Mom said, “That doesn’t explain why they would still be attacking Megan.” Melanie blushed. I thumbed through the pages and found the highlighted passage that explained. I actually gasped, “You have got to be kidding me.”
Melanie said, “I mean… that’s what the book says and…” I kissed her. Uncle Aiden questioned in a strained tone, “Care to share what you’ve both now found? I don’t see it in my printed and highlighted information,” It was on the last page I had.
Melanie squeaked, “So… through a series…. of events…. Arion is powerful enough to take physical form for… well once he practices, at least an hour… probably… well in this realm. Faerie… would likely be longer… but like, it doesn’t go into detail… and those are my possible projections.”
Uncle Bjourn concluded, “So Arion and Megan can still have more children. That’s why Megan has never run across a second chance mate. Because she can still have children with Arion.” Melanie hummed, “I think if Megan takes back her rejection… maybe even if she doesn’t… they… well yes… they can still have more pups… if they want to.” Aiden started laughing.
Melanie muttered, “I don’t know why he’s laughing. Considering… your uncle is the one who is going to have to tell Arion about the whole taking physical form thing.” Mom snorted, “No one will have to tell Arion a damn thing because he is here. We can sense him.”
Suddenly Uncle Arion appeared before us. Melanie screamed and jumped in surprise. Elise asked, “Is that…?” Uncle Arion smiled greeting, “Hello, everyone.” Then flickered out. Melanie said, “So I guess he found the page that explained how… he can take form. It’s in my office. I was going to give it to Haley and Aiden to get to him… but he must have found it after listening to us talk.”
Uncle Aiden agreed, “It’s a safe bet my brother used a charm to find the piece of paper he needed and read it.” Mom whispered, “Arion can really come and take physical form? He can be with us?” Melanie answered, “For an hour at most… in this realm… and he’ll have to practice. Once Arion does though, he could appear once a day… and my projections say longer in Faerie.”
Mom burst into tears and dad started rubbing her back. Uncle Aiden hugged her. Mom wiped her tears saying, “I should call Megan before Arion appears and scares the shit out of her.”Melanie told her, “Umm… Arion won’t be able to appear again until… tomorrow… well here… which… Megan’s not in Faerie…. which I totally don’t know…. For a fact…or anything.” Oden snickered.
Mom smiled then whispered, “This means Arion can come to Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and even birthday parties.” Aiden snorted, “Our brother can also have a child, should he and Megan wish.” Grandpa was studying my mom.
Mom ran over and hugged Melanie tightly and whispered, “Thank you.” She ran out of the room to call Megan with dad right behind her. Mom’s feelings of guilt I’d never known she carried, had lifted all because of my mate.
Grandpa Titus announced, “I’d like to speak to Melanie. Alone.” Melanie actually gulped. I kissed her on the forehead and linked, “My Grandpa would never hurt you.” My wife replied, “I know… but he might not have wanted all that information shared.”
I looked at grandpa before telling Melanie, “I think he wants to thank you. My mother has carried the burden of killing my uncle for twenty plus years. Now, she feels much better about it.” I squeezed my mate’s hand as we all left the room.
Cassie jumped on me and burst into tears. I held her tightly before saying, “Cass, none of us will let anything happen to your pups.” Cassie whispered, “What about you?” I snorted, “I’ve got my Guard, my big brother, you, our siblings, our family, and an incredibly determined to keep me safe mate.”
I paused then added, “Not to mention, I am not easy to kill. Literally by a prophecy definition. I’m an Enforcer. I’m a fierce fighter, little sister.” Cayden warned, “Melanie will have a plan, Alexander.” I admitted, “I know she does. It’s likely to use herself as bait.” Cayden replied, “I’d put money on that.”
I turned to Uncle Bjourn. I asked, “Did Hastein reiterate to Kingsley Melanie wanted to talk to her?” Uncle Bjournanswered, “He did. She got time off at work unexpectedly, Hastein wanted her to tour our realm.”
I shrugged, “Melanie said it’s not unusual for Kingsley to not check in. My wife just seems to have something important to tell her.” Uncle Bjourn said, “I’m sure they will get to it. Hopefully, it’s nothing as dramatic as your Fairy uncle being able to take form to get his rocks off.” Elise gasped and Cassie started laughing.
I said, “I think my mom has plans for holidays and birthdays along with the sex my Uncle Arion can have now.” Uncle Bjourn commented, “If I was Arion, and thank Aesir I am not, my first hour long attempt at staying in physical form would be with my mate.”
I inclined my head, “Of course it would.” EJ said, “That would be what we all did.” Elise slapped his chest gasping, “Don’t you dare talk about dying.” She promptly burst into tears. I linked my big brother, “Why would you say that near your pregnant, hormonal mate?”
EJ sighed, “Elise. Babe, I’m fine.” My sister in law snarked, “Well, you better stay that way. We are having pups so you can’t go anywhere. It’s not allowed. I’ll have Melanie track your every freaking move. Don’t test me, she’d do it too.”
I added, “She would, big brother.” EJ led Elise away while Cassie was chewing her lip. I said, “Cass.” My little sister cried, “How can I have more children knowing this?” Cayden hugged her. I answered, “Because the Ring doesn’t get to win that way.”
I took her hand saying, “If you only want two pups, then that’s fine. I know that’s not the case though. Mom and dad have protected us all our lives. We are armed with information they never had, and they managed to keep us safe.”
“The Ring was always coming after me, we just didn’t know why. Now we are better prepared. With this information dadwould have come up with a lot of different plans to protect us. We will do that for your pups.”
“I’m positive EJ already thought of a few, along with your mate and myself. Aesir knows my mate probably has schematics of multiple plans in the works. I bet those plans have plans on more plans, all which involve people dying.” Cassie choked out a laugh.
My sister acknowledged, “You’re right.” I told her, “I know I am. I’m adept at studying people and my mate and I have a bond. The plans are vast, little sister.” My eyes were getting heavy. Cassie asked, “Alexander?”
I muttered, “I just need to close my eyes for a second.” I vaguely registered someone yelling as I blacked out. I opened my eyes in Red Run. I groaned, “If I’m in the Ribbon someone is going to have to let me talk to Azoney about this damn thing pulling me while I’m wide awake. Once was enough.”
I walked over to the McAlister’s house. Melanie was on the sitting on the porch with her laptop. I cleared my throat and my mate turned around. Melanie gasped, “Xander.” I said, “Not yours, but yes. What day is it here?”
Melanie answered, “It’s my parents surprise anniversary party. They wouldn’t let me go, which… I mean they didn’t know it was a party… but I planned it all…. I should’ve gotten to go.” I agreed and held out my hand saying, “Let’s change that, shall we.” Younger Melanie giggled and took my hand.
I popped her to the party. The other me snarled, “MINE!” Melanie actually growled it back. She seemed to black out for a second. Interesting. Dad commented, “This is an interesting turn of events, son.” The other me ran to Melanie and grabbed her into a hug.
Jason questioned, “What is happening?” I said, “We have a lot to talk about…” I trailed off as my eyes got heavy. I growled,“You’ve got to be kidding.” I quickly touched my watch and the stored information on the Ring popped out.
I handed it to my dad in this reality. Melanie commented, “I have something like that in my notebook. I actually did it!” I said, “You did. Get Warriors to Red Run. You are attacked tonight while no one is there.” I faded from their reality.
