Melanie gasped then smiled realizing, “Your me… even after what she went through, started the Resistance too?” I answered, “She did and it annoys her deeply that we ever called it the Blue Circle Group.”
That Melanie gasped, “RIGHT?! It’s so obvious. The design was clear.” I smirked saying, “Anyway, my mate probably had an easier time starting the Resistance since she lived in Black Path. Which I hate quite a bit.”
I paused admitted, “I noticed your face when I talked about them. You are friends with Sierra, Addison, Hendrick, Caine,Dax, and Mason. Aren’t you?” Melanie picked at her sleeve. I said, “That’s your tell. You always do that when you don’t want to answer and are nervous.”
Melanie instantly stopped then admitted, “Yes, I know them. We are in the Resistance…. together.” I asked, “Is anyone from around here in it with you?” Melanie admitted, “Well, my best friend is, but I didn’t want to… get anyone in trouble. Adeline followed me and figured it out. So, I had to let her join.”
I asked, “Have you met Charles?” Melanie smiled, “The Vampire? You know him? I like him… he knows a lot of stuff…. but yeah…. I met him in King’s diner.” I asked, “How the hell is the guard my dad has on you from Black Mountain not realizing you leave?”
Melanie said, “Well, I have a Demon friend who shimmers…” I interrupted, “Valentina. She’s Julian’s mate.” Melanie smiled asking, “Really?” I answered, “Yes. Why haven’t you told everyone you started the Resistance?”
Melanie explained, “Because they won’t let me help, and I really wanted to… So, I kind of hacked into your dad. Charles has helped me… get better, but I had the basics. I just wanted to help, but they say I’m a little pup… and that I’m too young.”
“I just… I knew I could help and I am helping. I’ve heard them all say that. They say the… Blue Circle Group… since they don’t know our name yet… but they say that we help. I’m helping… which is a lot of the word help… but I am.”
I warned, “They will figure it out.” Melanie conceded, “Eventually. Right now, they don’t suspect me because… I’m… according to them… just a pup.” I told her, “My parents easily suspect you.” She said, “Then they are the only ones. Well ok… Beta Dylan suspects too… but they think I’m just in it.”
I laughed, “Just maybe tell your me. What was up with the story of how you met Paige?” Melanie winced, “Well, my Xander is… upset with me.” I frowned, “I didn’t get that impression.”Melanie sighed, “He had a mission…. and couldn’t go with me to my first school dance. I was just going to go with my best friend, Adeline.”
That was sweet they were still friends here since our Adeline was bound and determined to get my mate back as her best friend. I said, “That’s not a reason for him to be upset with you.” Melanie sighed, “This transfer guy… asked me to go with him as friends…. His friend asked Adeline so… I guess everyone said that was a double date.” Oh no.
Melanie reasoned, “But… I didn’t agree to a date. He said friends… it turned out… they weren’t real transfers anyway. They tried to kidnap me… well, they did briefly… because I let them… out of curiosity. They took me to this building. Paige was there… and we escaped together.”
Melanie waved, “Paige… thought she couldn’t leave, but I pulled her through the enclosure… type deal… or ward line… she said was there. Now Paige thinks I’m some super powerful wolf because of that.”
I admitted, “You are.” Melanie snorted, “You’re biased.” I explained, “No, you are a very powerful wolf. You are the white wolf.” Melanie’s jaw dropped, “No freaking way.” I nodded, “Yes, I’m sure the others will get to that information on the little doodad you came up with.”
Melanie flushed then said, “T is saying they need us, so probably.” I grabbed her and popped back. Drake spoke first, “This says my daughter is the white wolf.” Dylan said, “Of course she is. SGAP you are THE WORST! You just get everything. Always. It is SO HARD to be your friend.”
I teased, “All versions of you say that, and yet you are all my dad’s friends.” Dylan bemoaned, “It’s such a hard lot in life I have received.” Drake questioned, “Ladybug is the white wolf? That’s what you’re saying? You. Not someone who wrote this as a prank.”
I confirmed, “It’s not a prank, Melanie is the white wolf. Like I told you, in our reality her wolf was suppressed.” Drake said, “In this reality her ass isn’t going to New York without someone going with her. Probably the guard you’ve assigned her.”
Melanie gasped, “What? I don’t want to go to New York!” Sam reasoned, “Honey, you got into Julliard in their reality. Twice. That’s so impressive. Alexander could pop you back and forth. We could make sure you were safe if you wanted to go.”
Melanie sighed, “I don’t want to go.” The other me said, “You have plenty of time to decide, Mel.” I linked her, “He’s not mad at you.” She glanced at me, startled. I winked at her and told her, “You can link anyone you want as the white wolf.” Melanie asked, “Really?” I said, “Yup.” Her eyes widened.
Dylan snorted, “Oh, the unfairness of it all.” Dad asked, “What now?” Dylan answered, “The other reality Mini Alpha Prick is linking our Melanie because the white wolf can link anyone she wants. Which he knows, because he’s her mate. Say, Mini Moody, do you have a tattoo of a full moon on your foot?”
I replied, “No. It’s a half-moon with three stars.” Dylan shrieked with laughter while I rolled my eyes. Dylan said, “Oh no, you can’t leave after dropping that information.” I tiredly told them, “I don’t exactly get to pick.” My eyes drifted shut.
I opened them and again found myself in my bed. My wife was on her computer. She shut it the second I arrived and smiled at me. I said, “You are a little stinker. You started the Resistance in a ribbon strand where you met me when you were eight. They weren't letting you in to help. So, you decided to help all your own.”
Melanie laughed, “That does sound like me.” My wife changed topics, “Have you met Katie?” I questioned, “Keaton’s Katie? The girl he likes? How would I have met her?” Melanie answered, “I don’t know… I guess that’s a good point.” I asked, “Why do you ask?”
Melanie let out a frustrated huff, “Something is weird about her.” I laughed, “Let it go for now. I’m sure Keaton will bring her around when he’s ready.” Melanie grumbled, “People… keep saying that about her…but when I’m right later… I’m using it as a reason to do what I want.” I chuckled.
The days passed and we were into April. EJ was on high alert waiting for Elise to go into labor. We celebrated mom’s birthday. She’d been hoping the twins would share her birthday but no such luck. A portal opened and Cayden stepped through.
My brother in law asked, “Where is Melanie?” EJ snorted, “What did she do?” I linked Melanie, “Cayden wants to talk to you.” Melanie replied, “I’m researching more from the books and…” I cut her off, “I think he will come get you if you don’t come in here.” Melanie huffed, “Fine.” Oden snorted, “Mate is not happy.” I could tell.
I told Cayden, “She’s coming.” Melanie walked in ten minutes later. Sierra commented, “You guys are welcome. Cayden, you know how hard it is to get her out of the rabbit hole she finds herself down in. Now, she’s snarky.” Phil and Gage snorted.
Cayden said, “Melanie you said Slade Carter is in charge of the Hunters.” Melanie replied, “He is.” Cayden snorted, “Micah found this information on the drive you gave us. If he’s in charge, who are the Knakonechny’s?” I felt her guilt briefly about something.
Melanie explained, “Well… Imagine the Hunters like England. Slade is the prime minister…. and the Knakonechny’s are the royal family.” Cayden shouted, “Hunters have a royal family? How the hell don’t we know that?”
Melanie answered, “Umm… it’s kind of a secret?” Cayden questioned, “Then how do you know? The Hunters forced you to join them, but they could not have trusted you enough to share that secret.” Melanie started picking at her sleeve.
