, “I feel like you can understand why they don’t like you. I mean… I’m not great at people and I’m clicking onto the situation without the full picture pretty well.” I glanced at Arion, “Right?” Arion snorted, “Yes.”
I told the Frost’s, “I’m granting you the ability to leave Limbo, take it or leave it.” Betty whispered, “We will take it.” Freya took over saying, “Then go that way.” She pointed. They both walked away quickly and faded from view.
Well… that had to make Iblis happy with me… right? Freya answered, “Along with Life and Death, yes. Wolves are not mean to circumvent their destiny in Limbo like my sister has them doing.” Arion admitted, “That did not go how I thought it would.”
I said, “Well… it didn’t go exactly go like you think. Plus… don’t tell me you haven’t given them hell.” Arion smirked, “I definitely did. What do you mean it didn’t go like I think?” I answered, “Look… I’ve got enough grudges I’m keeping. I don’t have the mental capacity to add the Frost’s. They are dead. They may have brought the information to light, but Selene should’ve never allowed that to come out.”
“I have a lot of anger towards Selene… and truthfully… I lump those two lug nuts finding this information out to be her fault.” Arion nodded as I continued, “Their afterlife was not meant for this place… they are meant to be where they are now.”
Arion’s eyes gleamed, “Are you saying they willingly walked out of here to Hell?” I answered, “That is apparently… where they were always meant to be.” Arion gasped, “MelanieMcAlister Conners, I underestimated you. That was quite an evasion you just threw out. I find myself being quite proud.” I shrugged.
Arion added, “I must thank you for finding that information about my being able to appear.” I shrugged, “I hope it gives all of you comfort and peace. Have you asked your mother... who she told about you guys yet?” Arion’s eyes flashed angrily.
My mate’s uncle answered, “Alania seems to believe we would be in danger if we knew. My father is speaking with her about it.” I frowned, “That makes… no sense. We are in danger because we don’t know. I have it narrowed down to four people. It was five, but I was able to take one off the list.”
Arion smirked, “I know that because I found your list.” I snorted, “Of course you did.” Arion winked and tapped my forehead. I asked, “Why did you do that?” Arion laughed, “That’s how I send people back from the Beyond.”
I pointed out, “I brought myself here though.” Arion smiled, “How true. Get yourself back to your body. My nephew should be back soon, and he’ll be unsettled should you not be beside him.” I said, “Well, before I go… I do have a theory about you appearing… uhhh places.”
Arion asked, “Oh?” I admitted, “I have no proof… but I do have projections…. and mine make sense to me.” Arion chuckled, “I’ll go ahead and agree they make sense.” I told him, “I think that… based on the texts… you could appear in other realms for an hour… maybe longer… we need more data.”
“Though… I am positive, no matter what… you’ll be able to be around in Faerie the longest. I mean… I don’t know that, but it does make sense to me in a way… because it’s your homeland… and where Fairies powers… don’t require more work… to, well… work.”
Arion laughed, “Oh rambling mate of my nephew. I’ll have to try that out. I’ll go and try to appear to Aiden or my mate inFaerie. If it works, then you are correct. If not, no harm.” I asked him, “Do you know what Cassandra knows about the Conners?”
Arion frowned, “I do not. My guess would be that it’s about Nathan’s second chance mate. Cassandra would hate that.” I snorted, “If it’s a Fairy, she would hate that… but I don’t think it’s about that.” Arion threw his head back and laughed.
My mate’s uncle said, “Oh my sweet baby Jesus. That needs to be what happens. I need Nathan with a full blooded Fairy.” I admitted, “I mean… he does need the fun. Like I said though… I don’t think it’s about Nathan’s second chance. I don’t know why… I just don’t think that’s it. Unless… Selene told her who it was… Cassandra couldn’t know.”
