Lux growled, “That’s just suicide, but consider us on the way to Black Mountain.” I sighed, “Yes… I did know you wouldn’t go to Blue Moon.” Lux said, “I would if it was dire. My dad would not.” I conceded, “True… I’ll fix that… somehow.. since I feel we got details out… that will help with that.” Lux snorted, “Best of luck.” I didn’t really need luck. Several people laughed and Lux hung up.

I asked, “Did I say that out loud?” Abigail answered, “You did.” Crap. I called Alpha Emmett next. He answered, “This isAlpha Emmett.” I asked, “Why do people answer the phone that way? I know it’s you… I called you.”

Alpha Emmett laughed, “Ahh Luna Melanie. How can I help?” I replied, “I’m sure there’s a Warrior on his way to your pack, but Blue Moon and Black Mountain are under attack. Lux is heading to Black Mountain, for obvious reasons… but you’d be helpful.”

Alpha Emmett swore, “Son of a bitch! We are on the way. Malachi, split warriors in groups. We need Fairies to pop us to Blue Moon and Black Mountain. NOW!” He hung up. Well, at least he was moving into action.

I called Tristan, but he didn’t answer. I called Jason… he also didn’t answer. None of my family OR the Kyle’s were picking up. I frantically looked through my watch but didn’t see that they were being attacked in Red Run.

I reasoned that they knew already and were assisting Black Mountain or Blue Moon. I looked up and the fight was won. I called, “Let’s get back to Black Mountain. There’s an attack there too.” I had barely gotten the words out when Aiden popped away.

Egres opened a portal and I was through it in a second. I scanned the surroundings. EJ and Xander were fighting side by side. This was a larger attack than the one on Alpha Theo’s pack. I caught a glint of sunlight reflecting.

I yelled, “SHIELD!” EJ immediately put up his shield as shots were fired at him and Xander. Fury filled me. I looked down, noting my hands were lighting up and it started to rain. Did I do that? Maybe Xander did. Now was so not the time for this debate. I needed to move.

Freya agreed, “Yes, move and get those reprobates that tried to shoot our mate.” I ran to the armory, grabbed a vest, and a sniper rifle. I ran back outside and scaled the building. Several people were yelling my name, but I ignored them.

Dad linked, “You be VERY careful. We are not the only ones who saw you scale that building. You don’t have the advantage.” I snorted, “I have the advantage of being a better shot.” When I reached the roof, I set up.

My dad wasn’t wrong, though…... I was at a disadvantage. Their snipers knew exactly where I was, while I had a general area based on their shots they’d fired. I’d have to do this fast. I had shot one sniper through my scope when I heard a shot.

I rolled away as the scope of my gun took a bullet. That would’ve been bad. Dad, mom, Tristan, Jason, Addison, and Everly linked, “MELANIE!” I replied, “Umm that’s a whole family link… I’m fine… the scope is messed up… but I can buy them a new one.”

Mom’s tone was full of relief, “No one cares about the scope.” A pop sounded beside me. I knew who it was without looking. Freya purred in my head. I greeted, “Hi, Husband of mine. Can you conjure me a new scope? Please and thank you.”

Xander growled but did as I asked. I quickly fired off more rounds. We took more fire, but neither of us got hit. Once the snipers were taken out, Xander grabbed me and lifted up my shirt. I snorted, “Your family is very grabby about my shirt today.”

My husband growled again. Freya said, “Those weren’t the best first words to say.” I reasoned, “I said hi husband first… so… that counts.” My wolf chuckled. I assured my mate, “I’m fine.” His eyes were pitch black.

Xander grabbed me and popped down into the fight. He stood in front of me using his pushing power. There weren’t just rogues here like the Luna attack. Some were other packs that were being insane… clearly.

I tried to get out from behind Xander and help the fight, but he wasn’t letting me. I was almost through once when Gordon grabbed me. I frowned and asked, “Umm can I helpyou?” Gordan answered, “Yes. Stay back there, Duke’s orders.” I frowned.

Well, Xander and I were talking about this afterwards. I sighed and took out my gun that I had strapped to my ankle from Cayden all those years ago. I started shooting. If I wasn’t going to get out there and fight…. I could still shoot people.

Once the fight was over, Cayden dragged a group of guys in and threw them in front of EJ and Xander. When they looked up, I paled. Oh no. I linked Sierra, “Umm… is that….? They are… oh no.” Sierra was laughing down the link. I jumped behind Gordon and Egres. Both of them turned to look at me. I let out a nervous chuckle.

Sierra snorted, “Be more obvious. We have got to get you a poker face.” Abigail linked, “Are you ok over there?” I squeaked, “Totally fine.” Abigail snorted. Addison linked me, “Aren’t those the guys you….?”

I interrupted, “Yes, they are. Now I’ll just be hiding until they kill them or haul them off the dungeons.” Addison replied, “Best of luck.” Mom asked, “Oh no. Why are you hiding?” I replied, “Hiding? Me? Pshhhh.” Mom sighed, “Pup, you can’t lie.”

Eric linked me, “Why are you hiding from those guys?” Well, lying hadn’t worked so I went a different direction with this answer. I replied, “Hiding? Hiding is a strong word. Accurate, but strong… and if everyone could stop mentioning it… that would be great.” Eric raised an eyebrow.

Hastein was staring at me too. Actually, all of Xander’s cousins were looking at me. Phil linked, “Oh this is not good. I’ve never seen you hide from someone.” I didn’t answer him. Gage linked, “My god, are you hiding? Say no.”

I replied, “I’ve been told that when I reply with no… or something of a denial, my lie is obvious.” Gage laughed back. Bjourn and Marcus were sending me questioning looks. Just afew days of no one giving me that was all I asked. A few days. I was not asking for much here.

Freya chuckled, “You are far too interesting of a person for that to happen.” Well, that hardly seemed fair. EJ questioned them, “What was the meaning of this?” Kirkland answered, “Well, you were supposed to be weakened with your mother being kidnapped and the loss of your mates. You were separated. It was a chance we had to take.”

I linked Sierra, “Ok, so they don’t know I’m here…that’s good.” Sierra agreed, “Yeah, I guess.” I heard popcorn crunching and looked over at Dylan, who winked at me. How the heck did he always have popcorn? Did he produce it?

Tristan called, “Ladybug?” Now was so not the time. Tristan asked me, “Are you ok? You were stabbed earlier. Can you please come out here so we can get you checked out?” I made my voice higher answering, “No, I’m good.”

Now everyone really was staring at me. Sierra linked me laughing again. I linked her, “Shut it!” Paige linked me, “What in the heck was that?” I said, “Umm so there was a thing when I was fifteen….” Paige started laughing out loud now.

My Witch friend linked back, “Yeah, I think I know what you’re talking about. Addison told me about that.” Dad was next, “Ladybug, what is going on? Will you get checked out please?” I linked him, “Xander already did that. I’m fine…. Totally fine….everything is fine.”

Gabe said out loud, “She’s healed.” Thank god for Gabe… no Aesir.. not god. His next birthday present from me was going to be epic. Dylan hit him in the arm ordering, “You hush.” Abigail linked, “Well, he threw you a life raft, but I don’t think this situation is salvageable at the point.” Yeah… I could see that… but I knew Xander wasn’t going to be mad. My family would be though.
