I told him, “I wish you had been. You still have my thanks and anytime you need me, like I said, I’ll be there.” Charles chuckled, “Thank your young Enforcer, but I did not do it for you.” I replied, “I know.” I hung up the phone.
Melanie’s surprise nearly knocked me over. I felt her disbelief then she was calculating. I was heading for her when dad linked me, “Get to my office. I’m bringing your mate, she found something.” Of course she did.
I linked Phil and Gage, “Melanie found something, stay tuned.” Gage replied, “I’m not shocked.” Phil huffed, “What now?! Found about what?” I admitted, “I don’t know.” Phil grumbled, “Of course not. Why would we know? That’s no fun.” I sensed sarcasm. Oden snorted, “I’m hearing all about it.”
I walked into dad’s office, surprised at who was gathered. Mom, Uncle Aiden, Cassie, and Cayden portaled in. Uncle Bjourn and Grandpa Titus came too. I smiled and gave them both hugs. I asked Cassie, “Where are my niece and nephew?”
Cassie laughed, “Aaron and Ashlyn have them.” I nodded. EJ popped into the corner where he wasn't really visible. I raised an eyebrow at him, but before I could ask dad and Melanie walked in. I walked over to my mate.
I could see the determination in her gaze and felt my wife’s fierce protectiveness surge through our bond. Melanie put her forehead on mine while all I felt was extremely confused. Oden began to growl, but I knew he was too upset to tell me just yet.
Then someone cleared their throat. Melanie pulled back and seemed to realize EJ was in the corner. My wife directed hercomment at him, “You might as well bring Elise in here too, so you don’t have to repeat this.”
EJ grinned saying, “I’ll have to repeat it to our family, but Elise is coming.” Melanie nodded and Elise walked in and went straight over to EJ. Uncle Aiden asked, “What did you find Melanie?” Melanie answered, “I know why the Ring is coming after Alexander so hard and have been his whole life.”
I asked, “What?” Melanie continued, “I even know why they used Arion for their plan to kidnap Haley. I know why Megan’s Coven keeps getting attacked more than others…. and I know why the Ring let Ezra take his revenge on my family by using me.” Uncle Aiden frowned.
My Fairy Uncle reasoned, “Fabian used Arion.” Melanie said, “Yes, because someone encouraged him to. Probably the same someone who had Fabian make the deal with Damon for Haley in the first place. Or not to let it go once it was discovered…. she was not only Faerie’s Princess but the Hackura.”
“Not to mention Eric’s mate. Taking Haley was suicide…. and Damon had to know that. Someone convinced him to do it anyway. Obviously taking Haley was the goal, but I think the true goal was to make sure Arion died because he was the Enforcer.”
Haley asked, “Why the fuck would they do that?” Melanie answered, “The Enforcer can be missing from the prophecy, and it can still be fulfilled. Without the Enforcer the two remaining siblings are vulnerable though.”
“The Enforcer is obviously a weapon for the older sibling that is the strongest and most powerful sibling; however, they are also the balance for the pure of heart sibling. Or… as I just discovered, just the Truth Seeker.”
“The Enforcer is supposed to keep the pure of heart sibling on track. It can turn the pure of heart sibling towards the side of evil if the Enforcer is gone. The pure of heart Fairy gives birthto three children that continue the line of the strongest powers. Specifically to the Enforcer, and the Truth Seeker.”
“The Enforcer with the potential to turn the Truth Seeker evil continues through the Truth Seeker. Once the Truth Seeker was born to the pure of heart Fairy… the window and hope to turn Haley evil past. Then the Ring just wanted Haley for her powers.”
“They turned their attention to Alexander because of Cassie. They wanted to turn Cassie evil. Cassie is in danger until we know which one of her children is the Truth Seeker. Then it will be the Enforcer that is in the most danger. The Ring…. are trying to turn one of the promised siblings family members to the side of evil.”
Melanie took a deep breath before continuing, “If the Ring can accomplish that, they will fracture the promised siblings family because they try to save the member that has gone to the side of evil. I don’t think they fully researched it though.”
Mom asked, “Why?” Melanie answered, “Because if the Enforcer dies, they gain more powers to protect their siblings from the Beyond. They have powers their earthly bodies don’t. Obviously…. the best prize for them would’ve been Haley going evil.”
“I think that was their plan in isolating you in Faerie, Haley. The O’Toole’s knew you were part of the promised siblings…. and they started the hatred for partial Fairies so that once you were there; you’d be hated and abused.”
“The O’Toole’s…. and the Ring… wanted you to be angry. They probably wanted to offer you the chance at some point to get back at everyone. I think they were going to give you the tools and a chance for revenge on everyone.”
“They never got around to it because you fled… which is probably why they looked for you even though no one heard a whisper of where you were… and that felt like it should’ve beena hint… but ya know. I mean they didn’t know… you were in the Hackura realm… but still. It feels like they should’ve at least speculated… that’s where you were.”
Cayden cleared his throat, “You’re saying the Ring is trying to turn my wife evil.” Melanie answered, “Yes, they just want to capture her right now. They want to kill my mate… all so they have the chance of Cassie turning to their side. That will continue with your pups… I’m sorry.”
My wife handed us all copies of the pages she found. Sierra came in with different pages and highlighted passages. I looked over at my little sister and fury filled me. I linked EJ, “They are not going to get to Cass through me.”
EJ agreed, “No, they won’t because nothing is going to happen to you. Melanie has a plan, Alexander. I literally see her thinking about it, and I just feel deep in my bones we are NOT prepared for whatever it is.” Oden snorted, “I agree.”
I acknowledged, “I know that. I can feel my wife in the bond, brother.” Cassie shot sunlight at a vase. My sister asked, “So, they are waiting to hear if my daughter is the Truth Seeker before they stop coming at Alexander? Then they will start coming at my children, then my grandchildren.”
Melanie winced and answered, “Yes… but it would be Nickolas they were coming at… if your daughter is the Truth Seeker.” I said, “Then we don’t tell anyone what my niece can do, Cass. I can handle the Ring coming at me. We will protect our nieces and nephews.”
Cayden locked eyes with me. I said, “Melanie can make sure that no one gets the information. You can put up blocks or whatever you call them, right Lovebug?” Melanie replied, “Uhh… Yes… and maybe… just maybe… I already did… if anyone talks about Cayden and Cassie’s pups in electronic form; I’ll know…. and so will Gunner.” I smirked because she still squeaked when she said my uncle’s name.
Cayden relaxed a little while Uncle Aiden felt extreme sorrow along my mother. I noted mom was looking for something in those pages. I asked, “Mom, what are you looking for?” Mom whispered, “I’m looking for information. I want to know if I would’ve turned evil if I had killed Arion before I had you guys.”
Melanie answered, “You wouldn’t have killed him… no matter what… without your pups. I don’t think the Ring leaders thought you would kill Arion. They wanted your Hackura family, or Eric, to kill him… which they couldn’t have done.” Huh?
Melanie continued, “Or the Ring wanted to push Arion into betraying Aiden so badly that Aiden himself had to kill him because, well…. if you see the second set of papers Sierra handed out if Aiden had killed him…. he would’ve lost a piece of himself.”
